lamictal for pms

Hi all After a couple of weeks of reducing my 700mg daily dose, took my final Lithium tablet just over a week ago. I followed doctors orders as to the withdrawal timescale, and they said it should not cause any problems. They advised that it's just a type of salt, and is not even technically a drug, so it's not the same as withdrawing from other meds.

I have been on Lamictal for 18 months now and I have found it to be a lifesaver for me. I have found that I am not as impulsive as I was, nor do my moods fluctuate erratically anymore. I have experienced some side effects such as going through a period of being emotionless, and my weight has increased. I did still suffer with some depression so the docs have added Cymbalta and Abilify with my 200 mg a day of Lamictal. Now, life is good!

I had been doing so well on the lamictal and cymbalta that I thought I had no need for psychiatrist for the last 10 months or so. Now, bam, I need one and who wants to start with a patient that already has SJS. When I had dbl couverage insurance I could get in anywhere. (least of problems) 4. The doctor came back and told me I was crying for a while I found out it was 4 hours later!!!! I was depressed for 3 days sleeping so much the nurses thought i was in a coma lol. When i woke up the 2 and 3 day I stared at the wall the whole time. Once my spikes climbed again to f4 I was back to my normal self. answered alot of questions for me on what my brain does during this time. I also asked them to make sure i was not bi polar and they said i was not.

I have been prescribed Lamictal (taking the generic Lamotrigine) for about 3 years now for my bipolar disorder alone. I started with 25 or 50 mg to see if I'd be allegoric and develop the rash that rarely happens but can be severe. My body didn't reacted poorly to it (my mother also took it before me and was ok as well) and I was moved to 100 mg then 150 mg and now have been on 200 mg for a year and a half.

My doctor switched me from Lexapro to Viibryd a week ago. I am experiencing increased appetite, gastrointestinal distress, and can't sleep.

I was taking a low dosage of prozac every two weeks out of the month for 5 years for bad PMS which my gyno prescribed...things got very stressful in my marriage and I went to a psychiatrist who wanted to put me on lexapro and lamictal for depression and anxiety. I knew I was not bi-polar so I refused to take the lamictal, but took dosages 10/15/20 mg of lexapro for a little over a year. The dr told me there are no side effects. Well how about gaining 25 lbs and being dead from the waist own!!!!

i need something for hypo mania and deppreshion..will the lamictal take care of them both?? at 25 mgs 1 aday 2 weeks then 50 mgs aday 2 weeks then 100 mgs aday till seen?????????

So I decided to ask different psyctrist for opinion, he said SSRI class is not working for me so he told to try different class because it work well for anxiety. He gave Lamictal, and told me that we r going to increase the dose slowly to avoid rash. Yesterday was my 1st dose of Lamictal and ended up in ER because I had allergic reaction and blister rash in mouth. ER told me to stop the med.

Hello, i am currently taking Lamictal. I have been absolutly fine for the 2 years i have been taking this medication for, until recently (3weeks). I have been having really bad jerking of the body and mouth. My doctor has told me that it is down to stress and anxiety, but i think its more to do with my Epilepsy.

Lamictal caused mental dulling and word finding issues for me.

I am BP and I try to convince my pdoc to try lamictal. He put me on tegretol instead which I couldn't bare. I read good things about lamictal. Why pdocs prefer AC as MS because more effective and longlasting than AP. Although I am on seroquel which is OK, I believe the best 2 meds invented so far though not tried neither is lamotrigine (lamictal) and abilify.

I have used lamictal for my bipolar 1 condition. It is a fantastic mood stabiliser especially for those with labile type symptoms. It is 1 of the newer ones they are using and I highly recommend it.

s the seroquel or the combination with lamictal, or if my brain is just fried from being depressed and bipolar for the last 30 yrs and on all sorts of different meds that work for a while, then need to be changed, over and over again. Life is a b*tch sometimes. But I try to look on the bright side even when there doesn't seem to be much of a bright side! Hope you feel better soon.

Why couldn't you go back on the Effexor xr if it was so effective for you? I had thought that Lamictal was pricey, too. Does your Dr. feel that you have BP? Not sure why she prescribed this. Based upon your post, it seems like Effexor xr worked the best for you. I'd suggest that you let your Dr. know that you felt your best on the Effexor xr, and perhaps something can be worked out. Are there samples available that your doctor could provide to you to help you with the financial aspects?

Does anyone know the theraputic range for lamictal? I have taken 1200mg lithium for 19 years but now I am having to switch to lamictal because of health reasons.

i use to take mine in the morning. i have no idea on zoloft though... lamictal made me a little lathargic.

I was diagnosed with BP II with more noticeable depression as well. I'm actually on a combo of Wellbutrin/Abilfy and it's the PERFECT combo for me. I was on lamictal and it made me crazy and had awful side effects. I've never taken Prozac or Lithium, as I've found a combo that works for me. I take 250mg Wellbutrin twice a day and 15mg of Abilify. I also take an anti-anxiety med and sleeping pills as needed.

Started taking Lithium changed after about 7 months due to weight gain to Lamictal. I have been on Lamictal ever since. However, I have felt that the depression, change in mood, higher anxiety, and confusion has started slowly but is here. Can my meds. stop working or helping me after a period of time?

I was on Lamictal for a couple of years and it was a great medicine for me. Excellent mood stabilizer in my opinion. Finding a therapeutic level took a little while and you have to go up slowly with Lamictal but I think it is a good med.

Lamictal has less of a potential for weight gain. As for the effects of specific medications on kidney function you'd have to ask your doctor about that. That is one of the side effects monitored for with lithium with the monthly blood test and not as much of a problem with other mood stabilizers but every medication has its specific set of side effects. Lithium does have a fair amount of side effects but its also highly effective.

That way, you don't suffer if missing a dose. I take 10mg 3 times a day. It used to just be 2x, but my job got stressful and we made an adjustment.
