knee pain when riding bike

Hi; I have a lot of problems with my right butt cheek. When my lower back is on fire, my butt cheek will be as well. I don't take any chances riding a street bicycle I have a knee replacement and the very thought of falling on that knee kinda makes me ill. I do have an incumbent bike and I still have problems with my butt cheek getting really tender after riding it. I try to ride it very slow everyday, I get a little exercise that way. Take care.

It seems the only pain I have is when I walk because I straighten my knee. when I use the bike my knee never straightens completely, perhaps that is why it does not hurt?

I am 6 wks pregnant and I did a 15 mole long bike ride along with other cyclists. Is that safe? Or should I lay back from bike riding in my 1st trimester?

hi, i asked my doctor a similar question when i was pregnant but it was about riding a push bike and he strongly recommended that i didnt because it puts presure on your pelvis and can cause problems and as meccah24 said it is extremely dangerous

Pain, swelling, popping sound in the knee could be due to arthritis, as it is the most common cause of pain in the knee after recurrent injuries to the knee. Burning, tingling and radiation of the pain to the hip and ankle relates to compression of nerve. I would suggest that you visit a orthopedician and get x-ray and MRI of the knee to confirm with the diagnosis. All the best.

Hey remm thanks, I was told by Therapist if you keep doing the excercises they gave in PT, it would keep the scar tissue from building back, bike riding and swimming are suppose to be the best. My problem is still can't bend the knee well enough to push the bike pedals all the way around. Hope that helps.

I am taking 200mg of Celebrex daily for knee pain and I have Hep C. My hep doc sees no problem with it. Sometimes I take two, if I am going to be skiing or riding my bike hard; I'm just hoping that's OK! My two liver biopsys (5 years apart) have been normal.

I had this problem and realised thanks to my physio, that I overpronated when running. This can cause knee problems which is why I needed to buy shoes with arch support which stops the foot rolling inwards. For walking you can buy orthotic insoles but I would not recommend running with these. I use Adistar Salvations to run. A good running shop will check you for pronation before you buy. Also this might seem obvious but are you stretching before and after running.
