Avatar f tn Knee pain could be mechanical, your posture when doing these exercises could be leaving your knees damaged? You may need to have your balanced runners checked, maybe add some feet supports to correct the knee angles etc. It fixed my issue somewhat.
Avatar m tn I still limp, although after the first 10 steps, once the leg moves a bit, I do better. Most of the pain is in the knee, the leg still swells at the actual fracture site, but the knee is the major pain area. How long should I expect this to continue? I was a very active person before this accident, walked a few miles a day, and now I feel like a slug! The pain has changed me, and I hate taking the narcotics...Please...any advice would be greatly appreciated.
1001168 tn?1250025720 t count the pain in my left leg. I now have to have a total knee replacement on my left knee, without it the pain is manageable. Also, I have Sciatica in my left hip. The doc said my knee will only get worse. I'm also trying not to take any more pain meds for fear of going though withdrawels again. I don't want to have the surgery for fear of the meds I will receive in the hospital. Over the last 5 years I have tried every non-narcotic pain med on the market and they don't help.
Avatar f tn When your knee hurts, it throws off the way you walk, stand, even sleep. So it's no wonder your back hurts as well. What kind of arthritis were you dx'ed with? Osteo (injury or wear-and-tear related) or rheumatoid (an autoimmune disease)? FWIW, I had a hip replacement at age 37, but I've had rheumtoid arthritis since age 5 so my case is a little different than yours. Ask for a referral to an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in knees.
Avatar f tn So im 17 weeks and last night I fell down the steps on my bottom. I didn't hit my tummy or my head. Just slipped an fell on my bottom pretty hard about 4 or 5 steps. There's no bleeding or any different changes besides my butt bone is so so sore and hurts. I have a doctor appt Wednesday so I didn't call. I'm not too concerned about the baby being hurt. I feel like everything is fine. Has anyone else expierenced this during there pregnancy an they were OK after?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply to when will I walk again: My defect was on my bone under the kneecap. My doctor said that it was a hole the size of the end of his pinkie finger..he is an average size. I faithfully used the CPM for three weeks postop for six hours a day and put no weight on my knee for six weeks. During that time, I used a scooter to get around my house, then I began crutches continuously.
Avatar m tn I have chronic post op knee pain and swelling after 4 reconstructive surgeries. I am a machinist and must go up and down steps into and out of a large machine all day. I am seeing a pain management physician and have tried nerve stimulator, pain patchs and percoset. Currently I am using the knee patches but feel like the long term use of percoset is causing me to have other health problems, i.e. ?liver damage, erectile dysfunction, etc.
Avatar f tn Coming down the stairs Saturday his knee gave way and he fell the last couple of steps down the stairs, this is worrying him. If I understand you correctly my husband knee could have arthritis in it and his x-ray and MRI would not show anything. Then how can they diagnose this condition? What questions should we ask the doctor? I look forward to your answers.
Avatar m tn The best stretch for it is with using a foam roller, a large cylindrical tube of dense foam. When you find one, lie on your side on top of it and roll your leg along from your knee to hip. First it is very painful but releases quite quickly if you do it often. I feel your pain.
Avatar f tn I am PRE-OP and know that chiarians shouldnt lift much at all. In my opinion.. it seems that when using crutches to take weight off leg.. i am pretty much liftig my whole body weight.. which cant be good for my chiari right??! Or am i thnking wrong. I tried to bring up my concern with the ER doc but she didnt seem interested. Maybe she didnt know what chiari was. woudlnt be surprised! lol Any advice? Thanks!
Avatar n tn The problem is I feel severe pain at the back of my knee any time I try to walk. Can any medication help alleviate or stop this pain. What can help me wriggle my right toes again?
Avatar m tn I have not been able to sleep or sit for more than 1 hr before intense pain forces me to massage around the knee, front and back. When this happens the knee feels like stone and I am unable to lift it without using my hands. It then takes me up to a minute before my knee will allow me to walk without feeling that the spongy feeling and pain will cause it to give out. I have been going to physio 3 X a week for 3 and one half months.
Avatar f tn I need advice on what to do about the pain in my knee. I got into a small accident while biking last weekend. While biking along the main stretch of town, I collided with the side of a pick-up truck backing out between two buildings. He couldn't see me and I didn't see him until it was too late. Neither one of us was going very fast and there wasn't even any damage to my clothes from where I hit the pavement, so I figured the bumps and bruises were going to be the end of it.
Avatar f tn t done anything (knowingly) to injure it. The pain is below my knee cap where it meets the shin bone. It only hurts when in motion...walking or using stairs, or anytime I have my weight on it. I have to limp because the pain hurts so much. Some days are worse than others; some times there is very little pain. When sitting down there is no pain, and I can move my leg around with no pain while sitting. My knee pops occasionally but nothing new.
