Knuckle pain ring finger

Common Questions and Answers about Knuckle pain ring finger

finger

A few year ago I injured my ring finger knuckle. My finger got bent sideways slightly and the main knuckle was sore and a little swollen. It healed without any problems. Over the past couple of months, the same knuckle has been very painful when tying shoes, pulling things, using hammer, making a fist or even typing. Any feedback on what might be going on would be appreciated.....
In the past two months the pain at the knuckle subsided but moved to were the finger connects to the hand and that also swells but the finger as a whole is still swollen. During the past monthe the pain and swelling has moved to the ring finger on the same hand and has lessened on the middle finger but it is still swollen. There have also been time sthat the top of my middle arm gets painful but that comes and goes. When the initial problem occured the doctors felt it was an infection.
It's two weeks later and the swelling and bruising is completely gone, but as the swelling went down I noticed a small lump of something between my little and ring finger knuckle. It's very small, probably about half a centimetre, and I know it shouldn't be there. It's hard but I can't tell exactly how hard as there is a little skin and flesh covering it so it's difficult to tell completely.
I can see the actual twitching occur between my pinky and ring finger knuckle area and thats what makes the finger actually move. It's not rhythmic and occurs here and there, sometimes during rest, sometimes when I am gripping something not too tightly, and just now I put my hands behind my head and could feel it. It almost feels "nervey" if that makes any sense. It's now been occurring for the past 2-3 days.
I punched a wall and its all swollen around the side of my hand and my pinky knuckle and ring finger knuckle and my mom said my pinky finger looks a little odd. It hurts to move my hand and finger and its sometimes gets this kind of numb tingling feeling. It throbs and aches a lot and sometimes the throbbing goes up to my arm along with a shooting pain every now and again. I can barely move my pinky finger. Thanks for answering!
So, I punched a wall and hit my ring finger knuckle on the corner of the wall and it felt like my knuckle got pushed into my hand a little. It swelled up pretty badly, and the swelling goes down to my wrist. However I can still move all of my fingers and my hand, and the pain hasn't gotten worse. This was all 2 days ago.
I got angry and hit something about 2 hours ago, and my knuckle by my ring finger has a 3/4 in. gash in it and it hurts so bad when I have to move it open and close motion hurts the worst. Also, half way up my arm it hurts, and is swollen a little above my wrist. The whole area in general is swelling now, what should I do? It is 35 miles to the nearest ER, and I have two small children sleeping now. I dont know what to do about it.
Ok, a couple days ago I got very upset and punched a dresser that is made of very heavy wood...the dresser won. My pinky, finger beside my pinky, and middle finger are all swollen, so swollen I can't wear my engagement ring. My knuckles are swollen and hurt very bad, and my metacarpal region is swollen. All of the swollen parts hurt very bad and are bruised, the bruising is black, that's never happened to me before is black bruising normal?
I have broken the pinky knuckle and the ring finger knuckle on my right hand, and unfortunately it never healed correctly. Its nearly impossible to keep these joints from movement during the healing process so the splint or wrap is only helping very little. Just give it some time. I spare and box and nearly everytime I land a good punch with my right hand it swells, its something that I realize I will have to live with.
I'm 74 y/o and have had osteoarthritis in my fingers of both hands for many years. Right hand ring finger swelled up at the middle knuckle with lots of pain when cutting things with a knife, shaking hands, unscrewing lids. The pain is on the sides of the knuckle, not the top, so that would seem to rule out a tendon problem. Ibuprofen or Tylenol don't seem to be of much help. Is there any procedure to relieve the pain, I'd rather not get into narcotic type pain meds?
Hello, I'm an 18 year old female with pretty bad joint pain (at least that's what I'm assuming it is.) When I was about 10 or 11, I discovered I was missing a knuckle on my right ring finger. My finger was then about the same size as my pinky, and seemed like it had a 'shrinking' effect, due to the fact all my other fingers were growing and my ring finger was not. I don't remember much about what the doctors said about it, as it was 8 years ago.

