I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer back in February 2010.
History:
Prior to the diagnosis I had felt a strange pressure in my stomach occasionally which started around October 2009. I probably should have gone to the doctor when I was feeling the swelling/pressure but I thought it was just from being cramped into the Miata I had just purchased. I bought the car because some guy ran a red light and hit my previous car.

Anyway, a month later, (yesterday) I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have done some research and it says lansoprazole can cause kidney failure. Should I take these tablets or wait till Friday and get a second opinion from the hospital on my assessment?
Does anyone know if having your Gallbladder removed slows down your metabolism? or does it speed it up? What have you experienced?

I had 3 operations in the first 5 years without success (it just came back) but a breakthrough came 4 years ago when my ENT specialist put me on lansoprazole, a PPI, believing that it was probably due to acid reflux (although I had no symptoms). The granuloma disappeared over the next 6 months.
However, it sometimes comes back, or at least the symptoms do, every few months, but go again after 2 or 3 weeks. But over the last week or so symptoms have come back with a vengeance.
pylori after having a breath test done, and have been prescribed by my doctor - lansoprazole 30 mg - metronidazole 400 mg - amoxicillin 500 mg. All three medacation taken twice a day for a 7 day course.I am now into the 5 th day of taking them.There seems to be no side effects, the problems of bloating,discomfort (painfull at times) that comes and goes througout the day,has not eased at all.
If these combanation of tablets were going to work,would my symptons have eased by now ?.
In addition to this, I would suggest mild exercise and breathing exercises to help you further with your metabolism.
Watch out for milk, coffee, soup, sodas, oil, beer, sugar, egg yolk, pulses,etc for sometime to avoid .
There is a herb called "" Glycyrrhiza glabra"" which can help you with gastric comfort. You must try the vegetable Bitter Mellon low fried in olive oil with some well cooked plain rice for lunch/dinner and notice how well it suits you.
m back on Ranitidine as the side affects of Lansoprazole were unpleasant and just as bad or worse as the GERD. When I stopped taking Lansoprazole I had bad symptoms for a few days but they subsided. However since then my Acid Reflux / GERD has been more or less what it was before starting Lansoprazole. Some days its worse than others.
I've also read about the negative side effects of PPI drugs.
My doc prescribed me Lansoprazole gastro resistant as there has been blood in my vomit recently. Has anyone taken it or know anything about it?
So she went to the doctors and prescribed Lansoprazole. About a week and a half after the Lansoprazole was prescribed she started to shake. And for about a half a week now its been getting worse and worse. Now she is also having trouble seeing, and is experiencing ear ache's and headaches. While she is still shaking. Went back to the doctor, who told me I probably wouldnt want an endoscopy and put my on LANSOPRAZOLE to block acid. I still get these weird spasms. I'm kind of troubled they didnt bother to do an endoscopy. Could this be a serious problem, should I change doctors? The last couple years I have been watching myself so closely. I have noticed that hypo mania causes me to eat a lot and depressive states I hardly eat for days. I weight the same in my 40's as I did in my mid teens, most of the time. I normally weigh about 180 and am pretty fit, but months of mania in India lead to extreme situations that landed me at 130 pounds. I am trying to see if my appetite changes and then my mood, or if my mood affects my appetite.
I have trouble gaining weight because i have a super fast metabolism. I way 102 (wich is a good weight for my age) and i eat ALOT. My friends make fun of me for being skinny, i mean my legs look so skinny that my little brother mad fun of me which REALLY hurt my feelings. I am also nicknamed pencil because I DON'T have "curves" or "hips" and my ankles and calfs are super skinny.I hate being called that.

I haven't done a lot of research on the subject, but since hypothyroidism does affect metabolism, I'd guess that alcohol metabolism would be altered, just as food metabolism is altered.
I used to walk on my breaks where I worked several years ago, but since I got let go, I just can't seem to get back into the routine. I'm a yo-yo dieter and am constantly trying to lose weight. How can I rev up my metabolism? I've gone to Weight Watchers and love their program(s), but right now I'm not financially able to attend and my weight has crept up to 195 (again). I also need to do exercises that fit my health issues (bladder leakage; 25 lb weight limit, etc).
Talk to doctor he said my metabolism has slowed due to the med, as well as low estrogen, Any advice? weight is at stand still even with exercise and moderate food intake, water.