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago the left side of my left leg began hurting very bad, it feels numb and heavy. it often gets weak when i stand and go up or down steps. It hurts to sit for any amount of time, walking does help and it doesn't hurt but is always numb.. from my upper hip all the way down my leg but not to my foot and my knee feels tight and heavy. I thought it started with a bout of sciatica.. is this possible?
Avatar m tn sudden knee pain during pt and continued pain interior medial aspect. medic took xrays - all ok. Soft tissue issues. therapist can feel the popping of (muscle, ligament, tendon???) during flexion and extension. It feels like something has to pop over something else for leg to straighten. It hurts when it does. Occurs during weight-beating and non weight bearing. Therapist says muscle may be increasing in bulk but not stretching out causing other soft tissues??? to have to pop over them.
Avatar f tn Older woman here, developed knee pain 2 months ago. It thankfully went away, but then about a week ago started hurting again, this time in different location, just to the left and medial of my knee cap. Every step is excruciating, only way to describe it. Guess I have meniscus tear? But has anyone experienced this type of horrible pain with Every Step? If so did you find a remedy?
Avatar m tn i started to get a jolting sharp pain on my left knee i think coming from the knee cap or around the sides of the knee cap. it went away the next day but came back again few days later...... it seems to come when i just walk on the knee not every step but a certain pressure of my steps. Someone please help dancing is my Job and before i dish out money to a doctor i would like to try to understand what im dealing with. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar m tn Knee replaced 11-13-09. Finally felt I've been making some progress until yesterday. During therapy, performing lateral steps over 6" hurdles, I felt a sudden pain and kind of a pop on the interior medial aspect, a little toward the back of the knee. During the course of the day, I would experience sudden pain causing me to yell out, even when non-weight bearing. My wife appreciates this.
Avatar f tn So Tuesday afternoon I was in school and I was walking down these steps (only 4-5 steps) I missed the step and fell, I stood up all I had was a scrapped knee. The next day I get this random sharp pain on my left side where the top of your thigh is but to the side. That was wensday I felt it, Thursday I was fine but I food poisoning and passed gas but today I can't since I'm at school. Any advice what it could be? I think it's built up gas from today or I have have pulled something.
Avatar f tn I have injured my MCL in the left knee, which has now been almost 2 months ago. I still can't walk normal by fully extending the leg when making steps but started the exercises recommended by physiotherapist. Two weeks ago however, I have felt a quite big pressing pain onto my injured ligament which have set me back with the recovery. The physiotherapist has explained to me that I might have a meniscus problem which causes the bone to "pop" and press the ligament.
Avatar n tn Most pain is across the top of the knee cap and along the interior side of my knee. The pain is present while walking, climbing stairs and when I first stand after sitting for a long period of time. Additionally, if I stand for too long, my knee is extremely sore and stiff. The worst pain is that which wakes my in the middle of the night at least 1-2 times per week.
Avatar m tn I have internal bleeding in my right knee which has been going on for 3 months. I am a 59 year old male living in England and have suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 21.I have no other health problems. Despite many aspirations (sometimes using compression bandages,) the bleeding will not stop. It is so painfull that I have not been able to walk more than a few steps for months.
634733 tn?1316625992 Since that relapse and the arthroscopy I had on the arthritic knee, I have pain, stiffness and all sorts of sx in both my legs and now pain in both knee joints, one hip and my back also gets involved sometimes, this is my main concern currently as I cannot work out what is causing what!!! So anyone with the same please advice as to how to tell the difference? Or do others have the same problems.
Avatar f tn I jus noticed it getting painful over the course of a few days. I stopped exercise all together. I have some knee pain in a few different places around the kneecap and ITB and and uncomfortable "catching" sensation with every bend. I've went to 2 different doctors and had MRI and xray. MRI showed no damage but "just a little ganglion cyst in the joint 4mm". The first doctor just said it's just jumper's knee and rest with no brace needed.
Avatar f tn My left hip was replaced 6 months ago and my recovery was going great until 2 weeks ago. While walking I got a pain on the outside of my left knee. The pain comes and go, only occurs when I walk and can be felt anywhere on the outside of my leg from the butox to the shin. It also hurts when I stand from sitting and take the first steps. Until this happened I had completed my physical therapy and had a started participating in an exercise class.
Avatar f tn I also had the synvisc injections, cortisone injections, arthroscopy twice and my dr said the only cure was the knee replacement, bone on bone etc. When I think about the pain I was in then and the pain I am in now I think the old pain wasnt so bad.
