Lamictal night sweats

Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal night sweats

lamictal

I am taking 300mg of effexor and 200mg of Lamictal at morning, and 250mg of Lamictal at night. I have been having nightmares and night twiching and night sweats. It seems like it happens more when I miss a dose of effexor. It happens every time I miss a dose of effexor but sometimes, infrequently, when I don't. What could be causing this? I understand that this does not commonly happen due to effexor but I am sure that it is related.
I know you aren't a specialist in other fields, lol, but do you by chance know other reasons for random bouts of night sweats other than infection or illness?
None of the above are known to cause night sweats, but Lamictal is known to cause skin rashes, so be on the alert. Its possible that the night sweats are from some other medical condition( so see your doctor) or from the combination of so many potent medications all affecting interrelated brain chemistry centers.
I'd get up in the morning and feel completely fine, and felt no sickness during the day. Since then, I get night sweats a few times a month. (I am currently on 200mg Lamictal which is a mood stabilizer and I'm on 200mg Zoloft which is an antidepressant. To my knowledge those are pretty high doses. I have been informed that nearly half of the people on my meds experience night sweats. If it were HIV, would there have been fever and other symptoms present?

Hello I have been on lamictal/lamotrigine (don't know the difference between the two of em) for a couple of months. And I have been experiencing night sweats every night for the last couple of weeks. My wife says it stinks. It smells of urine. and no, I'm not a bedwetter. When I was younger, I used to be on seroxat and i remember sweating a lot during the night back then. However, I sweat profusely when doing sports. So maybe it's just me and not the drugs.

