Avatar m tn Patella Femoral Syndrome is a very complex injury with many different causes. Treatment involves rest, ice, anti-inflammatory medications, and taping. Taping can give immediate pain relief and also helps in correcting abnormal positioning of the patella. You can continue this until proper stretching is achieved and till patella balances. Soft tissue therapy and stretching help loosen tight structures. The exact stretch depends upon which muscles are tight.
Avatar f tn anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy 2x week for 5 months, exercises at home (or bike or swim) and cortisone injection. PT was extensive but worsened the pain: I did taping, dry needling, and ultrasound with hot and cold but all those PT things really hurt and worsened the pain. I don’t do any heavy exercises like squats but pain occurs from walking, resting, stairs, driving. I am seeing a second opinion tomorrow who does specialize in lateral release.
Avatar m tn Another possibility is Chondromalacia patella in which the knee cap keeps rubbing against the underlying cartilage of femur (corrected by braces, taping, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, physiotherapy or surgery). This is a likely causein your case, though a meniscal injury is also a possibility given the past history of meniscoplasty. Having said this, at times the noise has no pathology behind it. This needs an evaluation by either an orthopedics specialist or by a sports injury specialist.
1308443 tn?1302693321 I'm 16 and for 3 years now I have had knee problems. I have had x-rays, 2 MRI's and 2 sets of blood tests. I have seen my doctor, 2 orthopedic specialists, and a rheumatologist. I went to physical therapy for a few months 2 years ago. They said I had flat feet and gave me orthotics. The second orthopedic specialist said I had adolescent anterior knee pain and there was nothing he could do for me. A few weeks ago I went to the rheumatologist and he diagnosed me with bursitis.
Avatar m tn Hence first physical therapy is started. Other treatments include knee caps and braces, taping the patella to reduce friction, anti inflammatory drugs, custom designed foot wear to correct arch problems if any and rest to the knee joint. Please discuss these treatment options with your specialist. You probably need an initial period of rest for the knee (maybe strapping it in braces) followed by physical therapy. Take care!
Avatar f tn This really limits my exercises, as many require weight-bearing on bent knees. Is this a normal knee thing, and can I stop babying my knee and start doing things in a normal fashion, or is this, as I fear, bad and only going to get worse?
Avatar m tn My previous experience with cortisone shots is that they hurt a lot without results. He resorted to taping my knee to see if that helps.

You need to avoid postures where knee is kept bent for long. Please consult a sports injury specialist or an orthopedic specialist for this. Take care!
16237877 tn?1446544835 I love doing squats but, for about a year and half, i have not been able to perform this exercise because my left knee hurts. Each time I try to squat, there's a clicking sound in my left knee and, it hurts bad. As a result, even when I try, my right leg carries all the weight and, i don't feel the impact of the exercise on my quads. What can i do to remedy this situation or, how can i train my quads without squats?
Avatar n tn It did not, and I began to experience pain within the knee joint after a a few months due to bone-on-bone contact. I had a total knee replacement and recovered well from the surgery (March 2009). However, the ITB problem persists and flares up with rather short walks or bike rides. My orthopedic surgeon says that any surgical approach (such as Z-plasty) is contra-indicated after a TKR. Is that the general opinion?
Avatar m tn But recently I am facing that my knee joint is paining and feeling some noise form last year when I walk or stand for some while. But I do not lift heavy weight things or carry. I have visited number of doctors but all of them suggested calcium 500 mg once or twice daily for 2 to 3 months, but Still I have the problem and found or felt no improvement. I don't know what to do. I am a teacher, so I have to stand before white board to take classes for 2 or 3 hours daily.
Avatar m tn I have had knee pain since I was a kid. I am 20, and I have been a swimmer up until last year. I believe it may come down to more than one cause, but I will leave that up to the professionals to decide. Bascially, I have alot of pain around my pattella when squatting past 30 degrees. I believe it is in part due to patellar mistracking. I have been working on flexibility in my hamstrings and quads, as well as strengthening my VMO, since it is weaker than the outer quad muscles.
Avatar f tn I will be doing a lot of traveling this summer, lots of airports; does an orthopaedic boot support both knee and ankle? I use Voltaren gel and take Tramadol twice a day.
Avatar m tn This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor. Other possibilities are bursitis (inflammation of fluid filled sac over joints), tendonitis (inflammation of cords joining muscles to bones) or due to weakness of patellar bone.
Avatar m tn My question is, once I stop taping the toes together will they go back to their original state? If the taping doesn't work, the doctor wants to try another procedure. At this point, I'll probably not do anything, especially with this doctor.
Avatar n tn The Boxer’s fractures are treated by immobilizing the joint using a variety of splints, a cast, or taping techniques. “Buddy-taping” involves taping the little finger to the ring finger. It typically takes four to six weeks for the fracture to heal and thereafter some more time to regain motion and strength. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am not sure why I am writing down all this. I guess I am looking for some support. It's been almost 5 months now since my high risk exposure. The anxiety gets worse and worse, so I finally decided to go back to my home country to do the final test. I've been tested negative after one week and 39 days. It didn't really give me much relieve. rather the opposite: I got so anxious that I couldn't go to a further test.

Avatar f tn however, does not take medication. He is exhibiting signs of inappropriate sexual behavior such as video taping himself in acts of rectal stimulation, video taping friends while involved in sexual intercourse and has been accused by his aunt of inviting her small children to watch porn on the computer. He denies that he has a problem. What do I do, or how do I get him to see that his behavior is not appropriate or normal?
Avatar n tn This may simply be a jammed finger or it could be an injury to the collateral ligaments or volar plate. The numbness may be bruising of the small sensory nerve to the finger tip, the digital nerve. If there is no gross deformity or instability, "buddy taping" (taping to the adjacent finger, with one thin strip of tape above the knuckle and one below) will be useful for support and to encourage motion. In the the case of even a jammed finger, swelling may persist for some time.
1492935 tn?1288596706 I skinned and cut open my knee yesterday. I was at a place with no bandaids or ointment so I had to improvise. I washed the 1in. area with soap and water, then cut a 1 inch square from a pantyliner, covered the wound with it, and used bandage tape to adhere it. Today (the day after the incident), I tried to remove the pad but it will not come off. I let the hot water from the shower run for 15min on it but it did nothing.
Avatar m tn Because of the atrophy in my leg, I will have to wear a brace for the rest of my life and this brace seems to be the one that gives me the most support. I hope your knee is better and you do not have to wear a brace indefinitely but if you do, I recommend the Donjoy Defiance III. It is a custom fitted brace. Your doctor should be able to help. Best wishes to you and stay positive. You'll be fine...
228628 tn?1214846242 Taping down off 60-70mg of Hydro per day. I had just recently worked my way up to that dose, my normal dose was about 40mg a day since the beginning of the year. I had slowly worked up to 60-70 this past month, and knew it would only go downhill from there. I quit my job, started fighting with my loved ones, lost all drive to do ANYTHING other than "get high"...and sadly, as you guys probably all know, I wasn't even getting that high anymore....just taking them to feel normal. BAD!
405614 tn?1329144114 Lately we've talked about video-taping symptoms to show our neurologist. Quix suggested that I should have my roommate tape my eyes when I first wake up and my vision is all jittery. When Fluffy woke me at 4 am and my vision was jittery, I rolled over, saw my cell phone, so I grabbed it and turned on the video function. I discovered several things; 1. I do not look that good on video at 4 am, especially in the light of a dim bed-side table. 2.
