Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal vs lexapro

lamictal

Avatar f tn combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ? My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea. The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.
Avatar f tn I am currently on Lamictal 100mg. My pdoc put me on lexapro as well cause I had hit an all time low. She said lexapro takes less time to work. I already feel less depressed, not completely better but it takes time I know. Anyone have any experience with this drug? Good, bad? Anything?
Avatar m tn I am on 200mg Lamictal and 20mg Lexapro. When I was on Lamictal and Seroquel, I asked the doc to take me off the seroquel because I gained 30 lbs. in 2 months, it made me very tired all the time, and my hair started to fall out. The Lamictal/Lexapro combination seems to work best for me.
Avatar n tn 2 days ago my psychiatrist advised me to change my Lexapro 20mg to Celexa 20mg. Is it normal for a patient to switch overnight from Lexapro to Celexa like this? She advised me to just stop the Lexapro. I realize that they are very similar in makeup but i'm just worried that i will get too depressed in the meantime.
561374 tn?1234486061 Hi everyone! I was recently prescribed Lexapro and Lamictal. I was just wondering if there was anyone who has taken Lexapro could you tell me how long it takes to take effect? Also, does anyone know the major side effects of either of these medications? Is there weight gain?
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for a while a few years ago but now my insurance won't cover it. At the time, there were sexual side effects too. Now my insurance covers Celexa. I tried Celexa and it was definitely not a good thing, threw me hypomanic/manic. If I could, I would take the Lexapro again and just take the medicine for the side effects (which are covered by my insurance!). I don't remember any weight gain on Lexapro either.
Avatar f tn I take 10 mg of Lexapro and 50 mg of Lamictal every day, for depression and type 2 bipolar disorder. I have hand tremors. Is it possible that one or both medications are causing my hands to tremble?
Avatar f tn I took Lexapro 10mg on and off for three years and recently was upped to 15mg for two weeks and then 20mg for 5 weeks. It helped so much before, my symptoms were almost gone! Now it's losing its effectiveness, I think. I felt fine for a week on the new dosage, thought I was improving, only to feel horrible again... I'm going to wait another week (6 weeks in total) but I doubt much difference will be made in that time.
Avatar f tn I suppose that I didn't convey my situation properly. I have terrible depression and constant anxiety that has been kept at bay with antidepressants for 7 years. I will gladly put up with side effects to ensure that I feel mentally able to live my life. I am graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing this may and I have to have some stabilization in order to function. I have done well in the past on paxil, prozac, and lexapro but for some reason they keep "pooping out".
Avatar f tn When I got off that stuff and started the Lamictal and Lexapro, at first I was not able to sleep at all -- It got so bad I was really AFRAID to go to bed at night because I knew I would be tossing and turning all night long. What a mess I was -- first afraid to wake up and then afraid to go to sleep. But after several weeks on the Lamictal and Lexapro I am now sleeping normally, about 7-8 hrs. a night which is good for me -- without the fatigue during the day.
Avatar n tn I gained 30 lbs in 2 months on depakote -- doc took me off it and now on Lamictal and Lexapro. No problems so far, I'm feeling OK, and have lost 24 lbs in 3 months, still losing weight.
Avatar f tn My doc has me on Lamictal, along with Lexapro. Certain antidepressants can cause mania to increase, but others such as Lexapro can control the depression as well as help with the anxiety, insomnia and mood swings. Check with your doc about this. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn I take 200 mg. Lamictal BID for epilepsy. I've been taking 20 mg. Lexapro at night for depression. Old psychiatrist said to increase Lamictal to 200 mg. in morning. Due to insurance I'm now seeing a new psychiatrist. New one said I should always have taken Lexapro in morning to get my mind going and to step up Lamictal in weekly increments until I'm at 300 mg. Who do I believe?
1220347 tn?1345428521 Hello. :) I suffer from bipolar type 2 and I'm taking lexapro 20mg, anti depressant, and lamictal (probably spelled it wrong) 100mg, mood stabilizer. Since I have started taking them, I have definately improved, however, I'm not satisfied.
