Common Questions and Answers about Knee problems running shoes

knee

Avatar n tn Do you have any instep problems?? My foot rolls out when I walk and this was giving me problems in my knee when I walked. I went to a 'propper' athletics shoe store and actually spoke to someone who knew the ins and outs of all the shoes. They fited me with a pair of joggers that counteracted my rolling out and I immediatly noticed the difference in my knee while walking.
1470596 tn?1286713970 I had this problem and realised thanks to my physio, that I overpronated when running. This can cause knee problems which is why I needed to buy shoes with arch support which stops the foot rolling inwards. For walking you can buy orthotic insoles but I would not recommend running with these. I use Adistar Salvations to run. A good running shop will check you for pronation before you buy. Also this might seem obvious but are you stretching before and after running.
15695260 tn?1549593113 As someone who has consistently run about 30 to 50 miles a week for the past 17-18 years (recently it is 60 miles plus for marathon training), I have gone through a lot of running shoes.
Avatar m tn If you're running on a hard surface like blacktop or pavement that's no good! are you using a good pair of running shoes? it could be Shin splints. tight calf's try stretching and strengthening use hot/cold pads and massage it will take time.
Avatar m tn Now that your wearing supportive shoes the pain has went away. The wrong shoes for a lot of us can cause all sorts of problems with not only our feet but also our knees, ankles, back and neck. You can buy inserts at any drug store but you might want to think about having them specially made for you. They will take like a cast of your feet and custom make them for you. It can be expensive but you can always check with your insurance to see if they cover them, if you have insurance.
Avatar f tn It felt like I had glass in the joint. I ended up having to get the best running shoes I could afford from a specialist shop that videoed my running style etc. I have since then been running for nearly a year now with few problems. I still get some pains if I run on uneven ground but if I stick to paved areas, no problems. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I had my knee partiallly replaced on the inside of knee. Was in a lot of pain in bursa sac area and along incision. My ortho tried 3 injections and the nerve continued to intensely burn, twirl and I felt like something cold was running down the inside of my calf. I felt this 24-7. 1 month ago the Dr. reopened the incision and clipped the nerve. I am now experiencing not as intense burning but like their are more nerves being hot. Will this go away.?
Avatar f tn If we wear the wrong shoes, we cause trouble. Changing your shoes can make a difference. All shoes have exactly x number of miles in them. They may look fine but be done. Is this all your shoes that you get this issue in? Have you ever heard of peripheral neuropathy? https://www.webmd.com/brain/understanding-peripheral-neuropathy-basics#1 Feet are a common place to have this. Are you sure your symptoms don't match that? But you are right.
16237877 tn?1446544835 I love doing squats but, for about a year and half, i have not been able to perform this exercise because my left knee hurts. Each time I try to squat, there's a clicking sound in my left knee and, it hurts bad. As a result, even when I try, my right leg carries all the weight and, i don't feel the impact of the exercise on my quads. What can i do to remedy this situation or, how can i train my quads without squats?
Avatar f tn Only ONE knee hurts? Which part of your knee hurts? Front, back or sides of knee cap? It only hurts WHILE you run? What is the end result when you are done? Shaking after you run is not uncommon and is usually a sign you were running on empty during your practice. It's the after affect of that. Lactic acid builds up. Do you do anything for recovery? My son's coach instructs them to drink a bottle of chocolate milk for recovery post run.
Avatar f tn I do wear excellent shoes, the top Asics and I buy new ones every few months as i wear those shoes all the time. I do not wear regular shoes, I live in my running shoes. I think this shin pain is a chronic issue, rather than an acute one. Even when I let them rest for a few weeks, as soon as I start doing an incline, or up my speed, it is always the same. As soon as I drop down to a normal walk, within a few minutes the pain subsides.
Avatar f tn hello ty for responding to me i think i did this from running or either walking bit to fast and i havent bang my knee any where at all so i think u prob right about tendonitis but i will be going to see my dr regarding this as well.
