lamictal

Avatar n tn I have a full body sun burn looking rash. Have been on Lamictal one year, then all of the sudden this sunburn rash started on the back of my neck and then chest, and now full body. Dry, red skin, itchy, hot and tender like a sunburn. I was out in the sun without a shirt for about 30 minutes the day before the rash started. Has been 2 weeks now, and still have it. At first my doctors did not believe it was the Lamictal since I had been on it for one year already.
Avatar m tn Had some rash but I use Piriton - simple stuff for rash and it helped. I had this kind of rash before - it is probably sun allergy. I burnt my arm in the summer and the rash comes back to that place very often. With Lamictal it was just in more places. AT the moment I have no rash. I am so far on 150 mg as I started 3 months ago. I have also Citalopram 20 mg.
899491 tn?1243773627 A rash is SERIOUS! Lamictal can cause a life threatening rash or even death. Your doctor should have taken this seriously!
Avatar f tn I take Lamictal, Seroquel, Zoloft and Wellbutrin. Lamictal works VERY well. I'm really pleased with the medication. Lamictal is a rashy drug - so don't be concerned if you get a rash. Chances that its the toxic rash are VERY VERY low. Only be concerned if you get a rash and a fever together. CrazyMeds website explains this all pretty well. The only side effect I get from Lamictal is the stupid "Lamictal Headache." Which can be a bother.
524020 tn?1223161005 I was on lamictal and ativan at the same time - I was okay until my son was murderedin 1/05 - and then it seemed like nothing helped - suffered from PTSD so I was going from one med to the other - however doctor kept me on lamictal than I switched doctors and the new one put me on 400 mgs of lamictal and that's when my problems started I got bad rash and once you get a rash from lamictal you can't go back on it - however I was okay under regular dose of 200 mgs - also had problems when d
767237 tn?1332640177 Basic ground rule of Lamictal from when I was on it was to report any sign of a rash. I had a rash when I started Lamictal and it turned out to be some form of psoriasis that was completely unrelated so don't panic about it but do tell your doctor.
Avatar n tn Common side effects with LAMICTAL include dizziness, headache, blurred or double vision, lack of coordination, sleepiness, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, tremor, and rash. LAMICTAL may cause other side effects not listed here. If you develop any side effects or symptoms you are concerned about, or if you need more information, call your doctor.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how the side effect rash looks like or strats from taking lamictal. My problem is I just started taking it 5 days ago and now I feel like bugs are crawling all over me. I have a rash starting on my leg that itches like a razor rash. I am not sure if I am having severe anxiety attack or if this is a side effect from the Lamictal. Please respond if you know anything about this. I am going crazy.
1154462 tn?1327434379 Something to bear in mind with the Lamictal and the rash potential. For me, the medication dries out my skin like you wouldn't believe. Because of that I get contact dermatitis, which looks like a rash, initially. The rash isn't something to mess around with, but there were a few scares where the dry skin was causing problems; it wasn't an allergic reaction. Obviously, if you think it's a rash, take it seriously.
Avatar n tn Been taking Lamictal "slowly " for 2 1/2 weeks ---I believe I am starting a slight rash ...don't feel it...but... how do I know when to seek medical attention?
399052 tn?1259621083 Your doctor needs to research lamictal on the web because there is an extremely serious rash that can affect a person taking lamictal. Not saying you have the rash, but your doctor should know this. You need to see a psychiatrist that knows these drugs.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER and was told to stop my medication, which I did(they put me on steroids for the reactions). It has been 3days now since I had last taken lamictal and the mouth blisters and rash in my vaginal area is still there. Not to mention, I am feeling the withdrawals horribly! I feel light headed, unbalanced, confused, so exhausted, my eyes are very sore, I feel depressed, mood swings from hell, my spine tingles and today my cheek went numb for about 30minutes!
Avatar f tn m sure your psychiatrist has been through this but it will take a couple of months to build up to a proper dose because Lamictal must be raised at a slow rate because of the potential of a rare rash (which is only 1 in a thousand people who take it and lowers after the first six months). I and many people found Lamictal to be quite tolerable as a medication but I remember when I was on it it took a while to feel it working at the dosage rate required.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, we have only tried lamictal and my daughter got a horrible ringworm rash, which could have been actually triggered by lamictal so she's now on keppra. Thank you!
