Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal and wellbutrin for bipolar

lamictal

Does anyone else use this combo? Also, do you think there could be a way I taper off the Lamictal and just stay on the Wellbutrin? Any thoughts would be awesome.
he considers himself anxious, but not bipolar. he didnt want to take the lamictal because of the side effects. went to his GP and got zoloft. after 2 months he knows it isnt working. he just asked me today to read about lamictal and she what i could find out so here i am.i think he is feeling so bad he is ready to give it a try. is anyone taking it? what has been your experience? thank you so much.
Do your own research, but apparently you can take both together. I have taken Wellbutrin and my husband does for bipolar (him) and we did not gain wt. on it. It just did not work for me, so I switched to Lexapro. It helped me in less than a week. I have been on it for several years and actually lost wt. while on it. I was actively trying to lose wt. and had no problems doing it while taking the Lexapro.
the valproex was reducecd as well, but he definitely thought that Lamictal was more likely the problem. Now I'm off Lamictal and on Wellbutrin and Valproex. My memory is sharp like it used to be, and I have no cognitive dulling.
150mg Wellbutrin/150mg Lamictal daily. I was hoping the Wellbutrin would help me with my concentration, but it hasnt. my bipolar/depression symptoms are gone mostly. could i take Ritalin (along with these 2 drugs) or a natural drug to help with my concentration?
My question is do you think it is possible to start tapering off the Lamictal and just be on the wellbutrin for awhile to help for the depression?
it seemed to help me ok. not totally, but ok. i was taking 100mg Lamictal and 150mg Wellbutrin daily. my deep depression(suicidal thoughts) mostly went away, but many problems still exist. like lack of focus, direction in life, motivation pushing myself. so,my therapist suggested i go on Ritalin to help with these concentration/focus issues. i've always had big problems concentrating on anything. like reading especially. at the moment i am weening myself off Lamictal and Wellbutrin slowly.
My psych put me on Lexapro and I was tired and having he horrible teeth clenching so he lowered it and added Wellbutrin XL 150 which helps a ton with my energy and switched the Lorazepam to Clonazepam. Now because if the clenching and headaches we have stopped the Lexapro and he gave me Lamictal to take at night. I can't sleep and have been very emotional....depressed and crying a lot. It's only been a week and I'm supposed to up the Lamictal.
after 1 year i've decided to attempt to stop these drugs. it seemed to help me ok. not totally, but ok. i was taking 100mg Lamictal and 150mg Wellbutrin daily. my deep depression(suicidal thoughts) mostly went away, but many problems still exist. like lack of focus, direction in life, motivation pushing myself. so,my therapist suggested i go on Ritalin to help with these concentration/focus issues. i've always had big problems concentrating on anything. like reading especially.
Even though he has not diagnosed you bipolar you are on bipolar medications (Lamictal and Seroquel). Does he know you quit taking the Lamictal? I wonder why he has you on those if you are not diagnosed BP? Also, why Beta Blockers? Is that supposed to help your anxiety? Have you contacted someone to get a second opinion yet? There are good psychiatrist and bad ones as well. Trust me, I had a really bad one and it almost cost me my life! Keep up posted!
I was diagnosed with Bipolar II ten years ago. I have been taking 150mg wellbutrin, 1mg valium, and 15mg lamictal for it. I recognize that Bipolar I is more severe, however the usual dose for anyone with Bipolar disorder is between 25mg-200mg. Listen, doctors will truly mess up your life without intending to.
I've been taking Lamictal for about 3 months, but can't stand the side effects anymore! I feel like I traded anxiety for ADD. I can't focus, have short-term memory loss, speak slowly, and have an exceding amount of mucus in my throat. I was taking 300mg. Now I'm at 225mg. It has helped to take down the dose, but it's still very annoying! I take it with 300mg of Effexor XR which I have been taking for several years. Does anyone have a suggestion on a replacement for Lamictal?
Did anyone took Lamictal for anxiety and depression? Did it work, and how soon did it started working? Did anyone started feeling normal and had their old life back? Did anyone felt the itching, and how long it lasted? I am very worried, i need this med to be working for me soon because i going through very tough time in my relationship. If anyone know anything about it, pleaselet me know. It willbe veryhelpful.
I was diagnosed with BP II with more noticeable depression as well. I'm actually on a combo of Wellbutrin/Abilfy and it's the PERFECT combo for me. I was on lamictal and it made me crazy and had awful side effects. I've never taken Prozac or Lithium, as I've found a combo that works for me. I take 250mg Wellbutrin twice a day and 15mg of Abilify. I also take an anti-anxiety med and sleeping pills as needed.
bipolar is doing fine with lamictal. the anxiety is still here. pdoc gave me wellbutrin 150 mg for the depression that goes with the anxiety. i feel completely good now, but i'm still scared of doing anything in public, even seeing my friends. i know its just an irrational fear. he won't give benzos except for special occasions, i.e. weddings and such. will the wellbutrin help the anxiety.
