Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal eyes

lamictal

Avatar m tn t mention the age of your son or the dosage of Lamictal. Lamictal is a pretty good drug but without the other information, it is difficult to make any suggestions.
Avatar n tn I was put on lamictal 6months ago. I recently had an allergic reaction to lamictal. Tiny clear blisters in my mouth, vaginal rash plus very swollen burning vagina, and red, burning, puffy skin on face. I went to the ER and was told to stop my medication, which I did(they put me on steroids for the reactions). It has been 3days now since I had last taken lamictal and the mouth blisters and rash in my vaginal area is still there. Not to mention, I am feeling the withdrawals horribly!
Avatar f tn I am on Lamictal 150 mg. I just reached this dosage yesterday. For the past two weeks as I have slowly increased dosage, I noticed that my hands, lips, and eyes were swollen. I am also having allergy-like nasal problems. This morning, my eyes were almost swollen shut. Could I be allergic to this drug? All I was warned about by my psychiatrist was a severe rash.
994257 tn?1266242692 Yes I had that problem when I was on Lamictal (and some other mood stabilizers as well). I know since I had trouble falling asleep in addition to sleep disruption I was prescribed the sleep aide Rozerem which is non addictive and actually adjusts the sleep cycle like melatonin but I don't know if it would be prescribed for sleep disruption but you could ask your psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn Has anyone ever been on Lithium and Lamictal at the same time? If so how did it work out? Yes I know everyone reacts differently. I am currently on -1350mg Lithium Carb ER -Klonpin 1mg X up 6 per day -Adderall 20mg X 2 per day I was on Celxa 40mg for about 4 months and was not good for me. Made me mad, no patinces, irrtable, ect. I would like to try Lamictal for BiPolar Depression?
574118 tn?1305135284 The problem is that i was always on antipsychotics once diagnosed 2 years ago, but never on a proper mood stabilizer. A month ago i got fed up and my pdoc started me on an infantile dose of 2mg then 4 of lamictal etc...gradually to avoid side effects, e.g rashes, etc... since i was in the depressed phase already it was assumed not to help immediately so i intervened with seroxat/paxil an AD until my lamictal kicks in.
Avatar f tn That rash is life-threatening and is most definitely caused by the Lamictal since you just doubled your dose. Lamictal increases are supposed to be VERY gradual. I am sorry you have to deal with this especially considering how well the Lamictal was working for you before.
Avatar f tn The neurologist had seen cases of lamictal so he identified my problem. I was taken off Lamictal and a couple of weeks later I had the worse attack of all, things everywhere in my house were moving around 100X worse, I would have thought that if I had another bout with wiggling things it would be mild but no this was horrifying.
Avatar m tn I do feel pressure ears and and nose inbetween eyes, behind the eyes and it feels like the muscles behind my eyes tight and weird. I did just hsve a biopsy on my breast done bc i found a lump. It is like an infection or something doctors arnt worried but the nurse said the doctor might or might not give me antibiotics which they haven't and its been a week and a half. I wonder if this is all caused by the infection if it is one.
Avatar m tn I have been out of the hospital for almost 2 weeks now after suffering Stevens Johnson syndrome from lamictal, a medication I was taking to treat Bipolar 2. I had a horrible rash all over my body, cold sores in my mouth and burnt lips. My liver enzymes were 1000. My eyes burned, nose burned and I got a yeast infection as a result. I feel much better as the rash is pretty much gone and my skin is peeling a little. However, my yeast infection seems to be back.
202665 tn?1248806733 Just curious, has anyone found that their medication has an effect on either their eyesight or the pressure in your eyes? Went to the eye doc and both distance and close up perscriptions have changes. also had very high pressures in my eyes. did not have these issues before taking all these medications. I'm wonderng if this is a side effect of medication...or me just getting older.
Avatar f tn What is your actual diagnosis? Lamictal is an odd choice of med if you're treating just depression and an anxiety disorder. Lamictal is typically prescribed for people with bi-polar disorder, which is a COMPLETELY different animal. Besides the Celexa and Lamictal, what other meds have you tried? Are you in therapy? It's hard to say if the itching is just a side effect or if it's related to an adverse reaction. Most allergic reactions would present with a rash.
Avatar f tn I just got put on lamictal almost two weeks ago. I took 25 mg daily for seven days and then 50 mg daily since last teusday. Everything seemed fine until last night. I felt very weird and shaky and my motor skills were very slow nd I felt very out of it. And when I went to bad I had terrible halusinations. Worse than I have ever had and weird images in my mind. I could not tell if my eyes were open or closed. And today I feel very shaky and unstable. It is even difficult to type this.
6827092 tn?1389384819 Hi 007Bunny! Well that's good. Sorry about your sun allergy. That's rough. Glad you went to the ER and that it only took less than an hour. 4 hours is short here. You can be waiting 16 hours to the next day to be seen. When there is Steven Josnson Syndrome suspected, they have to rush you because it is a race against the clock. Like strokes and heart attacks, the prognosis is best when treated as quickly as possible and goes downhill with every minute that ticks by.

