Avatar m tn You can have arthritis at young age and when the joint cartilage is lost then you would need total knee replacement. Take care!
Avatar n tn While ACL injury is uncommon in the general population, athletes, especially young women who play basketball, soccer or volleyball are susceptible. Treatment of an ACL injury can get you back to your sport, but the best defense is a strong offense. The ACL may tear, either partially or completely, as a result of a hard twist, sudden stop while running, jump landing or direct blow to the knee.
Avatar f tn My pain is mostly on the side of my knee cap and it swells just by standing, i tried mentioning it to my doctor but he keeps making me wait to see if it gets better, he also recently put my in a patella j brace, to keep my knee in place, but it seems to be making my pain worst.
Avatar f tn I had an x-ray on my knee because of pain, and now they have found another cyst in my right knee. My dr. said it is not what was cuasing the pain, we were just lucky we caught it or something. I can't even get that one looked at by a specialist until late August. Now i've been diagnosed with a kidney infection... but i'm very worried because no urine smaple or anything was taken, and i was only looked at by a doctor in a clinic for one minute...
Avatar m tn 1974 said it was like munchhousen something and not the one for women doc.
Avatar n tn A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain. I can still handle the back pain cause it stops after 30 minutes of training, and returnes after it (I don't care as long as I can play), but knee pain in my left knee is horrible. Yesterday I jumped and felt as like someone is stabbing me with a knife in my knee. I couldn't stand on my left leg for 10 minutes, and after that it still hurts a bit, but I can walk nicely today.
Avatar m tn NO DOCKTER WANT TO DO ANYTHING WITH ME AT THIS TIME!! I BEEN ON NARCOTICS 5 YRS NOW,,FOR KNEE PAIN AND LOWER BACK PAIN..WILL MY KNEES JUST SNAP AT THE PIVIT AREA???? SOMETIMES WHEN I WALK IT FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO SNAP..PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS??
Avatar f tn I found out yesterday that I have almost no cartilidge left in my left knee and there are also spurs. The MRI report contained several big words I can't remember right now but my doctor actually said to me "You're a little young for a knee replacement but........". I am scared to death. In the last six years, I have had the tendons in my right ankle reconstructed and 4 screws and two pins placed in my left hand and wrist.
Avatar f tn A Doctor I saw in PA said they will not do anything for my knee because I am to young. I was told to just quit walking up or down hills and steps.(at the time I lived in the Mountains of PA in a Cape cod style house. So that was a little hard. Plus I have 2 kids. 12 and 8.) I have just moved to a 1 floor house in FL and the pain is worse sometimes. Celebrex is not working. Knee grinds. Now the other one is doing it and my Lower back is killing me.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem. I have had chronic knee problems starting in my freshman year of high school (4 years ago), when my knee cap shifted out of place almost an inch. I did 2 rounds of physical therapy which helped my knee get back into place. A few weeks later I fell on it very hard, against the side of the bath tub, and it caused me to pull my siatic nerve. My bad knee and whole leg went numb for about 2 months.
1081864 tn?1257519948 had always some cysts on my ovaries which always caused pain or not and went away on their own. but was hard to even get pregnant. this year my periods come every few months and some of them for 2 weeks slow, inbetween 1 was 1 week very heavy with clots, than my last one from sept.4 til sept.27 2009 slow flow. is it PCOS? also have breast pain, will have a mammogram next week because have high history of cancer (incl.breast) in my family (fathers side).
Avatar f tn He will not go to the Dr and I keep it pretty much down from swelling with the brace and ace bandage and he takes Advil for swelling and pain. He does not have pain all the time like you. I would suggest you see a Dr and have x rays done because there may be a treatment to end the pain and ultimately treat the problem once and for all. Good luck!
Avatar f tn ll usually last a few days and go away. sometimes it is accompanied by knee pain (i dislocated my knee cap in high school about 17 yrs ago) And sometimes there is a radiating feeling in my inner thigh. sometimes I have all these symptoms at once or sometimes 1 or 2. a bit before it all started happening I noticed the veins behind my need were getting darker but not bulging. none of the areas feel warm and no redness. on the inside of both knees I have a large cluster of spider veins.
Avatar f tn i am 53 years old. i had surgery for torn meniscus in left knee on 10/13/2007, and i have been in pain since. i am currently receiving my 3rd round of synvisc. i have had 3 or 4 cortisone injections, they seemed to be helping but the times in between have gotten shorter. my dr. keeps telling me i'm too young for knee replacement. he tells me it's arthritis, i can't believe it. i am not overweight (147 lbs.), however, before the surgery i weighed 128 lbs.
Avatar m tn And i am surprised of few facts that makes people totally helpless. Knee pain, back pain these are very common today but what is the proper medication of this problem? Thanks for the answers in advance.
Avatar m tn Hi Hendo, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your knee pain. At such a young age I urge you to consult with your physician. In my opinion this pain is more likely to be a ligament or tendon issue, less likely a meniscus tear. Those are more common in your age group then an actual bone issue. However it should be evaluated. Please make an appointment for a consult with your PCP. In the meantime avoid activity that is aggravating or increasing your pain.
559803 tn?1215906890 I had the arthroscopic surgery done on my right knee several months ago and it seems the pain is worse since I had that done. My Dr. said it's bone on bone basically and he doesn't want to do a total knee replacement right now because I'm "too young"...( I am 41 ...nice to have that be called too young..lol ) ..anyway..I just want to know if the injections hurt?
Avatar f tn Hello Bon, Welcome to the Pain Mangement forum. I am glad that you have found us. However I am sorry to heat about your knee pain. "Bad knees" run in my family and I understand how painful and debilitating knee pain can be. Has cortisone been effective for you in the past? If it has not been they usually won't repeat them. As Sandee said the general rule is 3 in a year but I have know physicians that will perform 4.
