Avatar n tn The second time I experienced SVT was in 2007, again my Dr gave me Lanoxin. Lanoxin was only prescribed when ever i have SVT. This 2009, I had several SVTs. In Sept 2009, my Dr. suggested to hv my regular ECG, CBC and my first time to undergo a 2D Echo with Doppler. My BP is 90/60. All ok, except for my low rbc ct in CBC. My Dr told me that low rbc cause lack of oxygen that is the reason i had SVT. She prescribed Ferrous Sulfates as source of my iron for blood oxygen.
Avatar n tn Is your uncle taking Lanoxin (heart medication)? Lanoxin has shown to increase the pumping strength. My father had a weak heart beat and after being on Lanoxin for about 10 years now, he's heart beat is strong (very strong per taking his pulse). Ask your uncle's doctor about Lanoxin.
329165 tn?1515471990 Went to Cardio for 6 weeks check-up and he prescribed LANOXIN 0,25mg with high starting dosage (had to take 4 tabs the 1st day). It is now 7 days later and still no improvement. My HR is still fast and BP low and I now have extra systoles/irregular HR. Should I stop using LANOXIN and switch to SOTACOR (I used it pre-op). I had Ablation done in Nov. 2007 to treat PSVT. Thank you!
Avatar n tn My father is 69 years old had a stroke 12 years ago, had pacemaker installed about 8 years ago, he has had a couple heart attacks. he also has congestive heart failure and is always in atrial fib. His heart is now working at 15 percent. i was wondering if there is any medication or what can be done to have his heart pump stronger so he doesnt continue to build fluid in his body. He currently takes lasix, aldactone and coumadin.

Avatar f tn Is your mother on any heart medications? Does the heart "racing" happen often? Line of thought here is that a beta blocker may be a help in dealing with the high heart rate, then that is something your doctor has to decide. Many of us take a generic named Metoprolol to slow our heart rate...in my case my HR is always high and I do not have an ICD/Pacemaker.
Avatar n tn i know that my daughters cardiologist at the univ of mich had told us when they put her on lanoxin that the risks of amiodarone in her case made her not a good candidate for it. i do know that many have taken it for short periods and it seemed to help, but i believe it generally not taken long term as lanoxin or digoxin is hope my little bit helps and good luck....... dawn p.s.
Avatar f tn Last October I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy with the ejection fraction of 20% ( I am 63 years young). In December I had a Bi-V ICD inserted. Yesterday I had a MUGA test done and my ejection fraction has increased to 46%. Does this mean that my enlarged heart could be reducing in size or just that the ICD and medication is working? I had a lot of stress before my diagnosis and have not worked since.
Avatar n tn My baby girl is 2 months and 2 weeks old her doctor told me se suffers from VSD muscular 4mm, ASD2 4mm,PHT and he gave her medicine lasix and lanoxin but she became lazy, less active and always sleepy without appetite.
Avatar m tn She was seen by doctor suggested to wait until she is 3 months and stay under supervision and there is 90% for the hole to close until then. prescribed Lasix(centoxin),Lanoxin (frusin) And KT for her to start immediately. I know that Lasix has some side efects as to pottasium loss and water loss, is it dangerous for a newborn to be taking these medications . I am really worried for my baby.Is it safe to use the medication? Is it recomended to go for surgery?? and when?
Avatar n tn He was then discharged and is now recovering at home. He was taking Lanoxin and diuretics and did not have any swelling or breathlessness. So after 3 months the doctor stopped these medications (without checking the EF). He went for his checkup this month (9 months after surgery) and his echo shows an EF of 40%. The doctor also mentions "Mild LV Dysfunction". So now the doctor has put him back on Lanoxin and diuretics. Is this heart failure where the prognosis is poor?
1353213 tn?1277008115 A large VSD is less likely to close completely on its own, but it may get smaller over time. Large VSDs often cause symptoms in infants and children, and surgery usually is needed to close them. Hope this information provides a perspective for you to further discuss the implications with your daughter's doctor. Take care and thanks for sharing.
162069 tn?1224677411 Is she feeling a difference? Can you see a difference in her energy levels and breathing? Some medications (even though I can't stand pills) are really amazing and do a wonderful job. I'm glad she's found the right mix.
Avatar f tn My blood pressure is high 160/94 and doc prescribed an ACE inhib for me. How will this effect my PVC/PAC's? Help or hurt? Right now I take lanoxin .25 for PVCs. HBP runs in the family so I was doomed anyway.
Avatar f tn I would give him my heart in a minute. My children and grandchildren are my life. How long did your daughter have to wait for a heart on the transplant list? If you don't mind me asking?
Avatar n tn Wife, 89, has history of atril fib and is prescribed lisinopril (40mg), lasix (40mg) and lanoxin (20mg) along with coumadin (5mg) daily. Recent wide-ranging BP/Pulse readings (160's/80's and pulse below 50) led to adding Toprol XL. First tab last night at bedtime resulted in lowered BP (128/50 and pulse of 41) this AM. Accompanied by inability to urinate (except few drops) for a water drinker.
Avatar n tn my doctor prescribed me some medications for my heart like coumadin, lanoxin, lasix, cardipress, zarnat, and aldazide... is this a life treathening? when will i stop to take these medicines? or does it take a years to stop these medcines? is it true that heart patient like me has a shorter life span compared to a normal person? help me plz, im already 27 yrs old....
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your replies! I'm really glad I stumbled across this forum - it's good to know I'm not alone in this world of funky heartbeats! I definitely have those moments where it feels like my heart is going to go all tachy on me and then it doesn't. That's what makes me feel like the ablation was successful. Then again, I suppose it could easily be another faulty pathway acting up.
Avatar m tn but had a head injury and got hit on emotional glands on fore head and after curing those clots in the head .....this Heart issue was discovered....and has a clot on muscle and because of it the electric pulse is delayed by 0.07msecs and heart beats are irregular so by reducing the PT INR content .. they r controlling it.. he is taking Acitrom for thinning blood and to control the heart beat he is taking Betalock tabs and other tabs like cardace , lanoxin,aldactone,pletoz..
329165 tn?1515471990 s appointment Cardio noted this (I thought it is normal post-op to have such a fast HR) and prescribed LANOXIN. I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now and still no improvement in HR and BP. GP did bloodtests and these are the results: TSH: normal CRP: normal range Full blood count: normal range Pro-BNP: 218. Can anyone tell me what is this Pro-BNP test and if 218 is high?
Avatar f tn 8%, LALV clot absent and told the patient that he is having global hipokinesia. treatmwent given is - lasilactone 50mg, lanoxin, nitrocontin, ranojex. patient has respiratory allergy problems due to pollens in feb-march. i want to know prognosis of this patient and whether the treatment is correct or not and whether the patient should keep oxygen cylinder and what precaution he should take.
Avatar f tn I left hospital before the echo results were given to my Doc so I have to wait until my next appt in three weeks time. I have had atrial tachycardia in the past (went away as I grew older) and then occasional ectopic beats which was treated with Lanoxin which was ceased when my blood pressure dropped too low.
