Ugh i'm on Lamotrigine and I accidentally took a whole pill and not a half and the next-ish day I had this sore feeling in a part of my throat I couldn't pinpoint , it was weird. I have continuously felt like I was on the verge of getting sick...Hm. I've been really thirsty lately, too.

Well, I'm on day 5 of no Abilify and so far it's going well. I sleep better, feel more at peace with myself and feel a bit more clear headed. Why I didn't taper off was because Abilify has a half life of over 3 days and my pdoc trusted me enough to quit it all together at once. I won't be replacing the Abilify with another antipsychotic though, risperdal and zyprexa worked horribly for me. This is more of an experiment to see if I can survive on Lamotrigine alone.

The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.

It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.

I think they're confused. If you read the full prescribing information, it's the PILL that screws with the lamotrigine, not the other way around. It's not like a lot of other anticonvulsants. From my personal experience I would try the medications and keep a log of good or ill effects, for the first 30 days to adjust for half life and discuss them with the prescribing DR. If there are ill effects notify your DR immediately.

I am currently taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg, Lamotrigine 25 mg, Zyrtec, Levothyroxine 75mg, and Atenolol 50mg. I started Lamotrigine (lamictal generic) 2 weeks ago. On day 9, I developed severe diarrhea and cramps. It was slowed down with 1 pill of Immodium, but after 2 days I decided to eat a "regular" meal and got diarrhea again. So it's been on an off for 6 days, and this morning it was worse than it was the first day!

I just spent a half hour describing my symptoms and questions, only to have lost them due to one single press of the wrong button. ANYWAY, my question is: I was taking Lamictal (anti-seizure medicine) while getting ECT treatments. SHOULD I HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF LAMICTAL BEFORE THE INDUCED SEIZURES? I am experiences extreme memory loss and cognitve function. Unable to speak articulately since the ECT. It doesn't make sense that I would be on an anti seizure medicine.

2nd that your dose can be lessened, indeed yes, but not monotonically rather with many ups and downs on your way down, so on the whole the resultant is down (of course your siblings, hubby whoever lives with you must know not to stress you by any mean, i.e. life should be enjoyable more or less or with no difficulties, i.e. not to worry abt cooking, etc...

Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood. Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine. Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.

decided to quit taking it on a monday felt fine all week untill sun when i went into serious withdrawl! so as far as half life im not sure? but you can bet i was back on it mon! so i guess it was in my system for 6 days after i stopped. p.s.

?? Does anyone know the Half life of SUBOXONE - Beprenorphine.? I HEARD it was 70 hours, but that's what I heard....unsure if that is even accurate?

ve been taking Lamotrigine for over a year. It caused no changes in my weight or appetite. And I swear by the medication.

I had about 10 depressive episodes in 2-3 years and they stopped completely when I started lamotrigine (well, apart from the one, but it was work related). You probably already know lamotrigine (Lamictal) works better for the depression side more than the manic side.

However, 21 days after starting this new brand he had a grandmal seizure in our car. We are grateful he is alive and was not injured. In addition no one else was hurt or injured.

I was diagnosed as bipolar type 2 back in June 2005, and since then have been on Lamotrigine (Lamictal) on an increasing dosage. I have been at the max dosage that my doctor said is allowed (350 mg/day). So that means over 4 years that I've been taking this drug. I have found that since taking lamictal, my depression has all but vanished, but it does not control my manic behavior at all. So as an anti-depressant, I think it's very effective for me.

Havent been in the sun. Ive been taking lamotrigine for about 2 weeks and I know its associated with some serious rashes. Went to GP when the rash wasnt this bad and she said its probably something viral and possibly the medication, talk to the person who prescribed the lamotrgine. Finally got a hold of prescribing nurse practioner who, over the phone, said to stop taking it and just take benedryl, it will be gone by this weekend. Benedryl is putting me to sleep but not doing anything.

It is unlikely that the symptoms are caused by lamotrigine as you are not on an effective dose yet. So, since the dose is low it can't stop the depression from coming on that is caused by your bipolar. Lamotrigine is not known for causing depression. The lowest dose usually seen as effective is 200mg. But, with this drug you have to increase it slowly. Give it more time and get up to a therapeutic dose. I take lamotrigine - 200mg -- and it has worked well for me with no side effects.

Also about the medicine. Ican understand that it worked for a while but unfotunaly life goes on and as your life changes with the aid of the medicine it may be time for an adjustment. None of us ever get to stay on the same medicine at the same doe forever (at least very few if any. Maybe talk to your dr about adjusting the meds and if that does not work you may need to change some around but always d it under the care of a dr. Good luck Manny and let me know how it goes.

quetiapine 25mg night, lamotrigine 100mg night, wellbutrin 150mg twice a day. And inderal 10mg as needed for anxiety. Lamotrigine gave me a rash, wellbutrin (generic version) made me irritable and snippy at everything. The seroquel (generic version) has been wonderful, although it makes me hungry but since I take it at night I try not to stay awake with it. Inderal (propranolol) gave me apathy so I am taking less.

In about 2011 or so (i was like 17 I wanna say) I was perscribed Lamotrigine for bipolar disorder. Taking that medication seems to have been the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life. Or, the most coincidental occurance I've ever heard of. Just a week after tapering daily to the regular dose, I began to feel what I called "crippling anxiety". My doc hardly believed me when I said it and, get this, UPPED my dose of Lamotrigine.

t feel any anti depressant properties from it, but it has saved my life. Lamotrigine was prescribed 7 weeks ago and I feel a lot better, I am doing things that I didn't think I'd ever feel I could do again. Nobody has ever specified what type of Bp I have, I have symptoms from across the spectrum, I have mixed episodes. I would definitely get a med review, I have noticed that with the lamotrigine that it probably would need increasing eventually. I hope you feel better soon!
