Avatar f tn Hello first of thanks for the help this site rocks :) So i have been having some really bad knee pain for about 3 years i just had a baby and it hurts so bad when I'm carrying him up and down our stairs. he is only 4 months old, but it fills like my legs are going to buckle from underneath me. they usually always hurt but more when I'm walking up and down the stairs. at night i drench my knees in icy hot.
Avatar f tn I need advice on what to do about the pain in my knee. I got into a small accident while biking last weekend. While biking along the main stretch of town, I collided with the side of a pick-up truck backing out between two buildings. He couldn't see me and I didn't see him until it was too late. Neither one of us was going very fast and there wasn't even any damage to my clothes from where I hit the pavement, so I figured the bumps and bruises were going to be the end of it.
Avatar f tn now that ive lost 82 lbs, im having more knee pain than before the surgery. I would occasionally have knee pain when I was extremely overweight whenever going up & down stairs. Now that I ve lost the weight, my knees hurt more often & I have to be careful when stepping up or down stairs, or bending over to pick something up off the floor. Is this because im not working out at all? Im not physically active at all & im wodering if this knee pain is because ive lost a lot of muscle?
Avatar f tn t done anything (knowingly) to injure it. The pain is below my knee cap where it meets the shin bone. It only hurts when in motion...walking or using stairs, or anytime I have my weight on it. I have to limp because the pain hurts so much. Some days are worse than others; some times there is very little pain. When sitting down there is no pain, and I can move my leg around with no pain while sitting. My knee pops occasionally but nothing new.
Avatar n tn your dilema sounds very similar to mine. I also loose my knee quite frequenty. I haven't seen a doctor yet, though. it took a bit of searching to find anything that sounds similar to my situation. I only have one question. Does it cause you a lot of pain. it doesn't hurt when my knee goes out. I does feel really weird. Mostly I'm embarassed especially at work. My co workers are starting to mimic my little bob as i catch myself before i fall.
Avatar f tn I went to sit down and I kinda landed on my knee hard , I felt a jolt go through to my stomach will this hurt the baby?
Avatar f tn His swelling is not bad when he wears his braces. He is concerned when he takes his braces off of a swelling/bump on the lower outside part of his knee cap. Coming down the stairs Saturday his knee gave way and he fell the last couple of steps down the stairs, this is worrying him. If I understand you correctly my husband knee could have arthritis in it and his x-ray and MRI would not show anything. Then how can they diagnose this condition? What questions should we ask the doctor?
Avatar n tn It seems to run along the edge of the knee cap. At first the pain was only when I walked up and down stairs and had to put all my weight on one knee but now I can hardly extend my knee without getting sharp pains on the inside of the knee. Also, not sure if this is relevant, but there is a painless bruise on the middle of my knee right below my knee cap and I have no idea where it came from. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks or so ago I got up outta my chair to go upstairs and thought i was just sitting wrong because it hurt a little going up the stairs, but coming down the stairs it felt like the inside of my knee was just on fire and immediately swollen. i ended up dropping everything and almost falling down the stairs, being a mother with very limited transportation i just loaded up on tylenol and rode it out hoping i just pulled something...
Avatar f tn ve been experiencing occasional bursts of severe, debilitating pain about where my tibia and fibula come close under my knee for a few weeks. It hurts every morning for about an hour when i wake up, and then if i stand too long or lean forward, or when i stand up from a seated position. It's also tender to touch, though not very swollen. Weirdly does not hurt while walking or climbing stairs...although descending stairs causes so pain.
Avatar f tn t really hurt but it has a big bruise and I get a pinching feeling when I bend my knee too much (eg when climbing down long flights of stairs and when putting my shoes on). Is it safe to assume there's nothing wrong and all it needs is time?
Avatar m tn Most of the time when I am walking around it feels like normal, however there are times that I feel excruiating pain in and around the knee. I have noticed most times it occurs is when i am bending deep with my knee I.e. getting into my car, going down stairs fast, bending down to pick something off the ground. However it does not always happen when I am doing these activities. When the pain starts the only way I have seen to relief the pain is to straighten out my leg.
Avatar n tn Hi! I had an impact injury on my left knee about 7 weeks ago now, and went to the doctor last week for an opinion. I'm 25, female, and no history of knee injuries. I'd been having pain on the back of my knee, as well as on each side of my knee cap. My knee had been stiffening and locking if I climbed up more than a flight of stairs. The MRI came back last week, and I was told that it thankfully isn't serious, is inflamed in a few areas, to RICE it and to take ibuprofen.