It started with my index finger having spasms, and then moved to in between my middle finger and pointer finger knuckle. It now is deblilitating my pinkie and ring finger and causing some minor pain in the outside part of my wrist. With my hand straight out I cannot I cannot put my pinkie or ring finger together and I cannot get my ring finger together with my middle finger. Any thoughts? I have attached a pic of how close I can get my fingers together. I am 32 and relatively healthy.
This is due to me constantly hitting hard surfaces. i have no pain in that particular finger or knuckle or any part of the hand but i cant fully raise my right ring finger. It gets to about half way and i cannot raise it anymore unless i force it up with my other hand. Apart from that i have full use of my right hand and no pain in or around the knuckle or finger. Any ideas whats wrong??
When I open my hand, I can't feel a bone in my knuckles persition, when I move my finger over my ring finger knuckle I can then feel something hard like a bone on it, my hand sinks into it, it's all soft and stuff... and I touch my ring finger knuckle I can feel something inside it moving but that doesn't hurt. Only when I move my ring finger around it does. PLEASE RESPOND, I AM WORRIED.
In picking up the broken glass I managed to sustain a very small cut vertically across my ring finger on my right hand. It's probably less than 10mm long. It bled some but stopped after a short time. I cleaned it put polysporin and a clean bandaid on it each day for 3 or 4 days. As it was no longer open I didn't bother continuing with the bandaids.
Hello! Go for a routine X-ray. If you have a fracture you can wear a splint or strap it with the other normal finger (buddy wrap) Do not move that finger or dislocate anthing further. You can apply ice and take anti inflammatory drugs till you visit an orthopedician. The swelling is due to the inflammation. Take care!
I have had it on my left pinky, my left ring finger, and last night to my right middele finger. Does anyone know what is causing this?
The next day it swelled up from the first knuckle to the top of the pinkie the second knuckle bone points towards my ring finger i can make a fist but the second knukle gives me pain and when i try to point it straight its bent downward. I dont know what to do ive been icing it but im not sure if i need to seek medical attention.
Yesterday I fell while hiking and broke my finger (right hand ring finger) Went to the ER got an x-ray that showed the break in-between the knuckle and the last joint on the finger. They gave me a referal to an ortho but he is out of town for a couple of weeks, so they said to call my Dr to get a referal for an ortho as soon as possible. The finger is severally swollen, bruising bad and I can't move it up or down.
There isn't too much bruising, except one small area is actually very dark but that's likely just from impact. But it is very swollen and my pinkly knuckle and ring-finger knuckle aren't visible. It hurts to make a fist, and the swelling is quite soft, but painful to touch obviously. Also, the tendon area underneath the swelling going down to my wrist is painful to touch so I'm worried I may have damaged a tendon. Should I wait a few days just to see how it goes?
Hi The Boxer’s fractures are treated by immobilizing the joint using a variety of splints, a cast, or taping techniques. “Buddy-taping” involves taping the little finger to the ring finger. It typically takes four to six weeks for the fracture to heal and thereafter some more time to regain motion and strength. You should contact your doctor or go to the emergency department because you have developed signs and symptoms which might indicate infection or some other complication.
make a complete fist) all the way. There is still a little pain when accidentally struck or when I press on the ring finger. I really want to know if I should be exercising these fingers as I have been gently trying to bend them. I know it is not broken as I had x-rays, but am wondering if I should make an appt. with an orthopedic doc.
Hey anyone, I dont know what I exactly did to my finger...but I am having pain in my right hand on the last knuckles of the ring and pinky fingers. It hurts when i do just about anything...not extremely painful though. it especially hurts when i push down from the top of the ring and pinky fingers, if i spread the two fingers apart, when i push them together, and when i grip things.
On my left hand, my index finger is longer than my middle finger, my ring finger is shorter than my middle finger. On my left had, my middle finger is shorter than both other fingers (ring & middle). It's nver caused any problems but I've always wondered why my Mom & I had it.
I woke up one night a couple months ago with a painful, swollen knuckle on my left ring finger. It felt fine when I went to bed that night. I don't recall injuring it, but my dog's leash did pull tight on that hand that day but it seemed fine. Two days ago, I went to the doctor because it is not getting better, and had an x-ray. The doc said it is a sprain. I could see a little line (looked like a crack to me) on that finger on two of the three x-rays and asked what that was.
Hello, on June 11th I discovered a small blister on the top of one of the fingers on my right hand, behind the knuckle. This blister looked normal like one you might get if you burned yourself. The blister got bigger, but I believe that to be because my ring was probably chaffing it. about three days later after just leaving it alone and covering it with a band aid, it ruptured while i was washing my hands and changing the band-aid.