I was diagnosed Bipolar II with minor depression and was put on Lamictal teetering up 25 mg every 2 weeks with 150mg Wellbutrin (Zyban) the aim was to reach 200mg and see how I feel, by the start of the seventh week, I got tiny itchy patches on my cheeks that flaired up after I took the Lamictal… so stopped lamictal, (remained on the wellbutrin) and went on an antihistamine (Atarax) for a 2 weeks 25/50mg, did some surface (72 hour skin contact) allergy tests and came negative for Lamictal so I w
Lamictal saved my life. I am Bipolar 1 and went into a very deep depression that not one psychiatrist could pull me out of. I had been on every med you can think of. I was admitted into the hospital for mixed episodes and had a young psychiatrist assigned to me while I was in the hospital. He stopped all of the meds that I was taking and put me on Lamactil-200mg- and wellbutrin 300mg. Within 3 days, I was a new person and have been on it since. For me, it is a miracle drug.
I have been on Wellbutrin for depression and Seroquel for sleep for about two weeks now. I have lost some weight from the depression and from taking Wellbutrin. The weight loss is about 20lbs. Will I regain my appetite or will I continue to have a lousy appetite? Also I have had several crying jags in the second week of this medication. Is this normal to have these? Sometimes I have about three of them a day? I told my psychiatrist and he said everyone cries is that bad?
lamictal, trileptal, and gabapentin. In the past we tried Equetro, Wellbutrin, and other amphetamines, but all have brought on depression or anger management issues. Ask your doctor if you think you are stable enough for amphetamines. The risks may outweigh the benefits for you. With a child, it's hard to say- they're not very good at maintaining emotional stability to begin with! :) Best of luck!
So, I've been through a few ADs, but most of them were the next generation (Celexa, Lexapro, Wellbutrin, etc..) and they all increased my cycling. However, I know that Prozac is one of the weakest ADs on the market and I am starting to wonder if a small dose (maybe even sub-therapeutic) may help keep my moods a little more even with respect to the depression. The depression just guts me, but I have to quit chewing, it's the only substance I have ever abused; I cannot keep it in moderation.
I am currently taking 100-200 mg Provigil, 300 mg Wellbutrin, 150 mg Seroquel and 150 mg Lamictal. Although the bulimia is under control- I am angry and moody. This is harming my relationship with my husband and family.
I just found out I'm pregnant. Probably about 4 weeks. I'm bipolar and I take lamictal, seraquil, and Wellbutrin. Its Friday night so no doctor till Monday. Is it OK to take my meds?
In addition to Wellbutrin XL, I was also taking .5mgs of ativan 2x daily prn, 150mgs Straterra, and 100mgs Lamictal before bedtime. Shortly after taking the Wellbutrin, I began to feel very irritable and angry towards others.
I'm on Lithium 900mg and 150mg of Wellbutrin and 300mg lamictal. I have been on Depakote as well but my body was absorbing it to fast and I never really styed at a level good enough. Since I've been on the lith and well/lamictal I seem to cycle more then with the depakote well lamictal. Has anybody on these meds for Bipolar been at a level an even level and stayed at it. I was on 1100mg of Lithium and the Dr had to reduce due to the fact I was so flat unemotional like a robot.
I currently am on Lamictal and Wellbutrin and have not experienced hair loss. However, a couple of years ago I was on a variety of medications including Zoloft, Xanax, Trazadone and Clonapin and noticed the hair loss. I went from having thick hair to very thin and brittle. My hair is finally starting to thicken up. Has your doctor said anything about the combination of medication that you may be taking? Best of luck to you.
I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened. It wasn't laced or else everyone would have gotten sick. My meds haven't changed so they should not have reacted differently. Everyone that smoked it said that it was awesome pot. I've always been really sensitive to it and have always gotten high really easily. Could it just be that I couldn't tolerate the potency? I've stopped smoking for the time being.
I take Lamictal, Seroquel, Zoloft and Wellbutrin. Lamictal works VERY well. I'm really pleased with the medication. Lamictal is a rashy drug - so don't be concerned if you get a rash. Chances that its the toxic rash are VERY VERY low. Only be concerned if you get a rash and a fever together. CrazyMeds website explains this all pretty well. The only side effect I get from Lamictal is the stupid "Lamictal Headache." Which can be a bother.
I am currently taking 100-200 mg Provigil, 300 mg Wellbutrin, 150 mg Seroquel and 150 mg Lamictal. Although the bulimia is under control- I am angry and moody. This is harming my relationship with my husband and family.
I was on Abilify for Bipolar disorder/depression and my dr. just changed me to wellbutrin. I havent started it yet but will tomrrw & will hope I get the weight off I gained from the lexapro I was on before.
This summer I decided that I could no longer handle the side effects from Seroquel and so I went off of it. I have been on Lamictal for over 3 years (alone for about 2 months now) and things have been going pretty well. Lots of people do really well on Lamictal. Good luck!
