Avatar m tn m back on Ranitidine as the side affects of Lansoprazole were unpleasant and just as bad or worse as the GERD. When I stopped taking Lansoprazole I had bad symptoms for a few days but they subsided. However since then my Acid Reflux / GERD has been more or less what it was before starting Lansoprazole. Some days its worse than others. I've also read about the negative side effects of PPI drugs.
Avatar n tn This is because lansoprazole and other proton pump inhibitors weaken the bones and have been linked to the development of osteosteoporosis. People who are at higher risk for sustaining such injuries are those who take higher doses of this medication and those who take this medication for one year or longer. Also, people who are 50 years of age and older are also at risk of sustaining similar injuries.
Avatar m tn I also have lower back pain and extremely slow digestion and vomiting and nausea and high insulin levels. I have many dietary restrictions I can't consume: meat, poultry, eggs, a lot of dairy products, a lot of starches, fried foods spicy foods, sweets, carbonated drinks, peanuts, pineapples and fish. I am also a strict vegetarian and have low iron levels and fatigue.
Avatar n tn (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.) I had other tests with showed no nerve problems and no diabetes. It was only recently that I realized that these could be side effects from the 'prozole meds I've been taking. I just stopped taking everything but the Zantac. My stomach problems which mostly felt like I have a brick in my stomach were only mildly alleviated by any of the above meds. I'm seeing a gastro specialist this week.
Avatar f tn Anyway, a month later, (yesterday) I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have done some research and it says lansoprazole can cause kidney failure. Should I take these tablets or wait till Friday and get a second opinion from the hospital on my assessment?

Avatar m tn What you need to do is eliminate the common causes of increase in weight such as overeating, lack of exercise, diabetes, and hypothyroidism. Anemia, low proteins, adrenal gland problems, kidney and liver problems and Cushing Syndrome has to be eliminated. Late night snacking and poor sleep patterns too cause weight gain. Certain medications like antidepressants cause weight gain. Most of these problems can also cause symptoms you are having.

Avatar f tn I wake up in the middle of the night several times out of a deep sleep to eat sweets---all night. I could eat about 5 cookies, fall back to sleep, wake up suddenly and eat another 8-9, chase it with juice, go back to sleep and wake up to do the same thing. I'm always sweating and thirsty, as well but the doctor has said I do NOT have diabetes. If not diabetes, then what IS this??? Please help.

Avatar f tn Doctor gave me prenisolone and antibiotics to check it wasnt an infection but all that happened was my stomach felt like it had been kicked by a horse, I had a horrible taste in my mouth and major acidy feeling. The doc eventually suggested I went back on lansoprazole and after about 3 weeks I felt back to normal. When I was feeling better I was scheduled in for an endoscopy and the results were bile and acid reflux, esophogisits and gastritis.

Avatar m tn ve been taking Lansoprazole (Proton Pump Inhibitor) for about 2 weeks and the symptoms are only slightly better but no way near gone. 2. The same time the stomach issues started I've developed an intolerance to nuts (very painful stomach aches & an itchy bum lol), I found it pretty strange as I'd pretty much been eating nuts nearly everyday for as long as I can remember. 3.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I am female and 28 years old, I have type 1 diabetes and I am on insulin. Mostly well controlled. Last December, I started having weird stomach problems where I lost my appetite to the point where I had starvation ketones, and would feel very nauseous and ill after eating the most basic foods. (Bananas and bread). I would start shaking and need to lay down.
Avatar m tn Thanks. He was prescribed famotidine and lansoprazole. He is still taking the lansoprazole but it isn't helping. I will inquire about allergies. I am currently on a one year wait list for an appointment at the allergy clinic, myself.... Maybe they can expedite the process for him?

Avatar n tn t believe, can feel milk fermenting in her even, has pain on feeding and is distressed and cries a lot, and doesn't gain weight despite vast amounts of calories (more than enough for catch-up growth, she's under a dietician). Obviously i stopped the lansoprazole. Also had a trial of metronidazole by a paediatrician who wasn't convinced of overgrowth - she gained 10oz in one week - the best gain ever! But recurrent symptoms of misery and gassiness.
Avatar n tn With stomach pains that make me feel like I need to eat asap. And a few hours after I eat a good meal I feel starving. Water will hold it off for a few minutes but then my stomach starts growling and I feel like I haven't eaten all day. Is there anything that could cause this?
Avatar m tn Causes may be psychological, smoking, alcohol, illicit drugs and medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, low testosterone, depression, spinal cord and neurological causes. To exactly pinpoint a diagnosis you need to get a complete examination done from a urologist. It may be due to your medicines and you may need to change them or get the dose monitored.
Avatar f tn Hello I'm going to be having 3 stents inserted into my arteries in a couple of weeks time. My specialist (who will be carrying out the procedure) has asked me to take 600mg of clopigdogrel and 600mg of asprin the night before the procedure, and I'm a bit worried about doing this. Is it normal practice? I currently take 75mg of clopidogrel every day.

Avatar m tn Went back to the doctor, who told me I probably wouldnt want an endoscopy and put my on LANSOPRAZOLE to block acid. I still get these weird spasms. I'm kind of troubled they didnt bother to do an endoscopy. Could this be a serious problem, should I change doctors? He did take a chest xray of the gas in my body and said it all looked normal ( no odd shapes ) uhmm I guess he is the best doctor in town.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor who imedietly suggested it could be an ulcer and prescribed me 30mg Lansoprazole, which I took for and immediately this sensation vanished no matter what I ate.
