Lamictal withdrawal depression

Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal withdrawal depression

lamictal

Avatar f tn We could use more information as why you are taking Lamictal. It could be for manic depression (in that case i don't suggest you stop it) or it could be for epilepsy (in that case I don't suggest you stop it). If you haven't being diagnosed bi-polar and using this simply as a mood stabilizer then yeah I guess you can taper off it slowly but may I ask you too about the side-effects you were gettin while on you full dose? Is it worth enduring a life without the med itself?
Avatar n tn I have been on and off an Effexor/Lamictal combination for a number of years - going off of it when I've lost health insurance or just can't afford it. This time around I've been on it about 1 1/2 years and due to paperwork issues, my new prescription didn't arrive per usual, so my psychiatrist had me immediately go from 600 mg effexor to 300 mg, and now to 150 mg in less then a week. I've also gone down from 450 mg of lamictal to 150 mg.
Avatar n tn nt leave house very sensitive to noise I couldnt drive either In beginning of 10/08 i started to drive thought i was getting better than started to actually feel depressed starting to improve a little my question is what the hell happened When i googled lamictal withdrawal i find im not the only one however with me i went back on so WHAT HAPPENED
Avatar f tn Went to see my Dr. yesterday and i asked her if she could give me something different for my depression. I also told her that i'm trying to come off pain pills. I was taking 15-20 daily. It's been day 8 and i'm down to 8x daily. So she prescribed me Wellbutrin. Does anybody know anything about the medication. I also take Cymbalta and Lamictal and Ambien.
Avatar f tn The side effect profile on it is not much better then other anti-psychotics and unless you are experiencing severe depression I would question its use. Stick with Lamictal though, it will ease withdrawal symptoms for you. Ask your NP why s/he did not choose a different more convention SSRI or SNRI antidepressant. Good luck and stay well.
574118 tn?1305135284 So a gentleman here advised lamictal and my new pdoc too. I am now convinced. Since I am very sensitive to drugs my pdoc said I can start on an infantile doze of 4mg in 2 tablets a day each of 2mg chewable. So starting saturday afternoon i took 2mg in the morning and at night another 2mg. I slept rather bad although I am on: 1mg risperidone 25mg seroquel 2mg stellazin 0.
607502 tn?1288247540 Lamictal is a good medication; it's approved for BP depression, but it's a good all around mood stabilizer for me, for the most part. I know that I have been placed on Seroquel several times and had adverse reactions each time; akathisia and mania. I was pulled off of the suddenly and had a terrible time sleeping along with some flu like symptoms. I doubt that you'll have serious issues as you'll be in a hospital environment, they'll taper you off as needed.
Avatar n tn What happened does sound like a manic episode, then followed by a depression.
Avatar f tn was diagnosed as being bipolar. The prescription that he got was a generic form of Lamictal. I visited him today & saw the pill bottle, it says "41" but there were only 9 pills left in the container. The date was Dec. 19 - that's only been 7 days ago & it says to take "1 for the lst 7 days & then take 2 a day". I asked him why there were so few in the bottle & he said the pharmacy didn't have enough to fill the entire prescription.
Avatar f tn Pdoc agreed and started weaning me off while titrating me up on Lamictal. I’m only on 25mg. Go up to 50mg in another week. Down to approx 1.5mg Abilify now. Feel HORRIBLE. Also on Zoloft 100mg. Having racing thoughts, anxiety, mood swings, bone pain and sweats. From what I’ve read, this is Abilify withdrawal. Do I just have to feel awful until Lamictal dose is high enough to be therapeutic? Thanks!!
Avatar f tn I started Lamictal three weeks ago and am at 200mg. Started Latuda about four days ago at 80 mg. Serequel 100mg to sleep. Doc says I might have BP. Not sure if it's BP or deep depression. How long does it take for these meds to work? I'm on and off and teary and a bit sick. I'm not hopeless anymore, but still very scared. Does anyone have advice?
Avatar n tn t believe the problem was lamictal, he told me to stop taking it the next day. The withdrawal is living hell. I have been off it for 3 weeks and the stiffness and pain is better, but I feel like I have the flu and the diarrhea is bad. I would like to know how long the withdrawal will last? I believe I was misdiagnosed. I've come a long way since my accident and now I feel like I'm starting over. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Careful supervision is required during drug withdrawal, since severe depression as well as the effects of chronic overactivity can be unmasked. Long-term follow-up may be required because of the patient’s basic personality disturbances." I'm not sure if this info. is of value to you, but I thought I'd pass it along.
1134609 tn?1269272200 withdrawing from nicotine is as bad as withdrawing from tranquilizers or narcotics. but still it depends on the type you smoked. for example withdrawing from cigarettes - i read - is the wotst withdrawal of them all. usually smokers change over to cigars first then withdrawal becomes easier.
Avatar f tn After reading the horror stories on here about tramadol withdrawal I have decided to stop taking so many and try to get it down to just 1 or 2 per day. I have been on seroquel, lexapro, lamictal and l tyrosine for about two years for bipolar depression. Do u think since I have so many antidepressants in my system that it will make the mental withdrawal a bit easier?? Ive got it down to 6 per day now and not feeling any withdrawal symptoms yet. Any advice? I'm scared.
Avatar f tn Whatever you do, do not go off the lamictal because the withdrawal is baaaad! I took myself off it last week and wow! Dizzy, nausea, feel like someone poisoned me. Went back on it (100 mg) tonight. plus I am on perphenazine and sertraline, all for bipolar 2.
1011826 tn?1274492712 Anyone had any withdrawal side effects relating to Trileptal? Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time.
Avatar f tn I have had 3 in the last 3 days and am living in fear of the next one. Is it the Effexor withdrawl? Is the Prozac not working? I am also on 200mg Lamictal. I do not think that I am bipolar. Doc said that the panic attacks may be manic symptoms and so she told me to take zyprexa 2.5mg at night, stop the prozac and take 37.5 of effexor until she gets back in town. She told me that she thinks that I am bipolar but I don’t understand why.
Avatar n tn I was put on lamictal for mania because I cannot take any of the traditional mania meds. Lamictal worked for me but I had side effects and had to stop it. Your dr is just following new medication lists.
Avatar f tn I also taking seroquel, lamictal, lexapro and l tyrosine for bipolar depression. Do u think the withdrawal from the tramadol will be bad? Should I taper? What should I expect? Please help me. I'm scared. Thanks.

Avatar f tn Does anyone have a problem with temper when taking Klonopin or Lamictal, or either of these drugs helping with a temper. I've been on Klonopin for several years so doubt that's the problem. I've only been on Lamictal two weeks and on lithium for a few months. I've had a problem with my temper for about a month.
Avatar f tn So they started me on Lamictal a wk and a half ago. I feel more depressed than ever. I've taken lamictal before and it seems to help at obviously higher doses. Most of you know with Lamictal you have to start out slow. So I'm still on 25mg right now due to start 50mg in a few days. I don't know if I should contribute this(worsening depression) to the Lamictal or just say that it's not had enough time to work. What helped you all with your depression?
Avatar f tn I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.