1134609 tn?1269272200 I did develop a rash when first starting Lamictal, but I didn't have any of the other allergic signs that went with it. My shrink wasn't too concerned with it, as the original studies discussing the allergic reaction included patients that had their dose increased far to quickly. I had a BP friend who discontinued Lamictal use, for one reason or another, decided to get back on it and jumped back up to her full dose of 400mgs.
Avatar f tn Serious rash associated with hospitalization and dicontinuation of LAMICTAL......Among the rashes leading to hospitalization were Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, angioedema, and a rash associated with a variable number of the following syustemic manifestations: fever, lymphadenopathy, facial swelling, hematologic, and hepatologic abnormalities.
6827092 tn?1389384819 DEFINITELY, you have to go to the ER now and bring your lamictal and other meds with you. You have to go now, because if it is the bad rash, you have to be treated immediately. I got the bad rash, and we caught it in time. It isn't for the psychiatrist to treat but a medicine M.D. I am 12 hours behind your post, so I hope you followed Lexis advise. If it isn't something to worry about, let the doctor decide that, not you. They have to look at it. That is what happened to me.
Avatar f tn He gave Lamictal, and told me that we r going to increase the dose slowly to avoid rash. Yesterday was my 1st dose of Lamictal and ended up in ER because I had allergic reaction and blister rash in mouth. ER told me to stop the med. Now I don't know what do, I want feel better and have my life back but I am scared to try new med due to lot of suffering of severe side effects. I am not bipolar.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed Bipolar II with minor depression and was put on Lamictal teetering up 25 mg every 2 weeks with 150mg Wellbutrin (Zyban) the aim was to reach 200mg and see how I feel, by the start of the seventh week, I got tiny itchy patches on my cheeks that flaired up after I took the Lamictal… so stopped lamictal, (remained on the wellbutrin) and went on an antihistamine (Atarax) for a 2 weeks 25/50mg, did some surface (72 hour skin contact) allergy tests and came negative for Lamictal so I w
Avatar f tn All I can do is convey my personal experience with Lamictal. First time I took it, I developed a rash similar to the one you mention, on my thigh, then it progressed to shingles. The second time I took the drug two years later I developed a Stevens Johnson reaction. No comment or speculation here, just stating my facts. Use the info as you see fit.
Avatar m tn s Johnson Syndrome) its an incredibly rare allergic reaction to Lamictal. It can happen with other medications. Lamictal just gets the most bad press about it. Its not something to be frightened of considering its rarity. When you start it, if you have any sign of a rash see your doctor asap and if its stopped in time the rash goes away. That's why Lamictal by FDA regulations must be titrated upwards at 25 mg.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed with bipolar depression in March. I was prescribed Lamictal and Klonopin to start out. Two weeks later, after an alcohol related suicide attempt, I was put on Wellbutrin for depression. I take 200mg twice a day. I take 150mg of Lamictal, I take 1 mg of Ativan as needed and was recently put on Busbar (starting out with 5mg twice a day and working my way to 10mgs twice a day). I have had severe anxiety and panic attacks for years now, which is due to a laundry list of things.
Avatar f tn However, after discontinued Lamictal, I was prescribed Depakote/Valproat, but didn´t gave me anything near Lamictal in terms of relaxing me. Last Monday I got to try Lamictal again, with the goal of reaching 100mg and stay there. But after 1-2 days I got a little burning feeling again, but no flu or rash yet. It´s so sad because I´ve feel more myself with this medicine than any other medication. Even that I´ve taken 25mg now I´m more relaxed in body and mind.
Avatar m tn Sedation also a lot less of a problem. I think you know about the potential of a rare rash and that is 1 in a thousand and goes down to far less than that after 6 months. Basically, its not something to be highly concerned about but report any rash to your doctor. However, it is essential to follow the titration schedule for raising it for that reason. It will take a while to build up to a proper dose so in the meantime if you feel manic something else could be added.