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar f tn I want to make sure to prevent something bad (like some of the things I've read). I am training for the NY Marathon now and it's about 2 months away. I have had runner's knee before and so as a preventative have gone to the doctor who cured me (using ART, active release therapy) every other week. My knees are pretty much symptom free as a result. He is a tri-athlete chiro focused on runners/athletes and just does some preventative deep massages and ART.
Avatar n tn Avoid running on concrete and make sure your shoes fit and support your foot properly, if possible go to a store that specializes in running shoes. These will all help prevent further injury, but first you may need to take even more time off.
Avatar f tn I'm 17, and I've had knee pain in my right knee as long as I can remember. it is usually happens after standing/walking for long periods of time. Ive been to my doctor and to an orthopedic doctor, and they don't know what it is. I've gone through many xrays, and the only thing they found was a small, thin line going across my kneecap, but they said that it was nothing to worry about.
Avatar n tn Cardiovascular conditioning can be maintained by stationary bicycling, pool running, or swimming (flutter kick). Reviewing any changes in training prior to chondromalacia patella pain, as well as examining running shoes for proper biomechanical fit are critical to avoid repeating the painful cycle. Generally, full squat exercises with weights are avoided. Occasionally, bracing with patellar centering devices are required.
Avatar n tn ve got horrifically bad shoes. Your docs know a lot more than I do, but hip problems can be labrum tears or bursitis or both, or a periformis injury, almost everyone gets lower back problems at some point, and the knee could be torn connective tissue. You would seem to be too young for arthritis, but who knows? By the way, 45 is really young -- the bad stuff hits you later than that unless you're a serious athlete, in which case it hits you all the time.
Avatar n tn SO I AM HAVING PRETTY EXTREME PAIN ONLY WHEN KNEEING ON LEFT KNEE--USUALLY DOMINATE KNEE THAT I ALWAYS KNEE ON WITH ALL MY WIEGHT ON FIRST. DOESNT HURT TO WALK ON OR BEND OR ANY OTHER MOTION. RECENTLY I CAN FEEL SENSATIONS FROM A LITTLE BELOW MY KNEE LIKE "PINS AND NEEDLES" BUT VERY SLIGHT. I CAN LIGHTLY TOUCH BELOW CENTER OF KNEE AND FEEL SAME PAIN WITH VERY LITTLE PRESSURE LIKE A SLIGHT RUB.
Avatar m tn I started noticing that after running for 3 to 5 miles, I get bruises on my knee (the left knee has darker / larger bruise than the right knee). The bruises only hurt like a bruise when I press down on them. But they are not particularly painful when I walk or run the next day. I run about twice to 3 times a week. Question: Is this someting that I need to pay more attention to or is there any knee exercises that I can do? Thank you!!
Avatar m tn t want to stop running. Surgeon suggest him to fins that shoes with minimum padding in the heel cup help out. Do you guys have any suggestion ?
3205586 tn?1362842985 LOL the desire to be taller started when i was in primary school, I was always the smallest kid at school, lol i celebrated reaching 5ft. You know if your a shortie, everything you buy is always too long, so heels of every colour, hight and style are a staple for your wardrobe lol though i'm pretty sure that even with out the mobility issues, i wouldn't wear the sky scraper heels DD and her friends wear, ugg they are deadly.
497951 tn?1209829733 I have knee problems and will most likely need a knee replacement on my right knee eventually. Also, I have heard the excuse about *scar tissue.* I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist in Oct. 2007, and it still bothers me and the doctor blamed it on scar tissue. I don't know. I'll be honest, I don't really know what to tell you. I have a lot of joint and muscle pain and other problems with blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.
730826 tn?1317943334 I get blisters really easily and did with these shoes but after 2 months of running in them, they were good. Now they are gone. OH well. I dont have weights but do have a resistance band :D Thanks for the tips. Since I started running, the exercise ball feels like nothing! Not even worth doing compared to the awesome burn I feel in my legs. (I love the tingle I get afterwards) Well Ill make the best of it!
