Lamictal dosage for depression

Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal dosage for depression

lamictal

Avatar f tn I take Buspar, but it is along with Wellbutrin (I'm told can cause anxiety) and Lamictal (mood stabilizer for Bipolar). Buspar works great for me and is the kind of med that you can feel accumulate in your system. That way, you don't suffer if missing a dose. I take 10mg 3 times a day. It used to just be 2x, but my job got stressful and we made an adjustment. I was originally given Xanax which was a huge mistake on my GP's part.
Avatar f tn Thank you!!! My Dr. seems to think because I have been on them for so long that they should still be working. I will just have to explain the difference I am feeling.
574118 tn?1305135284 Keep that in mind and if you decide to get higher in dosage you should do that very slowly. Cause, Lamictal have not stop up (mania) and are best for depression. I started directly on 25mg and now I stopped at 50mg. The side-effects was taking over cause I was going up in dosage to fast. 50 mg which could be my dosage?. I don't know yet, but I will let the future tell. It was for me rocket speed out of a very deep depression. From a day to the next. Then I was told to change to lithium.
Avatar f tn Did anyone took Lamictal for anxiety and depression? Did it work, and how soon did it started working? Did anyone started feeling normal and had their old life back? Did anyone felt the itching, and how long it lasted? I am very worried, i need this med to be working for me soon because i going through very tough time in my relationship. If anyone know anything about it, pleaselet me know. It willbe veryhelpful.
Avatar f tn also im on klonopin and 1/2 of a 25 mg seroquel(as needed for sleep) I dont think i like how the seroquel makes me feel.............the dr said lamictal should help my depression...........i was on abilify and i feel i gained weight on it plus develepoed awful dizziness had to stop it after 3 months.
Avatar m tn have tried lithium but it did not work for me. am now on lamictal and up to100 with no effect yet. will keep trying though. talk to your pdoc about what meds might suit you.
980052 tn?1262967079 Lamictal caused mental dulling and word finding issues for me.
Avatar f tn It should help on the depression but as the dosage goes into that range (and I was directly informed this by my provider) there is the concern of it potentially worsening mania so speak to your psychiatrist about that potential. That doesn't mean they aren't making the right decision especially with an adjunct mood stabilizer like Topomax (even if its prescribed for another purpose it is used in this regard and works this way) it should work out okay.
Avatar m tn I was on 250 for 2 months then 375 for 2 weeks, 500 for 2 weeks, 750 for a week and finaly 1000 I am on for 4 days. I feel more stable, but feel depressed when my mood shifts. How long it takes to fully benefit from Depakote?
Avatar m tn I take 200mg of Lamictal. Like 007Bunny, I had to have my dosage increased, in order to control both depression and hypomania, after being taken off Zoloft. I did have a small rash, which I didn't mention to my doctor. I should have, due to the risk of Stevens-Johnson syndrome associated with Lamictal. It went away after a month or two, and never reappeared after that. I was up to 450 of Wellbutrin a day, but have now been lowered to 300mg. I am unsure how much my Zoloft dosage is.
Avatar f tn Lamictal has never caused full-blown mania for me, but it has made me a little hypo-manic in the past, especially the first few days after increasing the dosage. However, for me, it doesn't cause increased cycling because it takes care of the depression side of things, for the most part. In higher doses, it does agitate me, so that's also something to be aware of.. Weird feeling; you're all doped up and agitated at the same time...
Avatar n tn I was put on lamictal for mania because I cannot take any of the traditional mania meds. Lamictal worked for me but I had side effects and had to stop it. Your dr is just following new medication lists.
Avatar n tn Some mood stabilizers treat mania more easily than depression (although Lamictal generally treats depression well) but each person responds differently to each medication. If his psychiatrist doesn't have any more ideas you could seek a secnd opinion but ask them what might be the appropriate next step within their clinical discretion. Also note the use of medication and dosage are different for a younger person and you could discuss this with the psychiatrist as well.
Avatar f tn m 45 year old woman and there is lots of family history of mental illness on both sides. I was on prozac for 4-5 years for depression. my new physc put me on lamictal..once i went up to 200mg i felt very very spacey so i am back down to 150. about 5 weeks ago she took me off my prozac and on lithium. I started at 300mg then moved up to 600mg..at that dose i was getting very severe nausia. then last week on tues i started to cry and could not stop..
Avatar f tn I had been doing so well on the lamictal and cymbalta that I thought I had no need for psychiatrist for the last 10 months or so. Now, bam, I need one and who wants to start with a patient that already has SJS. When I had dbl couverage insurance I could get in anywhere. (least of problems) 4. I've seen, neurologist, internal med.
Avatar f tn s the seroquel or the combination with lamictal, or if my brain is just fried from being depressed and bipolar for the last 30 yrs and on all sorts of different meds that work for a while, then need to be changed, over and over again. Life is a b*tch sometimes. But I try to look on the bright side even when there doesn't seem to be much of a bright side! Hope you feel better soon.
1220347 tn?1345428521 Hello. :) I suffer from bipolar type 2 and I'm taking lexapro 20mg, anti depressant, and lamictal (probably spelled it wrong) 100mg, mood stabilizer. Since I have started taking them, I have definately improved, however, I'm not satisfied.
Avatar f tn I also want to add that I'm very glad that lamictal helps you. I felt lamictal helped me for years when I was really bad off. I have been off of it for two months now and have had no problems. Did you know that studies have found that bipolar disorder can actually lessen/disappear after the age of 25? I'm 29 now, and not even sure that I have it anymore. It certainly hasn't seemed like it for 3-4 years now.
284002 tn?1244547555 I am currently in therapy as I believe my depression is part biological and cognitive. I was at a dosage of 300mg for a week and felt VERY anxious now the doctor wants me to take 150 one day and 300 the next and see what happens. My therapist suggested I try to add an SSRI like Zoloft in the mix... I'll check my Dr.
407790 tn?1397761026 ve taken Cymbalta, Adderall and Wellbutrin for years (though I took Pristiq instead of Cymbalta for an ill-fated 10 months.) I started Lamictal last spring and Topamax about a month ago. I haven't been in therapy for a while, mostly because my depression is so chemical (which is what every therapist I've spoken to in the past couple of years has said to me.) When my meds work, I'm fine. When they don't, I'm a crying mess. It's like someone flipped a switch. Oy. Anyway!
Avatar f tn I saw a new therapist immediately before the start of 2017 who unofficially diagnosed me with Bipolar and decided to prescribe Lamictal, gradually increasing dosage until I could safely discontinue Abilify. Once I reached the therapeutic dose of Lamictal, I stopped Abilify and immediately experienced rapid fluctuations between depression and mania and my therapist told me to go back on Abilify at a reduced 2.5 mg.
Avatar m tn I believe the Lamictal is a maintainence drug for mood swings and it contains a antidpressant. My bipolar leans more to depression than mania and I have to be on a antidpressant. When beginning a new antidepressant I tend to get mania for a short time but seem to adjust after the first week or two. Hey, if you are feeling good...why mess with something that's not broken! Best of luck.
