Common Questions and Answers about Knee support bursitis

knee

Avatar f tn So, in October - November 2021 I've had bursitis on my right knee for several weeks from prolonged kneeling possibly due to my old job which then turned into an abscess and was in hospital for a week on antibiotics with septic bursitis. The doctors were never sure how I developed it. If I remember correctly my doctor said it was gram positive cocci.
Avatar m tn I have bursitis of the knee that hasn't fully healed in over a year. If I exercise with the bursitis, including use of the leg extension machine, what kind of injury am I risking?
701160 tn?1228413523 Pre-patella bursitis or "housemaid's knee" is quite common in laborers who work on their knees such as carpet installers or tile men. It is also common in wrestlers, as you've already found out. This ailment is an irritation of the bursa in front of the kneecap (patella) and results in a collection of fluid within the bursa, and thickening of the bursal tissue itself. These are often treated with ice and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication.
Avatar m tn Last August I discovered a bubble on my left knee cap and was told it was bursitis. That went away with Ibuprofen. For the past few months, I have had a bad burning feeling in my left knee. It is there most of the time when I am at rest or up walking around. I am a Pharmacy Technician so I do not do a lot of physical work. I do sit at a desk most of the time.I do not recall injuring it. I went to my local Prompt care this past weekend and the doctor said it is not bursitis.
Avatar f tn This may be related to prepatellar bursitis, or "housemaids" knee". The bursa sits in front on the patella (kneecap) and protects the patella tendon as it glides. If you kneel on it for prolonged amonts of time it becomwes chronically thickened and inflamed. You may have a hemorrhagic form, where you are bleeding itno the bursa.
Avatar f tn I have had knee pain in both my knees since I was 13 years old. It started off as cartilage wearing out. In 2015 I revisited the doctor after 7 years with knee pain once again. My PCP said I had a Patella Tracking Disorder. Fast forward to 2016 and I had an MRI done that revealed a Level One ACL injury along with cartilage damage as well as Tendonitis and Bursitis.
Avatar f tn I’m 52, have had left leg pain (hip area down to ankle) left hip is painful to touch, aching in left leg, pain in knee and stiffness in left knee ( low mobility in knee ). Doctor said my reflexes are overactive. I’ve had MRI cervical, MRI lumbar ( nothing conclusive ). Also having bladder issues. Recurring UTIs or what feels like UTI, bladder control issues and urinary frequency.
Avatar f tn I injured my knee at football in December. I’ve rested my knee and it’s not healed I still get pain and aches with resting it in a bent position in the centre of the knee, I also get pain when doing explosive movement and small things like running up the stairs. I’ve been to see a physio and he seems to think I have bursitis, he has given me exercises and I’ve been stretching my muscles and rolling out but it doesn’t seem to be improving.
Avatar n tn Hello Tttyner, welcome to the pain management Forum of Medhelp. I am sorry to hear about your knee pain. "Bad" knees runs heavy in my family. I know how painful they can be. I have been lucky enough to avoid them. There are so many different reasons that could be the cause of your knee pain. Arthritis, Ligament issues, Cartilage or Meniscus tears, Chondromalacia Patella (knee cap) Bursitis and the list goes on.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Bursitis of knee usually presents only with pain. Some amount of swelling and redness can also be present, but that is not the differentiating symptom. It is usually associated with significant pain when kneeling and can cause stiffness and pain with walking. Also, in contrast to problems within the knee joint, the range of motion of the knee is frequently preserved. Consult a orthopedician for further assistance. Best.
Avatar n tn Other possible conditions that can present with a lump on the knee include a prepatellar bursitis and infrapatellar bursitis. Both conditions can be secondary to repeated trauma to the tissue overlying the patella. It would be best to seek consult with your doctor. Take care.
Avatar f tn Last year it was quite recurrent for only a month- during the fall, but I put ice pads and a knee support during the day. Keep in mind the pain only happens when I'm sleep. This year I didn't have it only until I got pregnant for the first time and in my 19 week. It started again while I'm sleeping. I have no idea what to do. It's on and then off for a long period of time and if it happens then is when I'm sleep. Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn I also have knee problems that started when I was pregnant with my daughter who is almost 4. I can be walking and my knee cap moves so my knee locks up. It happens a whole lot more when I am pregnant apparently, since it was worse with her and now it's worse again and I'm pregnant. I can't wait for my son to be here.
Avatar n tn I had hip bursitis in my right hip after in a car accident. The greater trochanter bursitis was caused from injury. After severe swelling the tingling in my foot was also very apparent. I believe it was a result or impeachment on blood flow. After a year of misdiagnosis and relying heavily on my left leg. I have now developed greater trochanteric bursitis on my left leg and yes I can concur that I have tingling in my left foot now but related to the swelling.
Avatar n tn On and off swelling of the knee can also be due to prepetallar bursitis. You should go back to your surgeon for further advice. Take care!
Avatar m tn My wife is 35yrs, she has got severe pain in her left knee. Her MRI reports says, posterior disc protrusion at L5-S1 & left paracentral disc protrusion at L4-L5. THE QUESTION IS, PAIN IN HER KNEES IS DUE TO THIS PROBLEMS WHICH HAS BEEN REPORTED IN MRI?
Avatar n tn 25 years ago i had a right retinacular release of the right knee. The knee is causing pain on movement; I use movelat gel; now the pain is severe at times. The knee clicks when walking.
Avatar m tn I have had pain behind my knee for almost a year now. I had a meniscal tear taken care of last June and I was told it would also take care of the ganglion cyst that had developed. 6 weeks after the surgery I was still having the pain and discomfort behind my knee. I experience increased tightness and pain with exercise....the more I use it the less I am able to do. Even walking causes discomfort. I am not able to pick up my foot and move it back as if trying to touch my butt with my foot.
Avatar m tn I was putting in padded flooring in my home gym for about 4 hours. Since then I've had pain in my right knee only when kneeling on my right knee (like when tying shoes). It's to the side of the knee and feels like something is being stretched laterally at first, before I get a sharp pain that feels like it's stinging/tingly. It is not completely on the side of my knee, but in the softer area to the side of my knee cap.
Avatar f tn I have had a sharp pain on the inside of my knee about 3 inches from my kne cap. It hurts to extend and bend knee. It hurts to run but I can walk, bike and stair climb with little pain. I can pinpoint the spot where it hurts. I am a runner.
Avatar f tn A few minutes later my knee felt tight and like I had a bruise. After looking at it, I noticed a golf size swelling on the top of my knee. When touched it felt like liquid in it. I went to the Dr. the next day and he said it was Bursitis and to watch for redness and hot feeling as that is a sign of infection. I have tried to ice it and rest whenever possible (not easy w/ 3 little ones). The swelling has subsided but the wierd thing is the bruising.
Avatar m tn i got a bad knee if i try to work on it i start limping and it throbbs and ackes even in t he summer time is that arthritis or do u think theres something else wrong in there
Avatar f tn This can be due to tendonitis, bursitis, stiff knee, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis or due to popliteal cysts. It is difficult to diagnose on net. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
