Avatar f tn stopped the lamictal last night and wnet back on abilify last night feel like i have sores in my mouth this morning,,,strange could this be from the lamictal...........
574118 tn?1305135284 My daughters experience with the Lamictal is she HAS to take it at night because it makes her so sleepy. She currently takes 100mg.. has been as high as 200mg... Talk to the PDOC about how to adjust the time you take it. I would think that all in the morning would not be an issue- unless you can't tolerate it.
Avatar f tn HI,I was put on Lamictal yesterday...Dr feels it might help with my deprssion as i cant seem to take antidepressants.I was in abilify but i started about 3 weeks into gettting extremely dizzy so she had me stop it last week,i saw her on Monday and she put me on 25 mg of Lam ictal as to build up to more....
Avatar m tn I have been on Lamictal and Cymbalta for some time. I was taking 100mg of the Lamictal, but was recently increased to 200mg. I asked to be taken off the Cymbalta because I thought I was having a bad side effect from it....profuse sweating! But it hasn't stopped. I am active and go to the gym on a regular basis and it's just plain embarrassing having sweat pouring off my head & body. It also smells like ammonia. I am ruining a lot of my clothes and it's maddening.
Avatar f tn I take it early in the morning instead of at night when the pdoc prescribed it. Then at night when I take my last does of lithium, the lamictal doesn"t affect my sleep by that point. Have you tried taking it early in the am? I know my pdoc originally prescribed it at night but when I told him it kept me up he said as long as I took it he didn't care what time it was. It really works for me this way. Try it out if you haven't already and hopefully that will do the trick.
1114269 tn?1258680912 Thanks folks for your answers. I have tried Seroquel and had a bad cardiac (tachycardia) response to it, and that class of drugs in general is not good for me (have had same problems). I'm also having problems with Ativan at the moment, have been taking 1mg at night every night for about 8 months. If I don't take one, I have the most horrible violent nightmares ever. So I don't know what to do.
994257 tn?1266242692 I am constantly dreaming all night long and never wake up feeling refreshed. I take 200mg of Lamictal everyday for Bipolar II disorder, but I have dreamed like this for as long as I can remember. I can wake up and immediately go back to the dream I was in. I just want to feel well rested.....any ideas why I dream all night long??
Avatar f tn This started weeks ago and I was on seroquel at the time, and I may have even started 25mg of lamictal. But yesterday I felt very sensitive after taking my lamictal, and it progressed like a roller coaster making it's incline to the top, then drops down faster as we get closer to my night time dose of lamictal. When it peaked, I experienced an emotional fit in which I cried a lot and and it brought up feelings from my childhood (I was very sensitive and lacked self esteem as a child).
202665 tn?1248806733 So, my pdoc mixes in yet another drug in my ever growing cocktail - Abilify. The plan is to start taking this to better control my hypomania and depressed states when they happen since the lamictal doesn't seem to be doing it. She's asked me to use the Abilify at night in place of the lamictal and if that works, replace lamictal all together - no change to the cymbalta or lithium. Does anyone have any information on Abilify - has it worked, any side affects, etc?
1372629 tn?1278521051 Seemed like I stayed up forever last night ( took my 1st dose last night) Also is it okay to take my zoloft and lactimal together?? Thank you for any input.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Zoloft and Lamictal (and Trazadone for sleep at night), but I'm feeling like the only way out of the bind I am in is to actually *be* a little manic. (I haven't had a manic episode in a long time - actually, I was only ever hypomanic.) I have had a hopeless feeling and I don't actually think it's depression - I think it's real, and I am wondering about the potential to get *more* depressed if I go off Lamictal, or if it shouldn't matter.
Avatar m tn I don't think lamictal is addictive. I've been on many high and low doses over the last 10 yrs: never experienced side effects and never relieved any symptoms. "I am more manic and very rarely depressed when I'm not medicated." Lamictal is prescribed for people who lean more towards the depressive side than manic side and/or hypomania. Did you try lithium or depakote first? They are usually the first prescribed mood stabilizers for mania.
1540869 tn?1351214013 I cannot believe they let it get that far without taking you off. I was just on zoloft and clonazapam and i just got switched to buspar and lamictal . I'm taking it for depression and bipolar . But if i have any problems with my balance or remembering things i will get off of it immediately . It would be awesome if they could make just 1 medication that didn't have any side effects wouldn't it?
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have been on Lamictal for 8 months and evened out very well. However, over the last few weeks, I started to cycle again, my doctor put me on Lithium. It seems to be helping; I'm not really cycling and it's kind of pulled me out of the depressive funk I've been in for awhile. However, I am having a hard time sleeping since starting the Lithium. I've read that many of the side effects from the medication dissipate after awhile; will the insomnia go away as well?
Avatar m tn I am on Trileptal, Lamictal, and Luvox. The only reason why I am really confused is because we haven't made any medication changes for quite a while now. I was very stable for a while, and still am emotionally, but these nightmares and sweats are getting a bit concerning. I just don't like not knowing what is going on with my body. Can your medication start giving you side effects even after being on them for a long time.
