488675 tn?1208989954 On the last board-break i think i accidentally tilted my right fist a little to the left before impact, I broke the board, but had a lot more pain then usual. i pressed my knuckle and it felt like a bruise. I thought it would go away so i went to sleep. The next day the pain was less but when i pressed on my knuckle i felt 2 bumps, normally i just feel 1 big knuckle. Also when i moved the finger of that knuckle i felt the tendon rub against something.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with trigger finger (middle finger, right hand), but my research shows its only on the palm side of the hand. Mine is on the top of the hand on the knuckle. The tendon on the top of the knuckle rolls to the right off the knuckle when bending the finger down (like a fist). When I raise it back up, it locks but will "pop" back into place. I can see the tendon pop back up on the knuckle. The knuckle is painful to the touch.
Avatar m tn my index finger was impacted towards my pinky. After initial swelling of my whole finger and tendon pain, I remain with a swollen knuckle and below the knuckle but the top of my finger is normal. I cannot bend it as far as my other fingers and it is painful to go past 90 degrees with it. Will it heal on its own, or is there a way to prevent permanent limitations of it?
Avatar m tn This is due to me constantly hitting hard surfaces. i have no pain in that particular finger or knuckle or any part of the hand but i cant fully raise my right ring finger. It gets to about half way and i cannot raise it anymore unless i force it up with my other hand. Apart from that i have full use of my right hand and no pain in or around the knuckle or finger. Any ideas whats wrong??
Avatar m tn m 74 y/o and have had osteoarthritis in my fingers of both hands for many years. Right hand ring finger swelled up at the middle knuckle with lots of pain when cutting things with a knife, shaking hands, unscrewing lids. The pain is on the sides of the knuckle, not the top, so that would seem to rule out a tendon problem. Ibuprofen or Tylenol don't seem to be of much help. Is there any procedure to relieve the pain, I'd rather not get into narcotic type pain meds?
Avatar n tn This past week I punched my dresser and my knuckle immediately swelled up, the pain was bad at the time, but it didn't last too long. Well, yesterday I (stupidly) punched a rock wall, and it felt different, worse. It is my right index finger's knuckle (at the hand) and it is only a little swollen. However, it makes almost a grinding/squeaky sound when it bends (that you can actually hear and feel). I can move it all the way, even though it feels tender/sore.
Avatar m tn I have had pain in the main knuckle of the middle finger. I cannot pinpoint the exact cause of the injury. about six weeks ago I noticed shooting pain when i pushed the middle finger laterally while isolated from the other fingers across the sides of the knuckle. I also feel sharp pain when making a tight fist in the main knuckle or gripping my hand tightly around the grip on a weight.
1744581 tn?1311302411 I cut the knuckle of my R index finger on a deli/meat slicer 2 days ago, The ER dr said I had a layer of fat over the muscle left over the bone & that was it. I got 12 stitches. The dr didn't think I cut the tendon b/c I could move my index finger although I had a lot of pain. He diagnosed it as a AVULSION INJURY.
Avatar n tn For over 1 year now I have had excessive stomach bloating, constipation, gas, lower back pain and almost clear urine. The dr.'s don't have any answers. A CT was just done with contrast and iodine iv, no significant results. A small stone was found near my kidney, but they don't seem to think much of it. I am doubled over in pain, have not had a bowel movement without laxative in months and even with the laxative only a small amount comes out. I am 49 years old and female.
Avatar f tn A couple nights ago I punched the wall because i was mad, my middle finger is still swollen and my knuckle hurts really bad and its swollen. So I don't know if I did something to my knuckle and I really don't want to see a doctor. Any answers??
Avatar m tn It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas? Based upon the info and illustrations I have seen on the WWW it looks like its in the area of a ligament.
Avatar m tn In my other post I have given lots of details on this issue, but recently due to the pain re-arising I have researched and found the names of the areas specifically in pain. The pain is where I believe the extensor carpi radialis brevis inserts into my hand, pain is also present over the lunate bone and over the scaphoid bone. There is almost no pain with pressure applied on the hand while it's straight e.g. holding a bucket.
1740488 tn?1310928259 My pinkie is still numb and feels prickly all at the same time It will not bend up and down.(at the knuckle) It like its not there. What did I do? I need my finger. I work a armed positions and need my hands. Thank you in advance for the help....
