I ate borscht which is a cold beet soup and immediately had allergy symptoms in my uvula and my knuckle hurt for the first time in my life. I had been told to try to eliminate capsaicin and black pepper and red pepper and cayenne and paprika from my diet and possibly eggplant so having a reaction to beet soup surprised me.
2 weeks ago I got a thorn in my knuckle. I pulled it out and a pain shot across my knuckle. It was very red, hot and swollen. The day after I went to the Dr’s who put me on anti biotics for a week, flucloxacillin. The swelling and redness reduced. Now it is slightly swollen with a lot of pain in the joint of my finger, all around it, where I touch the knuckle, or use my hand , I feel. It . How long might this pain last ?
I am having pain in my Right index finger (knuckle) for almost two months now. I don't have any swelling, warmth, or redness around the site.
Could it be related to the distal radius fracture surgery which I had one year back on my Left hand.

Index finger on right hand swollen and painful to bend.. Hard to tell if pain is first or second knuckle.. Swelling is mostly at base of finger.. No warmth or redness noted.. Have "skiers" thumb for about a month now.. Just woke up and boom thumb was swollen at base.. Finger was little stuff and next morning swollen and painful.. As long as it's straight there is no pain.. Getting old is for the birds!!
Come mornining, pain and stiffness again until its used. The area is not red, hot. Can fully flex and straighten. Would say very slightly swollen compared to other hand. I'm thinking hot/cold compresses? Is it possible for an infection to be in the joint when there is no redness or warmness visible? Now at day 27 after *****. Possible diagnosis?
I posted prior about pain in my knuckle starting in my left index finger knuckle. Since then, in early January of this year it transferred to the opposite knuckle. I went in to get tests done and they came back negative for RA, OA, and gout. Everything looked good on the x-rays and there was no cartilage worn down on the joints. Since I got it tested, the pain has continued to transfer to surrounding knuckles but not to the same pain level as the original left index finger knuckle.
I cut my left hand at the knuckle of the 2nd finger and to the right of that, received a total of 9 stitches on 12/5/08. I went to have them removes a week later, was put on Keflex for 10 days, stitches stayed in for another week. I am suppose to get them out again tomorrow. The ones on the knuckle area are still very painful, red and swollen. If the stitches are removed tomorrow, with the redness, pain and swelling, is there a chance this will force the suture line open?
You may have severely bruised the bone, or fractured it by the force that went on the hand as you landed.
An xray of the hand would be able to show whether you have caused damage to the bone.
In the meantime strap the middle finger to the two either side to immobilise it. You can apply a lot of natural yogurt to that part and lightly bandage it. This helps by drawing out the inflammation.
Keep your weight off that hand too until it is fully healed.
Infection usually presents with other symptoms also such as redness, pain, pus and even fever. Oral or topical antibiotics may be indicated if this is the case depending on the initial evaluation. Anti-inflammatory medications may also help with the swelling. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Also, it is slightly swollen and I feel pressure, from the swelling, in the knuckle along with the pain when I try to flex it. It is not a stinging pain but a sore pain and only on top of the knuckle. I just turned 60 and have never had anything like this before. Very strange. From what I understand about gout it, the big toe is the usual target but it can happen to any joint.
it went away in about a week and a half and than right after that a second one appeared between that knuckle and where the finger joins my hand. They were not painful and there was no redness, they just looked like little white bumps. I was diagnosed with herpetic whitlow about 5 years ago and I freaked out cause I thought this was somehow related to to the pimple that have appeared, but the syptoms were totally different.
For over 1 year now I have had excessive stomach bloating, constipation, gas, lower back pain and almost clear urine. The dr.'s don't have any answers. A CT was just done with contrast and iodine iv, no significant results. A small stone was found near my kidney, but they don't seem to think much of it. I am doubled over in pain, have not had a bowel movement without laxative in months and even with the laxative only a small amount comes out. I am 49 years old and female.
The next day my middle finger knuckle and the parts closest to it were very swollen; My knuckle was double in size and didnt have the shape of a knuckle anymore. My hand hurt a good amount when opened/closed it. I decided to just leave it alone. The swelling went down gradually over 3 weeks or so. After the swelling went down all the way, my knuckle still hurt when i put pressure on it, but i thought it was just still healing.
The pain is only localized to my knuckle area and does not spread through the fingers or upper arms. There is no reddness or swelling. I am still able to use my hands when in this condition without discomfort except for if i have to make a fist or something...The same thing sometimes happens with my feet under and around the ball of my feet and toes. Usually it starts with a weird sensation and then i rub it and the same thing occurs. Now the only thing i do consistantly is crack my knuckles.
possibly a fracture...one that involved the interphalangeal joint (knuckle). I would recommend xrays to aid in diagnosis. If it is non-displaced, rest, anti-inflammatories, splinting would help. Intra-articular fractures ( in the joint fractures) that are displaced, if left untreated, can lead to early arthritic changes. Strongly recommend orthopaedic evaluation....!
I have read up on DVT, yet there is no severe pain, no redness, no swelling, nothing of that sort. I bought a leg wrap and wrapped my calf, left it wrapped for a good six or seven hours while I slept, and then removed it once I woke up. I dont feel any pain now, or if there is any it is very, very minimal.
I have started tanning for the first time in about five years, only this time I am going to a tanning salon, got tired of being pasty.
An year ago, i tried pressing on both the eyes with fingers for the first time to see what happens but that time pain lasted only for few days and was mild. First time ever, pain was so evident for a complete month . The pain was as if something is tearing within the eye and was also felt just below eye near the cheek when touched.
3. The eye which was in pain is reporting pressure on higher side. In morning on air puff test ,left eye had 28 and right eye had 16.
I have had pain in the main knuckle of the middle finger. I cannot pinpoint the exact cause of the injury. about six weeks ago I noticed shooting pain when i pushed the middle finger laterally while isolated from the other fingers across the sides of the knuckle. I also feel sharp pain when making a tight fist in the main knuckle or gripping my hand tightly around the grip on a weight.
