I have had pain in the main knuckle of the middle finger. I cannot pinpoint the exact cause of the injury. about six weeks ago I noticed shooting pain when i pushed the middle finger laterally while isolated from the other fingers across the sides of the knuckle. I also feel sharp pain when making a tight fist in the main knuckle or gripping my hand tightly around the grip on a weight.
i had a total middle knuckle replacement on my right hand the knuckle that forms a fist, i had more range of motion with my old arthritis knuckle that i was born with, i will not never ever have another knuckle replacement i will keep the joints i was born with , i would rather have them because they have more range of motion and the silicone knuckle only provided 45 degrees of motion, if you go beyond that it will break, I regret having this operation, because i was better off with the knuckle
My middle finger on my right hand started hurting badly and swelled slightly a couple of days ago, from the second knuckle to end. The pain is not unlike a broken bone, which I've had a couple of, but I didn't injure the finger. There is a history of arthritis in my family, both rheumatoid and osteo. The finger has also had a slight knot on the pointer finger side of the last knuckle. I have had pain something like this before, but not as bad. The finger is almost unusable.
m a 28 year old female and I have been having swelling, stiffness and pain of my right index finger knuckle for over 2 years. It started off as a little right itchy bump on my knuckle (it kind of looked like a welt) and it felt like it was on fire. I noticed it would flare up when it would rain and there was high humidity. From there it has progressed to swelling and it is usually stiff. It has been swollen for so long now that it has started to deform my joint.
I am having terrible pain in middle knuckle on both hands. First noticed the pain a number of years ago after driving metal fence posts in the ground with a large hammer. Pain now id severe. Finger will functin if knuckle is flat. To touch them, bump them or bend the intendified the now constant pain. Does anyone have a suggestion?

It started in the base knuckle near my palm. 2 weeks ago the pain gradually started to move up my finger. It starts to hurt during everyday activities like brushing my hair, taking off caps to bottles/jars, and mostly anything that requires force used by the fingers. The pain also occurs randomly, mostly in the evening and at night.
I'm 57 and developed arthritis in the last few months. My right pinkie finger has swollen to the point that it looks and feels like it's broken. It's the middle joint between the hand knuckle and the nail knuckle. There's now a lump or "knob" where it feels broken. I even have to be careful drying my hands because if I forget to "guard" the joint and bend or twist the finger accidentally, it's very painful.

Three weeks ago I noticed my left pinky was extremely sensitive and what felt like extreme nerve pain when bumping inside the knuckle area. I also noticed that from the knuckle up it sometimes felt asleep when I touched it and also felt like it was burning occasionally (not to the touch but internally) to where I had to put it in ice.

Starting to notice it in my shoulder as well. It all started with a pain in my wrist which I thought was from doing too many bicep curls. It has been getting much worse. By my pointer finger knuckle on both hands it is swollen. In most parts of my body I have tender joints. My ribs evn grind and Crack sometimes. Weird feeling!

An X-ray is required to decide the course of treatment. If there is no fracture then anti-inflammatory pain killers help bring down pain and swelling. Usually simple knuckle fractures are treated by using a splint and taping the injured finger with the adjoining finger. Does it hurt more with certain positions of the hands or all the time? You could have simple arthritis in them, or rheumatoid arthritis in them, or even carpal tunnel syndrome. A visit to your primary care physician can diagnose which problem, if any, you have, and could relate treatment to you at that time. Typically, some type of anti-inflammatory medication is given, like Advil/Ibuprofen/Alleve for the over the counter types, which is most always tried first...
it is my right middle finger and it hurts around the knuckle. it hurts alittle to the right and to the left of the knuckle when i push down on it also. but there is absolutely no swelling at all. and also no difference in color or size hen my other middle finger. i was wondering whats wrong with it, and if i should do anything about it.
You sound like you have the same problem I have. Mind is definitely arthritis it's the knuckle of my index knuckle at Palm. I am 62 yrs old played sports most my life. I also worked a job using hands. .. I have flare ups about every 7 or 8 mos.. I get an injection into the joint works really well. But when it flares up I can relate with you. The injection help a lot. I would go see a hand specialist.
My question is that lately my fingers, expecially around the knuckle area, have been swelling and stiff. Very hard to type..there are days where I am programming for 12-15hrs a day. Is there an easy cure? Advil?
I posted prior about pain in my knuckle starting in my left index finger knuckle. Since then, in early January of this year it transferred to the opposite knuckle. I went in to get tests done and they came back negative for RA, OA, and gout. Everything looked good on the x-rays and there was no cartilage worn down on the joints. Since I got it tested, the pain has continued to transfer to surrounding knuckles but not to the same pain level as the original left index finger knuckle.