Avatar f tn Quick summary: I am a 17 year old girl, average weight, diagnosed with depression, social anxiety & EDNOS. Seeing a therapist, no medication. Two things are currently worrying me. Firstly, I am worried that I am low on electrolytes which is apparently quite serious but am not sure if it is bad enough to actually do anything about it. Two obvious reasons for an electrolyte imbalance are that I exercise quite a lot and don't drink much water, also I abuse laxatives.
467797 tn?1216211257 Previously the shots did wonders and I was pain free, but not with my last injection. My finger is stuck in a bowed position, the tendon is standing out and feels very hard and it (finger and joint) gets very swollen. Also, pain is radiating down into my palm In the past few days, my finger is now slightly tingling but I am not sure if it's from the TF or my Raynaud's. I am seeing my primary again in a week but this tingling has me concerned. Should I push to see her sooner?
Avatar n tn Hi i have a joint injury that i have had for three years to middle knuckle joint.Should it get looked at by an orthopedic ? or leave it alone again when it happend heard a loud pop sound and almost immediatly it turned black is bluish.
Avatar m tn I'm 57 and developed arthritis in the last few months. My right pinkie finger has swollen to the point that it looks and feels like it's broken. It's the middle joint between the hand knuckle and the nail knuckle. There's now a lump or "knob" where it feels broken. I even have to be careful drying my hands because if I forget to "guard" the joint and bend or twist the finger accidentally, it's very painful.
Avatar n tn About a month ago I punched a hard surface with my right hand. The knuckle of my middle finger swelled up quite a bit and has not gone down at all since. I have full range of motion and can use it perfectly fine. The right side of the knuckle is constantly swollen, and the rest swells back up if i rub my hand against anything. Will this go away?
Avatar m tn s PA is saying in the notes I consented to a flexor tendon sheath block . She never gave me any other choices. It was the most painful thing I have ever had done. What was done was I was first frozen with some spray and then injected with something right below the finger in the middle on the palm side. Then frozen on the PIP joint knuckle side and injected right in the knuckle. That one hurt the worse and so did the freezing there which really burned because there was a cut there.
Avatar n tn I jammed my left (non-dominant) pinky finger and now the top of the finger is bent down towards my palm (from the top knuckle). A little discomfort in palm and top of hand. The bent portion above the top knuckle refuses to go back into place. Could it be broken? If jammed and I splint it, will it correct itself eventually? Don't want to spend 3 hrs in the ER and end up with a splint I can do from home. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I inserted my finger into an opening of a hot tub jet and slipped with all my weight hyperextending the pinky finger toward the outside. All the rauma is in the middle knuckle. Initially could make a fist but now the knuckle is enlarged and out of proportion. Cannot straighten finger. Splinted it originally but it did not help. Just last night I was able to start straightening and then today I was mountain biking and I fell on it and it hurts and looks swollen again.
Avatar n tn I thit it directly on the tip, kinda like it was pushing it into my hand. Since then i have had pain in my finger, mostly at the first joint from the knuckle. I cannot completely outstretch my finger because that is when the pain starts. Whats wrong and should i see a doctor?
1480794 tn?1305787639 Well, I've been under a whole lot of stress lately and a couple weeks ago I was upset, angry, frustrated, and aggravated and made a stupid decision to punch a brick wall. I punched it as hard as i possibly could and even threw in my bodyweight. I also train in the martial arts, so my hand is kind of a big issue. It's very swollen from the middle knuckle to the pinkly knuckle and I caught the wall with mainly my ring finger. The bottom part of my ring finger is also very swollen.
Avatar f tn Hey anyone, I dont know what I exactly did to my finger...but I am having pain in my right hand on the last knuckles of the ring and pinky fingers. It hurts when i do just about anything...not extremely painful though. it especially hurts when i push down from the top of the ring and pinky fingers, if i spread the two fingers apart, when i push them together, and when i grip things.
Avatar n tn 165lbs I have tendonitis in my middle knuckle/MCP from a previous injury that seems to have healed but is being very slow to reduce in tenderness/inflammation. My PCP currently has me on a short (1 week) oral steroid cycle (methylprednisolone 4mg) alongside topical anti-inflammatory gel (diclofenac) to reduce the swelling and reevaluate later but, if inflammation returns post-cycle, a cortisone injection into that tendon is apparently the next option.

Avatar n tn Also, the lower joint (near the knuckle) is still swollen and I cannot bend it or the pinky (i.e. make a complete fist) all the way. There is still a little pain when accidentally struck or when I press on the ring finger. I really want to know if I should be exercising these fingers as I have been gently trying to bend them. I know it is not broken as I had x-rays, but am wondering if I should make an appt. with an orthopedic doc.
