942127 tn?1276949209 One month ago I injured my left knee. I am still favoring that leg when I walk and have an appointment with an Orthopedic surgeon sep 16. However, I now have another problem and I wonder if it could be a result of favoring my left leg. Yesterday my right foot started hurting really bad and i could hardly walk on it. It still hurts very bad today. This is a problem, because now I am using my left leg more and am afraid it will re-injury that knee.
Avatar m tn I'm 32 and I've never had any sort of leg, knee, or joint problem. Lately I've noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. In the last few days I've noticed that I can feel something move in the same knee when I walk down stairs. It feels like it's located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. The right knee doesn't have any issues.
Avatar n tn You may want to see an orthopedic surgeon. The brace, can help prevent your knee from twisting & causing pain. You could have a torn meniscus. I twisted mine and a MRI showed a torn medial meniscus...I had out patient surgery but still have some pain. Atleast I can go up and down stairs and able to walk without a limp. I wear a petellar strap to prevent me from twisting my knee. Buy it at your pharmacy, sporting goods, K-mart. Ortho docs will charge you 3 times more. Just see your doctor.
Avatar n tn They dont occurr on a daily basis and they used to happen with more frequency when I was younger but I still have them today. The pain is usually in my right leg around the knee area. It sometimes, but not often, happens to my left leg and sometimes it happens to both. When I get them the pain is really strong. Sometimes I massage the area but that usually doesn't get rid of the pain even though it does alleviate it.
Avatar f tn I cannot slide on my knee without it popping and locking in a way I can beat describe as my knee getting stuck closed to the point where I have to squeeze it as tightly closed as possible. The pain is 10/10 and I can only unlocking it by hanging my knee over my other leg while lying on my stomach relieving pressure on the outside of the knee. This all started beginning when I injured my knee sliding on wet grass my cleat got stuck and twisted my ankle.
Avatar m tn I ripped most of mine during a martial arts fight 8 years ago, and had to give the sport up as my knee could no longer cope with the twisting actions and bearing all my weight on one leg (kind of essential for a kick, lol). I still feel a warning pain if I do certain activities, nearly a decade later, so I steer clear of those. I couldn't afford more than the initial consultation fee, so I never got advice on how to build it all back up again, but I wish I'd have known.
Avatar n tn During my senior season I hurt my knee during practice twice in a day first by falling and landing directly on it and then by twisting it. What resulted was an intense pain on the inside of my right knee that usually came after climbing stairs or having to keep my knees in the same position for an extended period of time (e.g. at a movie, or during a car ride). Eventually I went to a doctor who referred me to a physical therapist.
Avatar m tn Pain, swelling, popping sound in the knee could be due to arthritis, as it is the most common cause of pain in the knee after recurrent injuries to the knee. Burning, tingling and radiation of the pain to the hip and ankle relates to compression of nerve. I would suggest that you visit a orthopedician and get x-ray and MRI of the knee to confirm with the diagnosis. All the best.
Avatar f tn m sure my baby is fine, but to what extent can you get injured from falling and twisting really fast? My left lower back, rib, and hip to knee hurt really bad and I'm limping a bit because it hurts to walk. I do keep getting a pulling type feeling in my lower stomach.
Avatar f tn t think much of it, but now Saturday, I cannot straighten or completely bend my knee and I have nonstop pain all around my knee. I really need to know what is wrong as I am a Lifeguard and this is severely affecting work Also, my parents will not take me to the doctor as of yet. Thanks.
Avatar n tn ago I started having knee pain. I twisted my knee at work, and had to kneel for a long time behind my class who were performing on stage. Well, over the last couple wks the pain has gotten worse and worse. Today I CANNOT put weight on it and it is swollen. The pain originates on the inside of my knee, not in the soft spot next to the patella, but outside that. At this pt. the pain has spread all over my knee, but to touch it is super tender in that inside spot.
Avatar f tn I had a knee replacement done about 7 months ago, & since the surgery, i am in more pain & discomfort than before. i can no longer walk without using a walker(before the surgery i didn't even need a cane). the doctor who did the surgery told me repeatedly that i am fine & my leg just didn't take well to the surgery. Recently, I visited a different specialist who made me extend my leg far past my comfort zone & since then, my leg feels like it is twisting outward.
Avatar n tn s no blood in the damaged part of my meniscus, why do I swell after leg strengthening exercises. I have pain in the knee when twisting the joint, even when simply crossing my injured leg on the other. However, I can run pain free as long get a secure foot plant and I don't twist the knee. Is this consistent with a simple Meniscus tear? The joint itself doesn't seem "right". As though the parts aren't quite fitting together properly.
Avatar f tn My question is, after surgery is it normal for the knee not to be as solid as the good knee od is it likely that it is a rerupture? So far 3 doctors said it feels stable. Also, I'm worried about the safety of an MRI as I'm not sure if any metal was used during the procedure.
Avatar n tn there is no definitive test for fibro - they do tests to rule out other diseases - is the pain in your knee or on the outside of the leg at your knee or the inside of the leg near your knee and have they checked for osteoarthritis - you said behind the knee - do you mean behind the patella (knee cap) or at the back of your leg behind the knee - try to be very precise when telling the doctor where exactly the pain is coming from - i dont know much about ms but i know pain comes with it - i belie
Avatar f tn Lateral knee pain and after walking awhile the back of knee hurts. Pain worst when bend knee or go up and down stairs. Pain always there just worst when bend it. Pain has woke me up at night if sleep with knee bent. Xray snd MRI normal so orthopedic said PT and if pain continues come back in a month. PT has me in tears. 1306931 tn?1273540199 All I can suggest is that I take Nsaids like voltaren and it helps me with the arthritis in my knee. I also wear a knee brace when I walk or do any kind of physical activity. My knee makes a lot of crunching noises and sometimes its painful, but at least I can walk now. But yes you would need to call your orthopedic on your knee.
Avatar n tn I have pain behind my knee and my leg is swollen in the calf. I was checked for blood clot and it was negative. I feel heat coming out of my knee when I place an ice pack on it. It warms the ice pack quickly. My thigh is swollen too, but all the pain is in my knee. It hurts to touch the bones in my knee. My ankles are a little swollen and also the calf on the other leg. I have had a meniscus tear and arthritis in one knee and baker's cyst in the other.
Avatar n tn While playing racket ball the sole of my shoe stuck to the floor causing my ankle and knee to slide outward. I felt my knee buckle. I am not experiencing any pain unless I twist my knee. There is a small bulge on the outside of my knee cap. No popping noising when I bend my knee, it is hard to totally bend due to tightness from the swelling. I can put weight on it, but having to be really careful walking due to any twisting motion causing pain.
Avatar m tn Hi, I suffered a fall twisting my leg. MRI showed an undersurface tear in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. The MCL was mildly thickened and edematous. I had an arthroscopy 3 weeks ago and the doctor said there was no tear. I am still having significant pain in the medial knee when standing up. Is it possible the tear was missed ? I'm not sure what to do. I golf quite a bit in the summer and I'm afraid with my knee pain I won't be able to. What do you suggest?
Avatar m tn The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting. Lying down, getting up, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, any movement may cause the grabbing pain unexpectedly. It seems to radiate from the spine across the top of the hip and down the right leg.
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
