Does my thumb pain come from arthritis? my carpal tunnel syndrome comes back? or diabetes causes it ? I am also diabetic type 2 for the last 15 years.
What can I do the relieve the pain? Do I need to go to Orthopedic Doctor to check it out ??? do I need surgery for this to get my left thumb back to normal? It has been almost a month and my thumb pain does not go away.

This may help with the tension and the carpal tunnel as well. I have had carpal tunnel and also tendonitis and know how that is. And the best is rest and ice and also if you have split sink put ice water in one side and warm water in the other and soak your wrists for 30 seconds in the cold side then 30 seconds in the warm side and repeat about 5 times always ending in the cold side. You have to get the inflammation down.
Your clinical presentation sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. This manifests as pain and paresthesias in the distribution of the median nerve, which includes the thumb, index, and middle fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms usually occur while holding an object or gripping a steering wheel for extended periods of time. They also tend to occur at night and may wake you during the night, or you may notice the numbness when you wake up in the morning.
Anyway I am 24 and used to be very active in lifting weights. Now I have carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel. Starting to notice it in my shoulder as well. It all started with a pain in my wrist which I thought was from doing too many bicep curls. It has been getting much worse. By my pointer finger knuckle on both hands it is swollen. In most parts of my body I have tender joints. My ribs evn grind and Crack sometimes. Weird feeling!
You could have simple arthritis in them, or rheumatoid arthritis in them, or even carpal tunnel syndrome. A visit to your primary care physician can diagnose which problem, if any, you have, and could relate treatment to you at that time. Typically, some type of anti-inflammatory medication is given, like Advil/Ibuprofen/Alleve for the over the counter types, which is most always tried first...if no relief with those, then something stronger with nonnarcotic prescriptions. I tried carpal tunnel testing. Pressing the wrists together with the hand down has no effect except to make my ring finger feel tight (it does anyway). Pressing them together from the front, as if praying, causes my central joints to lift in an A-shape as the hand is lowered, causing an uncomfortable pulling effect and wrist pain. The hand is tight and shaky, not electrical.
The burning seems to be closer to the middle joint and more tender if I put any pressure on the joint. I had surgery many years ago for carpal tunnel but this doesnt feel anything like that. It is in only one finger and always on the side. I have tried using an anti imflamatory cream with no relief.
I am not sure whether seeing my primary care physician is the appropriate step to take or not.
I have had carpal tunnel in my right hand for years, never in my left until about 2 months ago. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and the pain is almost unbearable. It affects my sleep to the point where I want to cry. I wear braces on both wrists but it doesn't seem to help much. Does anyone have any advice on what works to diminish the pain? I'm desperate!

From the symptoms it does not sound like Carpal tunnel syndrome to me. It can be herpetic whitlow which presents as painful bumps on the fingers, cellulitis skin or Osler’s nodes. Herpetic whitlow is a painful viral infection occurring on the fingers or around the fingernails. Herpetic whitlow is caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus (HSV). Osler’s nodes are painful, red, raised lesions on the palms and soles.
I'm 38 weeks and this last week started getting carpal tunnel. It's become almost unbearable and can't even move my fingers at night they hurt so bad. They hurt during the day also just not as bad. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to take care of my baby when he comes.
Do you use your hands/wrists a lot for work/computer/video games? The tingling sensation makes me think of an RMI-repetetive motion injury, like carpal tunnel. If you do a lot of work with your hands, you should have them checked. If it is something like carpal tunnel, it's better to catch it early. I have carpal tunnel in both hands.
I'm 38 weeks and 3days from the last few days I have really bad pain in my right hand wrist nerve which leads to middle finger and thumb I can't even hold a glass of water or twist my right hand and it gets worse at night. I have mentioned this to my midwife but she didn't say anything and write down in my notes which says Carpal tunnel I search about this online but couldn't find anything.
I have 3 weeks left and i have been experiencing carpal tunnel. Doc said its normal due to more fluid and pressure on my nerves from the baby. Ihave been taking tylenol and using ben gay. My dad got me a copper bracelet which is used to reduce inflamation..works well! Anyone else going tbrough this and if so any tips to get rid of the pain ??