Avatar m tn I am still having sudden racing heart and waking at night with racing heart beat . This just started about a month ago . There is no heart problems in my family I have never had a problem with my heart this is the first. The first time it happen I had a sharp pain in my chest it woke me up in bed . I went to doctor I had shoveled snow that day my doc thought perhaps a pulled muscle caused it . The pain has ended but the fast heart rate is still happening.
Avatar f tn Well I was on Lamictal for almost 10 years and at higher doses (I was told by my psychopharmocologist this was not uncommon) that it could worsen mania and that's why I was changed to another mood stabilizer. Speak to your psychiatrist and make sure that's not the cause of the mania (of course it could easily be that its just not working well enough and the whole issue is their judgment).
Avatar n tn In the meantime, I started taking Lamictal 25 mg. My question is, will Lamictal help with the hyper state that Zoloft put me in (racing thoughts) and how long does it take. I have finished my first week and feel the same, except my jumping leg has subsided (probably from discontinuing the Zoloft). It seems Lamictal is good for depression, but I am afraid it will have the same effect Zoloft did on me. P.S.
Avatar f tn I chose Lamictal, she was okay with trying it. She wanted to give me Haldol and/or seroquel. I cant stand feeling sedated at all, I think the toxic feeling of lithium plus the lack of mild racing thoughts drove me to the breakthrough mania. Who knows? I studied as many meds as I could to see what I thought would fit. It sounds like I run like your mania all the time, then it goes over the top.
Avatar n tn However, she said I may be the treatment resistence type so prescribed me 25MG of lamictal to add to my 37.5mg of Effexor XR. I am supposed to take 12.5mg/day for one week then start on the full 25mg. I took the first 12.5mg last night and this morning I woke up feeling hungover, with tense twitching muscles and slight vision troubles. I felt groggy until about 3pm today. Is this normal when starting this medicine--will these side effects wear off usually? thanks all.
Avatar n tn my son is taking 200 mg of lamictal in the morning and 200mg of lamictal in the everning (400mg daily) for seizure control. he has been on lamictal for approximately 3 years and has been a very successful drug. Just recently he went to the family doctor for routine blood work and they called the other day to say his lamictal level was 9.5. They say a normal level is 1 to 4. Should we be concerned about this number? What should we do? Our neurologist is in Colorado and is a 3.5 hour drive.
Avatar f tn The ONLY time I feel stable is about 45 minutes to an hour after I take the Lamictal at night. When I get up in the morning, I am confused, tired (exhausted), paranoid, racing thoughts, severe anxiety, naseous (I have lost over 50 pounds in six months (a lot because I can't eat during the day). The loss of appetite is about the same time that I took Geodon. I'm now off of Geodon. The symptoms haven't improved. I really haven't felt well for about a year.
524020 tn?1223161005 I was on lamictal and ativan at the same time - I was okay until my son was murderedin 1/05 - and then it seemed like nothing helped - suffered from PTSD so I was going from one med to the other - however doctor kept me on lamictal than I switched doctors and the new one put me on 400 mgs of lamictal and that's when my problems started I got bad rash and once you get a rash from lamictal you can't go back on it - however I was okay under regular dose of 200 mgs - also had problems when d
Avatar n tn I took my last pill last night. I called my psychiatrist and left a message to ask if he at least has some samples in his office to carry me over until the insurance issue is dealt with. I have not heard back from him, nor has the pharmacy received anything from him. I am so scared; my last pill was last night and I have no idea how bad withdrawls will be from this. Cymbalta's withdrawls are already kicking my butt.
Avatar n tn Risperdal is generally sedating rather than activating and Lamictal as well though in higher doses Lamictal can sometimes worsen mania as an occasional side effect though each person responds differently to each medication. Best to discuss these concerns with his psychiatrist so they can adjust and/or change his medication as needed.
Avatar f tn My daughter is now experiencing several side effects to keppra. She is extremely drowsy, very short tempered, depressed, and is reporting to me that her memory is 'foggy'. She's on a very low dose of keppra, only 250 mg at night and 125 mg in the morning. She's been on it a total of 3 weeks now. I've been with her and she seems to be very melancholy and also short fused over the many situations. She weighs 100 pounds and is 20 years old.
Avatar f tn ve been on Klonopin 10 years and it actually helps adjust sleep. It would more likely be the Lamictal but speak to your psychiatrist about it. Unless the Lamictal is sedating perhaps you could ask them if the time when you take it could be adjusted so it was earlier so it would not interrupt sleep.
1310468 tn?1274863925 Lamictal works wonderfully to stabilize my moods, and is, to my understanding, very commonly used for mood disorders. My psych has had me on it for years, and works in colaboration with my neuro so that I get double work out of it as it also works as a migraine medication. I take 150mg tabs 2x/day. Any time we try to drop back on my dose, I immediately get more unstable and we have to quickly up the dose again.
