For the past 4 weeks, I have a real bad thumb pain, swollen, stiff, can't bend and the knuckle of my thumb and it
makes noise when I try to bend it, and it is very painful. I can't use my left thumb anymore.
I had a carpal tunnel release surgery 7 years ago on both hands, but my job requires me to do a lot of gardening
work, and most of the time I don't wear hand braces/stabilizer.
Does my thumb pain come from arthritis? my carpal tunnel syndrome comes back?
Index finger on right hand swollen and painful to bend.. Hard to tell if pain is first or second knuckle.. Swelling is mostly at base of finger.. No warmth or redness noted.. Have "skiers" thumb for about a month now.. Just woke up and boom thumb was swollen at base.. Finger was little stuff and next morning swollen and painful.. As long as it's straight there is no pain.. Getting old is for the birds!!
I was rubbing/massaging my left hand last night during dinner and all of a sudden I had a sharp pain at the base of my index finger's knuckle. It's hurt ever since and there's some swelling. Of course the pain has travelled up the arm - may be due to the fact that I'm 'babying" the left hand now. But, I wear a ring on my left thumb and it was a bit of a task to remove it this morning because of some swelling. Any suggestions?
Whenver she tries to lift or touch something using her thumb, she gets this bulge at the base of the thumb on top of her hand (thumb knuckle). Her thumb then leans all the way down at a strange angle. It painful but she is able to "click" it back herself by moving her thumb out and up. I have strapped it up to immobilise the thumb, what else can I do and why is this happening?
I would suggest you to go for an X-ray and also recall if you had an injury in the past. If you are in pain take intermittent NSAIDs and go for other blood tests if required to come to a diagnosis. For a proper diagnosis follow up with an orthopedician and start the best course of therapy.

t closed because water pours on it daily,am scared now because today a guy shoke my hand and his bigger thumb touched the injury on the knuckle then immediately I went outside to check the hand,and I saw a small red dot of blood on the injury, am scared that it is from the hand of the guy who shoke me, I tried checking the guy's hand for injury but I was unable to check it.please am very scared, am I at risk?
I've had a severe pain in my right shoulder in the middle for a long time. It comes and goes lots of people have told me it's probably w pinched nerve but I've never had it checked out. It's been going on off and on for about 7 years. Also just recently my left arm and hand have had a burning numb feeling just from my elbow down to my second knuckle on my fingers/thumb. What could this be?
I've had this bump on my thumb for over 10 years. I haven't really cared about it until recently since people seem to notice it more. It doesnt itch or cause any pain. I have a bad (nervous?) habit of picking at it though. Can anyone tell me what this might be and if any OTC meds would help?

It went away on its own after about 2 months, but I still feel remnant pain in my knee and elbow occasionally.
Now I don't know if this is related but I am having more joint issues. I woke up with two reddened circular spots as of this morning. One is on the right side of my thumb joint and the other is on the right side of my pointer finger knuckle. There is numbness on that thumb near my fingernail. It has been there since I woke up.
I had wart removed from the knuckle on my thumb 4 weeks ago. I had it cut out as opposed to cyrotherapy because the cryo was not working. Has anyone had a wart cut out of there finger? If so what kind of scarring did you sustain. I am concerned that my thumb will no longer look the same as it once did.
Okay so last night I punched the wall and immediately felt horrible pains shooting through my left middle finger joint knuckle closest to my wrist and the same on the finger to its right. My hand is swollen and bruised. It hurts to move it. It hurts the most when ball a fist and write. When you touch the bone on my middle finger knuckle thing it feels as if it's crumbling and it feels very spongey.

I had a car accident around last year near November and I hit my finger against the steering wheel. The knuckle near to my thumb gets swollen and it feels very hot and painful. Fast forward months later, I am able to use my finger better, but if i twist it in a certain angle I feel a very sharp and intense pain. I have not consult any medical help or seen any doctor yet. May I know what are the possibilities to explain why my finger is still hurting after so many months?
I have a lump on my thumb at the first knuckle that appeared within a few hours from when I noticed it about the size of a tip of a pencil. two days later a second one appeared right in front of it but slightly smaller. I went to a hand specialist and was told that I have arthritis in that joint and those are bone spurs. He didn't even flinch when I told him it popped up within a day and told me that removing them would make my arthritis worse.
He prescribed anti-inflammatories which I took correctly for two weeks. They did not help, the problem in fact continued to get worse. The pain was now so sever that if the thumb was bumped or needed to support something it was excruciating. It's affecting my job as a cashier and i can't do so much as hold a plate or poor some water with my left hand.
I was sent for an ultrasound to look for problems with the tendon - it was normal.
I was on vacation when my finger blew up (thumb)and had to go to a doctor in the city we were in. They tapped my fingernail to let the puss out and I took antibiotics. But if this happens (and it is rare), you know. You'll have swelling and pain that is very different than a wound healing. My whole finger was swollen. Overall, that is rare and based on where it was verses every day cuts and scrapes to the surface of a finger. Those manicure infections hurt, don't they?!
I am 13 and I have the same with my thumb not bending and unusually thin and it is a bit weaker but just in my right thumb. I had x-rays when I was younger and I don't remember anything about the problem except that I was just born missing a few bones. I have no problems except some people have asked me what is wrong with it and I just said nothing. It is weaker than a normal thumb and I can't do things like hold a bowling ball so I have to do it with two hands.
Along the left side of my forefinger and its knuckle, along the right side of my thumb and back toward its knuckle, and in the fleshy part of my hand between the thumb and forefinger. Sometimes these pains occur "out of the blue" when I am do nothing with my hand (just relaxing and watching TV). But I also noticed soreness while washing dishes. I called the doctors office again. The next day the doctor returned my call. I explained the problem.
