You may have severely bruised the bone, or fractured it by the force that went on the hand as you landed. An xray of the hand would be able to show whether you have caused damage to the bone. In the meantime strap the middle finger to the two either side to immobilise it. You can apply a lot of natural yogurt to that part and lightly bandage it. This helps by drawing out the inflammation. Keep your weight off that hand too until it is fully healed.

I have been having pain on the inside of the palms of my hands just around the knuckle areas... Usually it starts with me rubbing it and the more i rub it the intense it gets but at the same time offers me relief. I dont have any pain on the top of my hands over the knuckle areas at all. The pain is only localized to my knuckle area and does not spread through the fingers or upper arms. There is no reddness or swelling.

when i grip anything with my right hand, like scissors or any hand tool, and squeeze, i get a sharp pain in my middle knuckle, i noticed it about a year ago, it was not bad at all at first, but over the last week its become a constant. all other knuckles on both hands are fantastic otherwise,im dont recall any injury or reason why this is happening, any ideas? thank you.

I work with my hands a lot and more times than not my hands are very sore. The worst part is the joint or knuckle below my thumb. The only way to get temporary relief is to have my fiance crack it. I have tried not doing that in case that was the problem, but the pain builds until it's almost impossible to do things normally. Any ideas anyone. Thank you in advance.

Right hand ring finger swelled up at the middle knuckle with lots of pain when cutting things with a knife, shaking hands, unscrewing lids. The pain is on the sides of the knuckle, not the top, so that would seem to rule out a tendon problem. Ibuprofen or Tylenol don't seem to be of much help. Is there any procedure to relieve the pain, I'd rather not get into narcotic type pain meds?

Oh my gosh when i try to make a fist you cant see my middle knuckle or ring finger knuckle or pinky knuckle! And my fingers will be pretty soar. **** hurts!

I have had pain in the main knuckle of the middle finger. I cannot pinpoint the exact cause of the injury. about six weeks ago I noticed shooting pain when i pushed the middle finger laterally while isolated from the other fingers across the sides of the knuckle. I also feel sharp pain when making a tight fist in the main knuckle or gripping my hand tightly around the grip on a weight.

I'm not entirely sure how I did it, but I am concerned my pinky knuckle is broken. It could have been from work the other day, where i crushed my hand between two roll cages, or a gym injury in one of my subsequent workouts. s no serious swelling or discoloration now but extending my little finger cause pain around my knuckle as well as moving it side to side too much. I've made sure to feel up the bone and it's only the knuckle that's sensitive as well as compare my hands and knuckles, not shortness or dents, I can make a fist and grip things pretty well but I'm still afraid of something more serious. Is it bruised or broken?

I posted prior about pain in my knuckle starting in my left index finger knuckle. Since then, in early January of this year it transferred to the opposite knuckle. I went in to get tests done and they came back negative for RA, OA, and gout. Everything looked good on the x-rays and there was no cartilage worn down on the joints. Since I got it tested, the pain has continued to transfer to surrounding knuckles but not to the same pain level as the original left index finger knuckle.

5 Days ago, iwas silly and punched a solid surface. I have pushed my knuckle or the top of it back about 4 to 5 cms. Know it is sitting above the other bones in my hand. I have been taking anti-inflemtrys(?) and kept it strapped. Will this cause me any problems wqith the knuckle sitting where it is. Would the doctors be able to do anything since it has been a week.

while working in the basement at work, I reached into a box and hit my hand pretty hard right on the knuckle of my right hand, middle finder. This happened in November. I figured the bruise and soreness would heal. It is Decmeber 23, and it occasionary will re-bruise and become painful again. I'm 35 weeks pregnant andy hands are swollen to where I can not get my wedding ring off. I'm worried I'm going to swell up more. I don't want to get my ring cut off I can still turn it around my finger but I can't get it past my knuckle. I've tried the dental floss trick, I've tried conditoner, soap, lotion. Some woman say windex works perfect, its the only thing I haven't tried. Has anyone else had this problem or have anymore ideas how to remove a ring !?

I'm 32 weeks, I know this problem will get worse until after birth but.. I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to get relief from hand swelling and soreness in the knuckle joints. I'm constantly wringing my hands. If you've experienced it I don't need to complain about how much it *****. I'm sort of assuming this is like most other pregnancy symptoms that you "can't do anything about" and "it will resolve after birth".

Okay so last night I punched the wall and immediately felt horrible pains shooting through my left middle finger joint knuckle closest to my wrist and the same on the finger to its right. My hand is swollen and bruised. It hurts to move it. It hurts the most when ball a fist and write. When you touch the bone on my middle finger knuckle thing it feels as if it's crumbling and it feels very spongey.

two weeks ago my middle finger on my left hand started to peel at the tip and just on top of the finger knuckle. a day or two later another peeling spot appeared on the side of my left index finger. I haven't noticed any other peeling areas on my hands other than these two spots although I am now fixating on them to te extent that I am starting to see things lol No itching associated with them at all.

Now my ring finger looks like nothing is left of the knuckle, and my pinky sits ****-eyed and the knuckle is sunken in, its swollen and hurts. Its really spongy and were the knuckle should be feels like nothing is there. So what do I do?

In my other post I have given lots of details on this issue, but recently due to the pain re-arising I have researched and found the names of the areas specifically in pain. The pain is where I believe the extensor carpi radialis brevis inserts into my hand, pain is also present over the lunate bone and over the scaphoid bone. There is almost no pain with pressure applied on the hand while it's straight e.g. holding a bucket.

I'm 57 and developed arthritis in the last few months. My right pinkie finger has swollen to the point that it looks and feels like it's broken. It's the middle joint between the hand knuckle and the nail knuckle. There's now a lump or "knob" where it feels broken. I have exactly this problem. A very fit and healthy 51 year old right hand that only a week ago had a comment about my firm handshake. So I shook hands with an old friend of mine last night and his knuckle was cut open and he didn't know it. I looked at my hand a few seconds after shaking his hand and noticed there was a small red spot that was blood from his knuckle. He just said sorry and told me to wipe it off on him but i didn't. Approximately two to three minutes after the fight, I sanitized my hands and my knuckle with rubbing alcohol. I noticed my middle finger knuckle had a cut but skin was still intact. I peeled off this loose skin and then sanitized the open cut on my knuckle with more rubbing alcohol, but I only felt a slight sting after applied rubbing alcohol to the opening. Later I washed the cut with water and then it start to bleed more and to hurt more.