When I talked to my psy doc, he agreed it was my Effexor, in fact it was well known that Effexor can cause night sweats but my doc didn't warn me about that. Anyway, the sweats went away as soon as I dropped my dose. I hope you find the cause of your nightmares and sweats to be something simple. It's always scary when new and bizarre issues pop up. Let us know what you find out.
hello my name is Lorrie I'm 38 years old was on lamictal for about six months stopped it once for a week then they started me on it again. A dose of Effexor greater than 75mg made me have night sweats like crazy so we added Abilify. Glad I did bc I haven't haven't had serious depression since Xmas 2012. This is just one suggestion. Everyone's meds are so different. Best wished figuring out what works for you. Keep posting until you feel better.
And I tried Effexor at 150mg in combo with just Lamictal, but any dose of Effexor over 75mg for me made me have night sweats. I was worried I had something else going on with my health until I figured out it was the Effexor. I'm still debating whether or not I will keep my Abilify bc it is expensive for me. I may go back to just Lamictal and Effexor but worry about setting myself up for a rocky road. Like we said, finding the right med/s is frustrating.
Ryan, I took 1/4 of a 0.5 Clonazepam ast night along with my half of a Flexeril,(5.0) and woke up with really big bang anxiety. So I this morning I had to go back and take a .05 Ativan and I also took half a 0.5 Clonazepam. Should I take both for a while? For how long? Or jus increase the Clonazepam and stop the Ativan. I get such pains in my back and shoulders and neck. I think it's from no Ativan. What should I do?
I thought the abilfy was causing me diziness but even after stopping it im still dizzy and more deprressed and having sweats on this lamictal so dr said i should go back on abilify..everyone that knows me said i seemed so much better on the abilfy...i just sit around on this ;lamictal,,,,,,,,,so im gonna try abilfy again i ws on it for 3 months,,,,,,,,,,,,,my question is does it seem to affect sexual desires?
I am aware that anti depressants can cause night sweats but I had been on them for 6 months before I had the night sweats. I also know that anxiety can cause night sweats but I am wondering if all of these symptoms suggest diabetes or hypoglycemia. I've read that low blood sugar can cause night sweats, but I was just confused that they stopped. I still sweat somewhat at night, but not as much as before.
I then started having night terrors and sweats. Then all my muscles started.and the sweats all day and night. and severe pain. I did all the meds neurotin, Lyrica, Cymbalts etc... I am now on 80mgs oxycontin, percocet , paxil, lamictal and several other meds for my heart and honestly feel there is something else going on. I am so depressed, and live in my home. I went from a semi pro bass fisherman and outdoorsmen to a recluse. I don 't know what to do or who to see.
Lamictal works wonderfully to stabilize my moods, and is, to my understanding, very commonly used for mood disorders. My psych has had me on it for years, and works in colaboration with my neuro so that I get double work out of it as it also works as a migraine medication. I take 150mg tabs 2x/day. Any time we try to drop back on my dose, I immediately get more unstable and we have to quickly up the dose again.
My withdrawal symptoms included chills, feverish feeling, cold night sweats, vivid dreams, ants running through your veins and muscles, etc. They are just begining to subside after 10 days. My other symptoms of anergy, tearfulness, irritability, poor sleep and poor concentration still persist. I have a question for you. How long did it take for the lithium to help you, what were the side-effects as you were increasing the dosage, and did they go away?
IMOVANE (14mg) for the past 3 months or so IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS i have been experiencing the following symptoms (and in a very serious way) * fatigue * nausea * Shaking/ tremor (BAD) * reflux * Night sweats * vivid dreams * decreased appetite * anxiety ++ * no interest in sex at all * stiff muscles I have to take the cymbalta but want to wein myself off the others- is there any explaination as to why im feeling these side effects?? Why are they so bad?
Rather than doing what I did, you may want to dump the SSRI's and SNRI meds as well as the Mood stabilizing meds like Lamictal and Abilify. Lamictal and Abilify never seem to work very well for us Uni-polar folks. I have tried them before with my AD meds just as a booster and mood stabilizer and I have found that Eskalith 450cr works the best for a booster type effect on AD meds such as SSRI's, SNRI's and Tri-cyclics.
I have had five in three weeks. They are almost always at night after I have been asleep for a couple of hours. I wake up having lower abdomenal cramping, then I feel an extreme heat come over my whole body. Sweat pours off my body and I become pail in color. I am so hot that my husband says he can feel the heat coming off of me.
you can just tell the difference), night sweats, and a constant hissing/ringing in my ear. It sounded like very light crickets chirping, with a mild hiss, in might right ear only. That did it for me. I refused to take it any more; there was no way I was going to continue with the hope that the side effects would just disappear. Anyway, the ringing almost completely went away but I still notice it a bit here and there, so I wonder if a bit of ear damage may have been done.
The shakes racing heart sweats inability to breath but it gave me a headache if I took it too often. I think it was affecting my blood pressure.
One night he slammed by body against the ground. I knew I had to leave in order to survive. Then I moved to another state... I had night sweats and issues coping. Would go into the bathroom and cry in random places. I was just always crying. During my sleep I had wanted to punch the air. I remember although it feels very distant now how bad my body felt then. My whole body ached. How I would just react instead of being rational.
My temperature is not high - no fever - but for some reason I am having night sweats. I have been for an MRI where they found 3 very small spots but of no concern. My hormones are okay. I have completely lost any (of what I had) sexual desire in the past 12 months. (My husband and I have had sex 2 times in the past 10 months.) I have gained 20 lbs in that same time.
Lithium has less severe side effects than Lamictal in fact Lamotrigine prescribing information has a black box warning about life threatening skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis and its side effects also include (Commonly) headaches, dizziness and insomnia.
I have tried Prozac, Celexa, Lamictal, Neuronton, Paxil etc.. and I have suffered all side effects that come with, especially having ZERO sex drive. At this time I am only using Wellbutrin, waiting for something better. I still have ZERO sex drive, extreme urinary hesitation and frequently at odd times, dizziness, night sweats. Nothing seems to help my Agoraphobia, so I spend 90% of my life inside and I can hardly make my appointments.
) She has frequent heart palpitations (up to 180 bpm) and cardiologist suggested testing thyroid. Has anxiety 5 or 6 SSRIs have failed to help. Chronic insomnia. Sometimes has night sweats and dizziness/fainting episodes. Takes Allegra for allergies, risperidone to see if helps anxeity, lamictal for epilepsy, and spironalactone for hormone issue (high testosterone). Also Zofran for chronic unexplained nausea and vomiting (2 years).
After I reached a therapeutic dose, I found the paxil wasn't enough to keep me from my OCD, my negative thoughts, my sometimes emotional outbursts and crying jags and my panic. So a doc then prescribed me Lamictal, an anti seizure med also known to work in conjuction with an antidepressant to assist in stablizing mood disorders. It did help. Along with a mild valium for when i have a really tough time, esp around the week or two before my cycle.
Now I'm stopping 2-3 vicodens I've been on for the past year (trying to put off another back surgery) and beside night sweats, it's been OK. If you want to quit on your own, I'd strongly recommend a slow taper. But I'm bipolar I and I take Lamictal (anti-convulsant) and Seroquil so I sleep fine.
I want to go back to feeling myself again like 7 months ago the day before I woke up and my life had changed with a major panic attack and a trip to the er, I want to be me again like the night before that awful day. It so hard I know life is not fair but it really is not fair.
