knuckle pain redness

2 weeks ago I got a thorn in my knuckle. I pulled it out and a pain shot across my knuckle. It was very red, hot and swollen. The day after I went to the Dr’s who put me on anti biotics for a week, flucloxacillin. The swelling and redness reduced. Now it is slightly swollen with a lot of pain in the joint of my finger, all around it, where I touch the knuckle, or use my hand , I feel. It . How long might this pain last ?

I am having pain in my Right index finger (knuckle) for almost two months now. I don't have any swelling, warmth, or redness around the site. Could it be related to the distal radius fracture surgery which I had one year back on my Left hand. Thanking you in advance for your highly valued advise.

Index finger on right hand swollen and painful to bend.. Hard to tell if pain is first or second knuckle.. Swelling is mostly at base of finger.. No warmth or redness noted.. Have "skiers" thumb for about a month now.. Just woke up and boom thumb was swollen at base.. Finger was little stuff and next morning swollen and painful.. As long as it's straight there is no pain.. Getting old is for the birds!!

In good health. Pricked by thorn in knuckle. No remnants left behind. Small hard lump formed 7 days later all swelling had subsided and otherwise all else appeared normal and functional. 16 days after ***** accidently hit the small hard lump as well as slightly overflexing joint. Now slight pain upon mornings initial flexions of the joint. As day goes on feels better as I use it. Come mornining, pain and stiffness again until its used. The area is not red, hot. Can fully flex and straighten.

I posted prior about pain in my knuckle starting in my left index finger knuckle. Since then, in early January of this year it transferred to the opposite knuckle. I went in to get tests done and they came back negative for RA, OA, and gout. Everything looked good on the x-rays and there was no cartilage worn down on the joints. Since I got it tested, the pain has continued to transfer to surrounding knuckles but not to the same pain level as the original left index finger knuckle.

I cut my left hand at the knuckle of the 2nd finger and to the right of that, received a total of 9 stitches on 12/5/08. I went to have them removes a week later, was put on Keflex for 10 days, stitches stayed in for another week. I am suppose to get them out again tomorrow. The ones on the knuckle area are still very painful, red and swollen. If the stitches are removed tomorrow, with the redness, pain and swelling, is there a chance this will force the suture line open?

I had gone to palm springs california and what not, (did not wear any sun protection lotions) and a while after I started noticing spots on my left hand mostly on the fingers and a mark on my right index finger that goes from my knuckle to the middle of my finger. If anyone could please take a look at the images linked and please tell me if this is something serious i should worry about or only skin damage caused by too much unprotected sunlight. http://i288.photobucket.

You may have severely bruised the bone, or fractured it by the force that went on the hand as you landed. An xray of the hand would be able to show whether you have caused damage to the bone. In the meantime strap the middle finger to the two either side to immobilise it. You can apply a lot of natural yogurt to that part and lightly bandage it. This helps by drawing out the inflammation. Keep your weight off that hand too until it is fully healed.

when i grip anything with my right hand, like scissors or any hand tool, and squeeze, i get a sharp pain in my middle knuckle, i noticed it about a year ago, it was not bad at all at first, but over the last week its become a constant. all other knuckles on both hands are fantastic otherwise,im dont recall any injury or reason why this is happening, any ideas? thank you.

Infection usually presents with other symptoms also such as redness, pain, pus and even fever. Oral or topical antibiotics may be indicated if this is the case depending on the initial evaluation. Anti-inflammatory medications may also help with the swelling. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.

My fingers hurt, ache most of the time but worsens when I am doing something (like this typing!) The pain begins at my knuckle joint and extends down all fingers, some wrist pain as well though that seems to come and go whereas finger pain is always there, just intensity changes with activity. I am planning on finding a hand doc this week but wanted to know if this sounded like anything any of you have experienced before. Might it be from the FM or is it most likely not related?

Also, it is slightly swollen and I feel pressure, from the swelling, in the knuckle along with the pain when I try to flex it. It is not a stinging pain but a sore pain and only on top of the knuckle. I just turned 60 and have never had anything like this before. Very strange. From what I understand about gout it, the big toe is the usual target but it can happen to any joint.

Earlier this summer I got what looked like a small pimple beside the second knuckle on the middle finger of my right hand....it went away in about a week and a half and than right after that a second one appeared between that knuckle and where the finger joins my hand. They were not painful and there was no redness, they just looked like little white bumps.

On the last board-break i think i accidentally tilted my right fist a little to the left before impact, I broke the board, but had a lot more pain then usual. i pressed my knuckle and it felt like a bruise. I thought it would go away so i went to sleep. The next day the pain was less but when i pressed on my knuckle i felt 2 bumps, normally i just feel 1 big knuckle. Also when i moved the finger of that knuckle i felt the tendon rub against something.

For over 1 year now I have had excessive stomach bloating, constipation, gas, lower back pain and almost clear urine. The dr.'s don't have any answers. A CT was just done with contrast and iodine iv, no significant results. A small stone was found near my kidney, but they don't seem to think much of it. I am doubled over in pain, have not had a bowel movement without laxative in months and even with the laxative only a small amount comes out. I am 49 years old and female.

It has now been 2 months, i have full range of motion without any pain, however when I apply pressure to the knuckle, it hurts a good amount. Also, in the top right corner of the knuckle it almost feels like there is a hole and i can move what feels like a piece of bone around without pain really.

i had a total middle knuckle replacement on my right hand the knuckle that forms a fist, i had more range of motion with my old arthritis knuckle that i was born with, i will not never ever have another knuckle replacement i will keep the joints i was born with , i would rather have them because they have more range of motion and the silicone knuckle only provided 45 degrees of motion, if you go beyond that it will break, I regret having this operation, because i was better off with the knuckle

I have been having pain on the inside of the palms of my hands just around the knuckle areas... Usually it starts with me rubbing it and the more i rub it the intense it gets but at the same time offers me relief. I dont have any pain on the top of my hands over the knuckle areas at all. The pain is only localized to my knuckle area and does not spread through the fingers or upper arms. There is no reddness or swelling.

This is due to me constantly hitting hard surfaces. i have no pain in that particular finger or knuckle or any part of the hand but i cant fully raise my right ring finger. It gets to about half way and i cannot raise it anymore unless i force it up with my other hand. Apart from that i have full use of my right hand and no pain in or around the knuckle or finger. I have read up on DVT, yet there is no severe pain, no redness, no swelling, nothing of that sort. I bought a leg wrap and wrapped my calf, left it wrapped for a good six or seven hours while I slept, and then removed it once I woke up. I dont feel any pain now, or if there is any it is very, very minimal. I have started tanning for the first time in about five years, only this time I am going to a tanning salon, got tired of being pasty.

I have had pain in the main knuckle of the middle finger. I cannot pinpoint the exact cause of the injury. about six weeks ago I noticed shooting pain when i pushed the middle finger laterally while isolated from the other fingers across the sides of the knuckle. 2 days ago I suddenly devoped pain in my left index finger at the knuckle. I can touch it and its ok, but if I move it at all in any direction, it hurts pretty bad. I was rubbing/massaging my left hand last night during dinner and all of a sudden I had a sharp pain at the base of my index finger's knuckle. It's hurt ever since and there's some swelling. Of course the pain has travelled up the arm - may be due to the fact that I'm 'babying" the left hand now. But, I wear a ring on my left thumb and it was a bit of a task to remove it this morning because of some swelling. Any suggestions?