333664 tn?1220800790 s made depression worse. Currently take lamictal for depression and klonopin for anxiety/panic disorder. Lexepro started panic attacks and still have them one year later. I still have spotty panic attacks and depression with the use of said drugs. Upped the dose of lamictal from 25 to 50 mg. a day and now have insomnia with depression. Klonopin seems to work well for anxiety but not the panic attacks. Still waiting for a depression med that works. By the way .5mg klonopin mornings and evenings.
Avatar f tn I seem to be very forgetfull, at least that's what my husband tells me. I feel confused at times and clear at times. It may go with my mood. I use to be the best speller and can't think of how to spell simple words. I get frustrated. I'm on depakote, Lamictal 100mg, Lexapro, and amitriptyline for pain from my fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Lamictal (400mg/day) and Lexapro (20mg/day). I've been on this combination of medication for approximately 4 years. Before this combo I tried pretty much every medication out there (Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Depakote, Zoloft, and Pamelor just to name a handful) and this is the only combo that has been successful.
Avatar n tn Is this likely a symptom of either the hypomanic episode or the lexapro use? Since, has switched back to low-dose Zoloft and low-dose Lamictal for mood stabilization, and is doing very well. Supposed "possible emergence of bi-polar disorder" has been re-diagnosed as drug-emergent hypomanic episode. Any insight appreciated. 433485 tn?1321813390 Hi. I am on Lexapro and klonopin, lamictal and seraquel. I am diagnosed bipolar 2. I have been feeling pretty good lately but my question is, has any one experienced anxiety, even with being on meds?
Avatar n tn Yeah, it seems like you might have been over-consuming; 750 is a grip, and to just stop...try it and see...but do theropy. I quit, but started drink a week or so later. still super negative, i'm losing all so called friends....
1190024 tn?1264688422 Over the next 15 years I tried Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, and several others. I always quit taking my meds because I never could feel as though they were doing anything, even though others around me said they could notice a difference..? Honestly, I don't feel "sad or blue" but I do have some s/s of depression. I'm more angry than "sad" and I have great anxiety and lots of stress.
Avatar n tn I just started wellbutrin four days ago. I am taking 150mg XL with Lamictal. (The reason I started the Wellbutrin is because I was taking Celexa and couldn't handle the weight gain). The last two days I have been edgy, angry, yelling, up and down in my emotions. Fine one hour and angery the next. This is worse then when I wasn't on it. I am wondering if these are symptoms starting out with it, gets worse then better? Did anyone have side effects starting this medication? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have not noticed that symptom with any of the numerous meds I've been on over the years. Currently on lamictal 200mg and lexapro 20mg and no excess urination problems. If something else is causing your problem, I know the doc can prescribe medicines that will limit your need to urinate so often. But your doc should check every other possible cause to be sure there is not another medical condition.
Avatar m tn It was under control with bupropion and lamictal but I still did not feel like the depression was lifted. doc suggested going off of bupropion and switch to paxil. It has been 11 days. still taking the bupropion 150 and lamictal 100 but have had to start taking a lot more klonopin because to the rise in anxiety and I don't like taking this.
Avatar f tn I've usually always take a mood stabilizer, ie. Lamictal & a anti psychotic, ie. Seroquel. I take them in combination or ill be extremely manic. I've tried depakote & the only issue was weight gain & slight hair loss. I haven't noticed many side effects w/ lamictal. I think combining lamictal w/ lithium is a good decision.
Avatar n tn I take a drug called lamictal. Prior to taking Lamictal I was extremely tired depressed ,agitated and snappy under stress. I have no enjoyment or interest in anything including my work which I use to enjoy. My only interst is the bible and going to church. I had and still have to a lesser degree racing thoughts and trouble concentrating. I have always had attention or zoning out issues since I was a child but I had always been happy.
