Avatar f tn Hi nanny, I'm not a Dr. but I was just standing at the ironing board and when I tried to walk, my right knee could not take any weight. The meniscus in my right knee had been torn and I didn't know it and the locked-kneed way I was standing made the torn part flip out (which was extremely painful). This was a very simplified explanation. But it can be fine one minute and NOT the next. It needed arthroscopic surgery in a surgery center with 2 little incisions and 2-4 weeks of rest.
Avatar f tn I have had three knee replacement surgeries in the last five years on the same knee with the last one being 12/13. Last knee implant was infected before removal - pain off the charts. Withdrew ct after therapy was completed. Enter 10/2014 the same knee is in pain again. Took hydrocodone off and on but never enough to have withdrawals. Took some oxycodone from a friend for about six weeks - ended that on 4/22/2015. Bone scan completed by orthopedic surgeon.

1710955 tn?1309446473 every surgery, no matter how small it may seem, is still trauma to the body. Be patient while it heals. (oh, that's a message to myself who is getting impatient 3 weeks after my foot surgery! LOL) Seriously, I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn Often a torn ACL is a degenerating piece of tissue, the breakdown products of which cause inflammation and scarring within and of the joint capsule of the knee. This causes pain and loss of range of motion. Surgery always involves debriding (removing) this unhealthy and useless tissue. Sometimes also, due to the abnormal motion at the knee after the ACL tears, the meniscus (cartilage cushion) in the knee is also damaged. This may also need partial debridement at surgery.
Avatar f tn I have had four surgeries, 2 on my left and 2 on my right. I had surgery on my right knee in november and still having alot of problems, im having swelling on the left side of my right knee and it cracks more then it did before i had surgery, it hurts to stand for more then 10 minutes and my knees get weak really fast, and because of all of this i have developed bursitis in my hip and back problems.
Avatar n tn I had knee surgery five weeks ago to repair a tibial plateau fracture, and I am having nearly identical symptoms. I started doing PT one week after surgery, and I have excellent range of motion, but I am still under a no weight bearing order. I have strived to stay active, but I have no energy and even small tasks are incredibly taxing. I am a very fit, active 23 year old female, and this is becoming worrisome.
267288 tn?1256278177 We have a member here who understand more on this than most. Her name is Marpo1 and rarely appears on the board. Send a message to her - or Smilerdeb. Smilerdeb will contact her if you don't here anything and Marpo1 is wonderful, she will come on with some thoughts. Good Luck on this - It must be very scarey.

Avatar m tn 5 days later it seems the knee is a little better but I still cant bend my knee straight all the way but I can bend it back all the way. I can walk almost perfectly except I cant extend my leg all the way,but I am walking almost normally. It doesn't hurt at all and I can even stand on one leg with the messed up knee. The thing is though, it has been 5 days and it still isn't completely straight and the doctor said 10 days.
Avatar n tn My 4 year old lab had anterior cruciate surgery on her right knee in Dec. 2007 and on her left knee in Feb. 2008. Her vet said she is recovering well but she still has a hard time getting into a sit position. Is this normal for this time frame. what are the best exercises for her. I take her walking and swimming but the next day she can hardly walk. I also give her glucosomine.
645800 tn?1466860955 Today I had my latest Neurology Appt and also Pre-op for my knee. It was a very long day and I'm pretty tired but hopefully this post will make sense. The Neuro was surprised that the LP he had schedule for me had not been done yet. And after I informed him about the other people in my family that also had MS he said that if the LP showed nothing he was going to schedule me for a VEP and is also going to schedule new Nerve conduction test as I told him it seemed like it was getting worse.
Avatar m tn Every knee and every individual differs and if you had a complication-free total knee replacement surgery and no post operative complications such as infections then you can improve your range of movement further by physiotherapy. I would suggest you to take NSAIDs and also to take a break for a day every 7-10 days and apply ice packs regularly and continue physiotherapy.
Avatar m tn as I already suggested, follow up on this with your provider. there are limits to what an online message board can do for you.
Avatar m tn Otie, our 9 yr. old bishon needs to have surgery for a knee replacement on his left back leg. My husband was recently laid off from his job and I have not been employed since I was disabled from a auto accident back in 1993. We recently reclocated to St. Petersburg from Asheville, NC after my husband lost his job so that we could be close to our daughter and gr'sons. Otie was diagnosed with a weak knee joint that will eventually become weaker and slip completely our of joint.

There are many women (and spouses) that post there all of the time. The board is very active and and the members are very friendly. If you have questions the staff is always on the message board to help answer anything that the members cannot. I wish you the very best of luck in your journey.
Avatar f tn I just joined this forum today. I had my surgery 3/30/09 and the results from the pathology were that it was Stage 1. The surgeon didn't go into detail on the phone, so I don't know if it is 1B or 1C. But from researching on the internet, it seems it would be 1B since he said there was no spread - that it was contained. My earlier post was really just about being nervous about the chemo because he said I will need to have this.
Avatar f tn I did air conditioning and had knee issues over the years. One I have surgery on and no more problems the other I fixed through exercise. Riding and walking consistently have kept the other from surgery for 15 yeara and I am allergic to NSAIDs. Sometimes they can give you cortezone. The one knee does worse the less exercise I get. Every knee is different and that is why I would start with a GP an possibly PT first.
Avatar n tn my doctor told me that my cartilage under my knee is damaged serverly. I was in a car accident where my knee hit the dash board. (60MPH impact). Is there any surgery for this repair? He suggested physical therapy. Ive read that physical therapy in alot of cases doesnt work. I live in NY Long Island. Does anyone know any specialist.
565899 tn?1216591914 They put three little portal holes around the front of the knee. They do the surgery with the scope. At most, you will be on a pair of crutches for a few days to a week. You are under general anesthesia for about an hour. Here is a site on fibromyalgia: http://www.fmnetnews.com/basics-criteria.php Why worry about arthritis already, you are only 18. Did they say you have arthritis?
Avatar f tn I think he needs a vacation from my medical problems. Sadly, Tomorrow I am headed in for knee surgery.. four bone tumors hiding behind my knee cap and causing lots of pain and damage. Does anyone know, should scar tissue take a long time? I am guessing that I need to go and find someone to talk to and get another MRI but since my surgery my doctor moved across country so I get to start my search all over again.