Avatar f tn Hi Friendlysky137, Yeah my neurologist put me on the Lamictal with the Keppra to try stop everything but my eyes were still fluttering so he added the topomax after many years of just the Lamictal and Keppra. When I started the Lamictal, I felt fine but over time, I started feeling like you, my mind was starting to go. I have always been great at remembering numbers and things like that and found myself to be forgetting simple things.

Avatar m tn I have been on Lamictal for about 2 months. My dose was just increased from 100 mg to 150 mg a week and a 1/2 ago. The same day of the increase, I began to have tingling/burning on the left side of my face and tongue. I decreased the dose back down, but the tingling/burning sensation has progressed to my whole face, tongue, lips, ears, sometimes eyes. I have a minor rash in patches on my face, but it is nothing compared to the steven-johnson rash pictures online.
Avatar f tn My doc started me on lamictal, with 25mg/day and gradually working up. I'm now on 50 mg/day and tomorrow will go to 100mg, then a week later to my maintenance dose of 200mg/day. That seems like an awfully high dose to me. I'm feeling a lot better now on just the 50 mg -- why do I need to keep upping the dose? I don't see my doc for another month so that's why I'm posting the question here, to get other opinions before I go to see him.
Avatar n tn Hello Doctor, I am a 30 y/o male. I live in Hong Kong and back in July I took a trip to the USA to visit my family. I had been taking a combination of Effexor XR 37.5 & Lamictal 25mg with good results (about a year) for what I thought was treatment resistant depression and anxiety. The problem started the day after I returned to China. Had a busy 1st day, we did not have any food at home, so my GF wanted to go to the local supermarket to buy some snacks.
787406 tn?1339203183 Or my eyes feel like they are going crosseyed but not and it make my eyes hurt, or my eyes just loose total focus. Once a week I get a headache over my right eyebrow that intensifies throughout the day but can be taken away with 3 tylenols and sleep.
142722 tn?1281533616 I've read a couple of little excerpts from the book the Bipolar Child, I know its controversial but I just wanted to read it thinking of myself. It talks about nightmares and night terrors. I had both as a young child. Old enough to be embarassed about it when my parents wanted to pray them out of me, but still young enough to where I can't remember my exact age. I had a pretty good childhood, no real trauma that was done by anyone other than my own brain, until I was older.
1448748 tn?1312956208 I was taking lamictal for pain and fatigue problems of unknown cause for the past 4 months, I've recently been having blurred vision and headaches in the last three weeks.
524020 tn?1223161005 I was on lamictal and ativan at the same time - I was okay until my son was murderedin 1/05 - and then it seemed like nothing helped - suffered from PTSD so I was going from one med to the other - however doctor kept me on lamictal than I switched doctors and the new one put me on 400 mgs of lamictal and that's when my problems started I got bad rash and once you get a rash from lamictal you can't go back on it - however I was okay under regular dose of 200 mgs - also had problems when d
Avatar f tn I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.
1235186 tn?1656987798 I am on Lamictal and have no major side effects. The scary thing about it is you can get steven johnsons syndrom from it when you first start it. I have anxiety too and that scared the crap out of me and took me two days of trying to take it to build up the courage to do it. It is suppose to be a rare possible side effect though.
