Common Questions and Answers about Knee problems when walking

knee

Avatar f tn It feels like my knee (the issue is not my knee) is locked and hyper extended when I walk at times. This comes and goes without much warning. The faster I work, the worst it gets and the slower my speed the easier it gets. Sometimes I can't even walk fast even if I try. I had it so worst after my first Zumba fitness prior to my diagnosis which ended me in ER.
Avatar f tn Knee braces can provide support, stability, and pain relief for various knee issues, including meniscus tears. By wearing a knee brace, you can alleviate some of the stress on your knee and promote healing.
Avatar n tn Its does not seems to happen when she is baring weight such as carrying our child. It does not happen walking up stairs or when she tenses or leg when she is walking. It is guaranteed to happen the first step she takes after she exercises (stationary bike).
Avatar f tn leg weakness (causes my walking to be more of a waddle) - numbness - calluses - knee problems (due to the weakness which would cause more pressure to the knees.) That's my theory but from the neuro's mind I don't have no problem even though he was the one that noticed the weakness.:( Sorry for the vent. Just had to get it out!!

Avatar n tn Do you have any instep problems?? My foot rolls out when I walk and this was giving me problems in my knee when I walked. I went to a 'propper' athletics shoe store and actually spoke to someone who knew the ins and outs of all the shoes. They fited me with a pair of joggers that counteracted my rolling out and I immediatly noticed the difference in my knee while walking.
Avatar f tn I have no reflex in my right knee and I was thinking about getting a brace for it. Anyone have similar problems and used a brace?
Avatar f tn dietary changes, any new or increase medications, weight gain/loss, changes to a lower activity level eg sitting more than you use too and effecting circulation, flexibility, muscle strength, spasticity etc, I also think of things like where exactly the pain is eg knee, upper leg lower leg, hip, etc, if its the whole limb or an isolated muscle thigh, calf etc What type of pain do you feel eg ache, tight, burning, bee sting, spreading, sharp etc and If there is a pattern to the pain eg all the
Avatar m tn My wife has been having pains behind her knees for about 4-5 months now. I can feel a pop in her knee when she extends her leg out. She has these pains when she walks, and she can have them when she is not even doing anything physical such as sitting or lying down. Sometimes her pains are so intense that she can't walk. She has seen a doctor about this problem and the doctor referred her to a physical therapist without even attempting to diagnose her problem or even take an x-ray.
Avatar f tn ve been experiencing posterior knee pain, more medially than laterally. It hurts most when walking (when i straighten the leg out to take the next step with the achy leg- making it difficult to walk normally). Walking up stairs does not cause pain, nor does it hurt when i sit/rest, and actually seems to relieve the pain when bending the knee. It is not tender to touch, and i don't think it's swollen or warmer than the other knee.

Avatar n tn I have knee problems and walk daily for an hour in chest-high salt water, but I am unsure how to log this, vis-a-vis calories burned. I'd appreciate any help out there. Thanks.
Avatar m tn The specific question I’m looking for information on is whether using heel wedges in footwear to help with supination can cause knee problems. Now for lots of boring history. In September 2022 I was found to supinate (walk on the outside of my feet). Apparently, I always have since I’ve rolled my left foot under intermittently since I was a teen. Nobody ever told me I supinated. The recommended ¼” wedges in all my shoes, so I added them to all my footwear.
Avatar n tn My bone that is on the side of my right knee is bigger than the other side. After walking for a halh hour my knee starts hurting and my leg from the knee down gets numb. I even get pain sometime even lying down. I have a bad back but I don't believe it is from that because the pain does not radiate from my back down to my foot like before. I have a herniated disc at my L5 S1 disc and I have some Arthritis on the L4 disc.
Avatar f tn I have a friend who would like to loose weight but has multiple medical problems. She has bursitis of the hip and knee, fibromyalgia (mostly affecting hands) and an umbilical hernia. She cannot walk far at all due to muscle weakness and gets fatigued very quickly. I would like to help her build up a bit of strength and loose weight to make her everyday activities easier. Any suggestions please?
Avatar f tn I get unbelievable pain from my knee down to my ankles when I jog. After about 40 minutes that pain is some what tolerable and I can jog for 4-5 minutes straight. For the rest of my day my ankles are sore. Does anybody have any idea what this is?
Avatar m tn I am an active 57 yr old woman who dislocated her knee at 17 and subsequently had two surgeries on that knee due to cartilage problems. After avoid almost all sports, I took up tennis 10 years ago without any knee problems. Two years ago when I tore a tibial tendon and was told there nothing that could be done for me, I got custom orthodics, started working with a trainer to increase muscular leg strength and lost 30 lbs.

Avatar f tn Ess, thanks for your reply. I have not yet been dx'd with MS, but I'm wondering why not. My last MRI's were done in April of this year, and it's the first time, to my knowledge, that they found the hyperintense lesions on my brain, and it's the first time my SSEP was abnormal, to my knowledge. My neurologist is not an MS specialist, and he's fed up with me, thinks I'm faking having a hard time walking (like what would THAT gain me??
Avatar f tn My dad also said that my meniscus could be damaged so now of course I am very worried about a blown knee. When you blow out your knee is there always a lot of pain? I have a pretty high pain threshold, and I would say pain was a 5 or 6 out of 10. I just want to know what to expect when I go in to have it looked at. Is there good chance based on my symptoms of having a blown knee? Thanks for reading and if you choose to do so, replying. I appreciate it.
Avatar f tn I am a veteran when it comes to knee problems. Torn meniscus cartilage, 2 knee scopes (arthroscopic surgeries), and finally a total knee replacement. If your knee is swelling, especially in the morning after sleeping, it may be a torn meniscus cartilage. The older we get, the more brittle our cartilage becomes and the more prone it is to damage from impact, etc... I have had lots of injuries over the years but the knee had the worst pain of all.
Avatar f tn m also duckfooted (out-toed), I think this may have something to do with it because my right foot goes out at a greater angle when I walk than my left foot. I think it stresses out my knee, but noone believes me. help?
Avatar f tn Now that the weather is warmer, I have no more back pain, BUT I have problems walking. My right knee is aching, and when I start walking, my leg below the knee (shin area) aches too. Also I have a numb feeling on the bottom of my foot. When I quit walking, I have to put my leg up on a chair for a few minutes and then the pain will calm down. Also when I am driving sometimes, my right leg hurts when putting my foot on the accelerator or brake.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had left knee TKR 3 months back. I have problems with walking. When I lift my left foot to walk, my knee jerks and then I place my foot on ground, usually I land on forefoot. There is swelling on medial side of knee as well. and lots of stiffness. My ROM is good, Extension 0 and Flexion 133. I had uncemented TKR, and latest Xray showed bone has not fused with prosthesis yet. Can someone help me. Thanks.
