Avatar f tn 51 yo F, diagnosed with Runners Knee, have been in pain, swollen and limping for 7 months. Dr. says to just keep coming back for cortisone, but it really does nothing. I can hardly walk, I am in pain, do I have to live like this? Is my doctor on the right track? Maybe I have meniscus tears??? It affects everything... walking, sleeping, working. Help!! Also, I have had xrays only. Shows no arthritis. In both knees, although one is worse than the other.
Avatar m tn The area that is most tender to touch is underneath the kneecap where it has been swollen continuously for two years. When straightened, it looks like there is a lump on my knee. Some of the pain also occasionally runs down towards my ankle. Recently I have also experienced minimal hip pain. While walking, the area along the medial side of the knee also hurts. The entire area feels like it is full of sand to touch.
Avatar f tn about 5 months ago i jumped and landed funny on my left leg it felt like something behind(BACK OF LEG NOT IN THE KNEE)the back of my knee popped and i was in agony for about 15mins the pain wore off but i had to limp for about 2weeks as the pain only came when my leg was fully straightened or fully bentand that lasted for about 3 months it finaly went and last week i joined zumba and at my second zumba lesson i came home and my leg started to hurt when i straighten it fully or bend it funny all
Avatar f tn A few weeks ago my knee began to get random stings (like someone pricked me with a needle) when I would bend my knee. However, it would disappear almost immediately when I straightened it. Recently, I have been having more continuous pain, it feels like I should have a floor burn on my knee but there isn't one. It also has this prickly feeling to it. I saw an orthopedist who simply said the pain was due to overuse of my muscle, however he never asked me to describe the pain.
Avatar f tn Ive recieved some physio since and the pain subsided in those areas but i have been left with chronic pain above my knee in my quadricep area above my kneecap. The muscle is completely bulged with my leg straightened and is proving very painful to walk on and is also painful at rest too with a warm feeling in it but not to the touch. I'd always pointed this out to them but it was pretty much ignored by the consultant. The physio said it maybe the tendon but left it at that.

Avatar m tn It also controls the tracking of the patella when the knee is bent and straightened. It plays an important role in the function of our knee joint. Your question, "I'm afraid that I had torn my medial retiniculum , how could I know? " The medial retinaculum is located within the knee joint; it works with the patella tendon and the quadriceps muscles to help you perform the function of extending your knee.
Avatar f tn Older woman here, developed knee pain 2 months ago. It thankfully went away, but then about a week ago started hurting again, this time in different location, just to the left and medial of my knee cap. Every step is excruciating, only way to describe it. Guess I have meniscus tear? But has anyone experienced this type of horrible pain with Every Step? If so did you find a remedy?
Avatar m tn My left knee has bothered me off and on for over a year but now is a constant pain, worsening at night or longer periods slightly bent during the day. When the leg is straightened, instead of the "crease" showing the inner side of the kneecap, there is a HARD knot almost to the bottom, inside area of the kneecap. The entire knee swells at night, but not lots. Ice and / or heat packs do not take the "lump" down in size but help with the general swelling.
Avatar f tn None of this stuff happens with my other ankle at all. If I wiggle my toes or straighten my foot, there is no pain and no noise. I don't know what this is and everything I have read about the pain in that area does not sound right and most everything says there should be swelling.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I have a question about my knee. It all started when i was playing football, i got cut, incase you don't know what that means, i got hit in the knee from the side.
Avatar m tn When I fold my left feet, I feel a bump on the inner side of the knee. When the foot is stretched I cant see the bump. I did not find it earlier. It must have developed in last few months. It surely was not there. Or at least it did not pained earlier. Even now it does not pain much. Occasionally and very slightly. But it pains (again not too much) when I fold my knee fully. So I avoid folding my left feet fully.
Avatar n tn To keep it short I am going to provide timeline in bullets -Two weeks ago my Tendons/Ligament in shin started hurting (both feet) -A day or two later, my feet would swell and I would wake up with pain -Swelling stayed for a week, now all the swelling went away in feet -Right after swelling on feet disappeared, I developed a red sore/swelling just above ankle on the shin of left leg, this is now slowly going away too -Other joints are now continuing to hurt (knee, fingers, ankle, a bit of shoulde
Avatar f tn My question is has anyone dealt with this specific type of locking before specifically from preforming a baseball like slide like this. The pain is located on the outside of the knee almost feels like where the it band is located on the hinge of the joint. I need to be able to preform this slide and I cannot and have not been able to for the past 2 tears. Anyone ever dealt with something like this before thank you for any help it is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn When I got up this morning I almost fell when I put weight on my left leg. The pain in my left knee was horrible. I tried working through it thinking it was just stiff from sleeping, but it has not improved. It doesn't hurt unless I put weight on it, and then it's an excruciating sharp pain on the right side of the knee only. I have never had anything like this before, even before it was replaced. Any suggestions as to what it may be?
665587 tn?1265946924 Didn't have any symptoms like that. It was just when pretesting for knee surgery my EKG came back abnormal. Had to have a stress test yesterday and all is fine. Anesthesia guys just covering their butts. Hope things got straightened out for you!!
Avatar m tn When I told him that I felt like I had a sprained ankle toward the top of the foot and shin pain , He said it is probably is sprained slight because of the manipulation they did to straighten my leg. Have you ever heard this before ? Is it common? I just hope the pain eases up because quite frankly the pain is worse then before the TKR. Is it possible that he accidently nicked a nerve running from the knee to the top of the foot? If so does that heal on its own.?
1961313 tn?1326290364 Thank you for the info-this helps me very much-the pain is not in the knee ,it's only when I have to bend down on my knee,(putting all the pressure on my knee is when the pains starts) I've looked to see if there is anything pushing out from the knee but I can't see anything.the pain is to the rt side of the knee extending down the leg on the rt side of the shin bone- it feel just like the skin is splitting open,of course I do have fibromyalgia, could be a symptom of that as well?
Avatar m tn I play ice hockey, and over the last 5 years I have had recurring knee issues with my right knee. My right knee clicks and pops a lot when I walk. Now, tha doesn't generally cause pain, but any time this problem does occur, it is accompanied by related issues with it. For example, if I try to get on my knees (happens a lot in hockey) I have a lot of trouble and pain getting up off my right knee. I feel like the shin moves inward.
Avatar m tn s only brought on by direct pressure to the patella when kneeling with my knee at 90 degrees, and the resulting pain is in the lateral aspect of the knee, proximal to the patella.
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar n tn About a week ago, my knee started feeling sharp pain only when pressure is applied. I don't remember what exactly my position was (maybe I kneeled, maybe my leg touched the under side of a table). But anyway, whatever it was that touched my knee felt like a tiny sharp needle instead! There is no swelling or any visible sign. I tried to find out what it was but there was nothing there. I rubbed my knee, sort of poked at it to try and pinpoint where the pain came from.
Avatar f tn My dad also said that my meniscus could be damaged so now of course I am very worried about a blown knee. When you blow out your knee is there always a lot of pain? I have a pretty high pain threshold, and I would say pain was a 5 or 6 out of 10. I just want to know what to expect when I go in to have it looked at. Is there good chance based on my symptoms of having a blown knee? Thanks for reading and if you choose to do so, replying. I appreciate it.
