knuckle pain treatment

I was rubbing/massaging my left hand last night during dinner and all of a sudden I had a sharp pain at the base of my index finger's knuckle. It's hurt ever since and there's some swelling. Of course the pain has travelled up the arm - may be due to the fact that I'm 'babying" the left hand now. But, I wear a ring on my left thumb and it was a bit of a task to remove it this morning because of some swelling. Any suggestions?

You could have fractured the knuckle. Usually simple knuckle fractures are treated by using a splint and taping the injured finger with the adjoining finger. I posted prior about pain in my knuckle starting in my left index finger knuckle. Since then, in early January of this year it transferred to the opposite knuckle. I went in to get tests done and they came back negative for RA, OA, and gout. Everything looked good on the x-rays and there was no cartilage worn down on the joints. Since I got it tested, the pain has continued to transfer to surrounding knuckles but not to the same pain level as the original left index finger knuckle.

Hi, earlier I punched a wall out of fustration and anger. I soon regreted it. The knuckle above my third finger on my right hand is now hurting. Although it doesn't hurt that much when it is left alone, it hurts quite a bit when it is touched. Not that long ago I fractured a finger playing rugby and my knuckle feels pretty similar.

You may have severely bruised the bone, or fractured it by the force that went on the hand as you landed. An xray of the hand would be able to show whether you have caused damage to the bone. In the meantime strap the middle finger to the two either side to immobilise it. You can apply a lot of natural yogurt to that part and lightly bandage it. This helps by drawing out the inflammation. Keep your weight off that hand too until it is fully healed.

when i grip anything with my right hand, like scissors or any hand tool, and squeeze, i get a sharp pain in my middle knuckle, i noticed it about a year ago, it was not bad at all at first, but over the last week its become a constant. all other knuckles on both hands are fantastic otherwise,im dont recall any injury or reason why this is happening, any ideas? thank you.

On the last board-break i think i accidentally tilted my right fist a little to the left before impact, I broke the board, but had a lot more pain then usual. i pressed my knuckle and it felt like a bruise. I thought it would go away so i went to sleep. The next day the pain was less but when i pressed on my knuckle i felt 2 bumps, normally i just feel 1 big knuckle. Also when i moved the finger of that knuckle i felt the tendon rub against something.

Now my ring finger looks like nothing is left of the knuckle, and my pinky sits ****-eyed and the knuckle is sunken in, its swollen and hurts. Its really spongy and were the knuckle should be feels like nothing is there. So what do I do?

For over 1 year now I have had excessive stomach bloating, constipation, gas, lower back pain and almost clear urine. The dr.'s don't have any answers. A CT was just done with contrast and iodine iv, no significant results. A small stone was found near my kidney, but they don't seem to think much of it. I am doubled over in pain, have not had a bowel movement without laxative in months and even with the laxative only a small amount comes out. I am 49 years old and female.

The thing of it is, I am an artist and of course my dominant hand was the one to take the hit. The pain is dull yet constant, while as the joint both above and underneath constantly pop and seem to be jammed or out of place. As I feel on the top side of the physical knuckle, there is spacing and my finger is obviously shorter. Should I consider surgery? Shots? I want to be able to draw without having such a grueling pain... Is this possible? Or should I give up all hope now.

Well, I've been under a whole lot of stress lately and a couple weeks ago I was upset, angry, frustrated, and aggravated and made a stupid decision to punch a brick wall. I punched it as hard as i possibly could and even threw in my bodyweight. I also train in the martial arts, so my hand is kind of a big issue. It's very swollen from the middle knuckle to the pinkly knuckle and I caught the wall with mainly my ring finger. The bottom part of my ring finger is also very swollen.

It has now been 2 months, i have full range of motion without any pain, however when I apply pressure to the knuckle, it hurts a good amount. Also, in the top right corner of the knuckle it almost feels like there is a hole and i can move what feels like a piece of bone around without pain really.

I broke my finger, may 30th,middle one at the knuckle, went to the E R they xrayed and set it,splint etc. then went to my family doc...told me three more weeks if not better then orthopedic phys.The thing is the swelling is taking so long to go down, it has gone down some but i am concerned...am I looking at surgery or is it to soon to tell ? And should I just go to the orthopedic phys. now or chill and wait ?

i had a total middle knuckle replacement on my right hand the knuckle that forms a fist, i had more range of motion with my old arthritis knuckle that i was born with, i will not never ever have another knuckle replacement i will keep the joints i was born with , i would rather have them because they have more range of motion and the silicone knuckle only provided 45 degrees of motion, if you go beyond that it will break, I regret having this operation, because i was better off with the knuckle

I have been having pain on the inside of the palms of my hands just around the knuckle areas... Usually it starts with me rubbing it and the more i rub it the intense it gets but at the same time offers me relief. I dont have any pain on the top of my hands over the knuckle areas at all. The pain is only localized to my knuckle area and does not spread through the fingers or upper arms. There is no reddness or swelling.

2 weeks ago I got a thorn in my knuckle. I pulled it out and a pain shot across my knuckle. It was very red, hot and swollen. The day after I went to the Dr’s who put me on anti biotics for a week, flucloxacillin. The swelling and redness reduced. Now it is slightly swollen with a lot of pain in the joint of my finger, all around it, where I touch the knuckle, or use my hand , I feel. It . How long might this pain last ?

This is due to me constantly hitting hard surfaces. i have no pain in that particular finger or knuckle or any part of the hand but i cant fully raise my right ring finger. It gets to about half way and i cannot raise it anymore unless i force it up with my other hand. Apart from that i have full use of my right hand and no pain in or around the knuckle or finger. Any ideas whats wrong??