Avatar m tn ve noticed that when I plant my left foot and pivot on it to turn my body to the right, my left knee makes a popping sound. In the last few days I've noticed that I can feel something move in the same knee when I walk down stairs. It feels like it's located to the left (outside) of the center of the knee. The right knee doesn't have any issues. There is no pain or tenderness involved but I'm wondering if I should be taking some sort of action to prevent a future problem.
Avatar f tn It hurt pretty badly for a couple days, but I kept ice on it and rested it over the weekend and it improved dramatically. Now, it doesn’t hurt when I walk, but it hurts when I lean forward and put weight on it while it is bent. Like going down stairs or running. It also popped in ways it never did before. When I put it out in front of me and lock it, the kneecap seems to pop. It doesn’t pop when I am bearing weight on it and lock it.
Avatar n tn Take pain relief as directed on the packet and apply a cold pack to both knees. Try and keep the legs elevated. Make an appointment with your doctor so that he can refer you for xrays to see what is going on. It may be that the doctor will be able to see if you have fluid build up on the knees and this may need to be drained. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn Ever since then it grinds and pops like a car going over gravel, sore aches when idle, pain when bearing weight (going up/down stairs etc) and when lying down and bending the knee. Is this really all just down to ‘slight wear to the meniscus’? How should I go about it now as I really need to do something as I can’t progress in my job if it remains like this? For that reason, I really am open for any treatment options. Thank you so much and I hope I’ve posted in the right place!
198727 tn?1352054382 Ill be going up the stairs and all of the sudden it feels like i spilled something on my knee. It can be either side. I will get to the top of my stairs and look down to wipe off my jeans...and there is nothing there that is wet. I have even gone as far as to pull my pants down to check to see if something has leaked out of my knee...because thats what it actually feels like...a leak in my knee? It happens 6-10 times a day now. The spasms in my face are still happening as well.
Avatar m tn Squats, Legpress, Deadlifts, they all hurt right at the middle of the knee behind the patella. It also hurts when I try to jog and occasionally go down stairs. I saw an athletic trainer and he believes that it may be a bruised femure. I was wondering if anyone else had an opinion on this, and if they agree with the bruised femure, how long do you think this will last/are there any treatments I can do to speed the recovery process/can i do any form of cardio?
Avatar f tn I have been told by my GP just to rest for a wk or two until the swelling goes down but it is still there as is the pain on the stairs. I have pain in the shoulder and lower back. I am trying to exercise as much as the pain allows but my walking is greatly affected at the moment. I hate being like this, both my mam and grandmother had osteo and rhumatoidarthritis. Any advice would be received with thanks, I hope you are well and have found a way to manage the condition.

Avatar m tn After a couple of ACL surgeries over the years due to sports injuries and regular knee pain ever since when exercising, descending stairs etc., I was looking into the option of a combined hyaluronic acid/PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection - about which I'd heard great things - until I realised I didn't want to take the risk after the two half-botched operations I'd had done years ago. So I decided to simply take hyaluronic acid orally on the off-chance, and have had no pain since.
Avatar m tn Hello, the last few months, ive had pain above my knee cap, if i press on the muscle or tendor that seems to attach to the top of the knee cap, it is quite sore right where it connects to the knee cap, and when walking its ok, but stairs it really is sore, sitting down and getting up, kneeling. Ive tried applying heat to it, then stretching, then applying ice going for walks, stretching, seems to give temporary releif.
Avatar f tn Lateral knee pain and after walking awhile the back of knee hurts. Pain worst when bend knee or go up and down stairs. Pain always there just worst when bend it. Pain has woke me up at night if sleep with knee bent. Xray snd MRI normal so orthopedic said PT and if pain continues come back in a month. PT has me in tears. Should I get second opinion could MRI been read wrong. Help me i feel crazy and feel that the pain is in my head.
Avatar n tn Had my left knee replaced and severe pain from day one. When I lay on my right side , bend my knee 45% and try to lift it straight up , severe pain on the outside of the knee. Absolutely can not lift it. I told the doctor this after one month, he just said it ould get better with time. 13 months later no difference same intense pain. Knee bends 90% and works fine except when I try tp privot inward to the right.
