My question is, when God willing the time comes, what is the track record with these drugs and pregnancy and breast feeding?

I feel so much better and hopeful that the Lamictal will finally get me feeling better without the nasty side effects. I will watch for the rash. And hopefully I can lose the weight I gained on depakote.

I have taken Lamictal, 25mg for over a year with no side effects and positive results. I had a bad episode and several flashbacks a few months ago. My Doc wants me to go up to 200mg. ve been titrating down from 300mg by 25mg/wk and the side effects have been horrific; nausea, headaches, blurred vision. The side effects from toxicity still exist; itching,burning/tingling, pins &amp; needles, bone ache and stiffness in legs all still exist as well.

I hope it fades for you simply because the SSRI and SNRI and even Tri-cyclic options are far worse in terms of sexual side effects. You should read my post about a new type of SSRI that is now in Phase 3 trials. It is a very new and different type of antidepressant that has no reported sexual side effects. Lets hope the FDA grants approval for it soon.

I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds. The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?

I do know that all antipsychotics can cause anti-cholinergic side effects which are typically blurred vision, dry mouth and sometimes trouble urinating so you could speak to your psychiatrist about that as one potential cause.

I take Lamictal and Zoloft and I drink alot everynight and the reason is self medication because the real meds aren't working. So far, the only side effects I've had are headaches and severe hangovers and visits to the porcelin god. I don't recommend drinking while on ANY meds. Since lamictal has great results, statistically, I think I am going to stick with it and see if the side effects will go away eventually. It could also be that I am weaning off Keppra, now at 500mg at night and this is what is causing it. Who knows....

I am on Lamictal and Geodone. It is a good combination for me. Didn't get any side effects with the Lamictal. With Geodone I have a few side effects. One side effect is I lost a lot of weight. Which was good to begin with as I was a size 12 going on to 14 but I am now a size six. I really have to watch that I don't lose anymore weight. I'd like to gain some muscle tone too. I also have some agitation, or it increased what was already there. I alway fidgited now I do it more.

I have been taking medicines for Bipolar since I was diagnosed in 1990 and all gave me some pretty bad side effects except Lamictal. When I switched from valporic acid to Lamictal all my side effects disappeared with in a couple of weeks. Lamictal is now available in generic.

My doctor suggested eye exam first and if normal, stop taking lamictal to see if it is that causing my additional symptoms, then if still there,look at ms as possibility My problem with this is that my vision is blurry in only one eye, and I have been taking lamictal a long time with no side effects except for pain relief and help with fatigue.
