Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain when knee is extended

knee-pain

Avatar f tn the only thing to give it a glimmer of relief is the knee brace i have to wear now. the pain is on my right knee, it varies where it hurts but lately it's on the right outside part. sometimes when i'm sitting in the butterfly position the pain is in the same place but it extends to the front of my kneecap. i dont know what to do help!!
Avatar f tn The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all. When the pain comes, I have a swelling on the outside of the knee joint about the size of half a golf ball. When I rest the swelling and pain go away within 10 or 20 minutes. This doesn't sound like arthritis to me. A two-fold question, would these symptoms be consistent with AO? Or do these symptoms sound more like damage to the meniscus? Also...

Avatar f tn Each flair up lasts longer and longer and is more and more severe. The pain in my knee is in the front, the inside and the back. It includes swelling, clicking, catching and, strange enough, tingling in the bottom of my foot when my leg is extended all the way. Last year all I did was swing my legs out of bed and stand up when extreme pain shot through my knee. For the next 2 weeks I was limping and the pain was pretty severe. It started 5 years ago with pain going up and down the stairs.
Avatar f tn yeah, I was thinking baker's cyst too and twopack beat me to it! feel along the back of your knee (where it bends) and if there is a small bump that isn't usually there, you got one. I get them and sometimes bilaterally and they look like golf balls under the skin but no one has ever given me a good explanation other than its the fluid leaking from the front and it has to have somewhere to go.
Avatar f tn I have an 18 year old daughter who has been suffering from joint pain for about 3 and a half years now. Her pain started in one knee and gradually over time has extended to her other knee, hips, ankles, shoulders, and lower back. She has seen many doctors, has had x-rays, MRIs, and one arthroscopy surgery on her knee. She has soft cartilage in her knees. She tried taking glucosamine but found no relief after 6 months so she stopped taking it. She cries to me almost every night.
Avatar n tn I hurt my knee playing in the floor w/my 2-year old grandson 6 weeks ago. I was crawling & my leg went to the side but it didn't hurt badly. My joints over extended somewhat. The pain & swelling is on the inside of the knee, cannot bear my weight. I self-treated for a while (brace, heat, ibuprofin, worked in a restaurant (bar tending, waitress) and the pain got worse as time passed. I have been to the doctor, had an MRI which revealed swelling & bruising next to the bone.
Avatar f tn Does it actually improve the pain or is it too tight that it magnifies the pain? Check to see if it leaves indentations on your skin. Also check the color of your skin. If it is starting to look blue, you could be losing circulation already in this area. You should be able to move around comfortably. Once you have worn the compression sleeve, try moving around. Can you actually run or walk comfortably while wearing the sleeve? Does it impede movement?
Avatar f tn Older woman here, developed knee pain 2 months ago. It thankfully went away, but then about a week ago started hurting again, this time in different location, just to the left and medial of my knee cap. Every step is excruciating, only way to describe it. Guess I have meniscus tear? But has anyone experienced this type of horrible pain with Every Step? If so did you find a remedy?
728965 tn?1266373645 I was just cleaning up my bedroom this morning, and noticed the pain. I was nearly to tears. When I touched the back of my knee around the tendon, it hurt significantly more. It's been 6 hours with the same pain, taken all I have available to take. Now I've begun to have pain followed by a moment of tingling from the back of my knee to my feet. My foot even acts like it's asleep.
Avatar m tn I flinched and extended my leg and it snapped back. It has happened every time since then when i bend my knee. The pain is EXCRUCIATING. My doctor is out of town until next Saturday and I only feel comfortable with him. I've tried almost every other orthopedic surgeon in my area and I am dissatisfied with their level of professionalism and helpfulness. I'm also traveling on Friday so I most probably won't be able to see my doctor.
Avatar m tn Spring and summer are where trampoline injuries peak,37% of injuries are children under 6 years old ,83% occur when there is more than one child on the trampoline. It sounds like a sprain to the knee ligaments and may take a few weeks. I think it may depend on whether its torn or stretched 2-6 weeks healing time .I think a visit to the Doctor is in order ..
Avatar m tn I have tons of knee pain!!! I also have pain in my feet (similar to plantar faciitis) and hip flexors. My knees hurt the most, though. I often felt this knee pain even as a child. (We called it "growing pains." Also, beginning at age 12 or so I would feel achey knee pain if I stood for a couple hours at a time.) My knees are also hyper-extended.
4817742 tn?1359564366 I have to wear a back brace, use tens machine every day, had emgs, mylograms, you name it its been done and my knee has gotten worse and the mri says High grade fissure at the median ridge of the patella with trace subjacent subchondral marrow edema, and thin medial patellar plica. I have not worked for a year because of this accident and the knee is getting worse. I saw a orthopedic dr and he said lose weight and physical therapy to strengthen my knee its because my leg has become weak.
Avatar n tn Do you have access to a gym? Or is this for at home exercises without any equipment?
Avatar f tn I just got mine, and so far all they have done is kept me awake at ngiht and caused tremendous swelling in my knee. Rep says it is because my thigh is retaining water, and the pressure is sending it to my knee. What? Any advice? My big problem is swelling in the knee and limited ROM bending the knee. I am 8 weeks post surgery and have 102 degrees bending at Physical Therapy and 3 degrees from being extended flat.
Avatar m tn When I fold my left feet, I feel a bump on the inner side of the knee. When the foot is stretched I cant see the bump. I did not find it earlier. It must have developed in last few months. It surely was not there. Or at least it did not pained earlier. Even now it does not pain much. Occasionally and very slightly. But it pains (again not too much) when I fold my knee fully. So I avoid folding my left feet fully.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Dvt behind my left knee in October. Was put on Xarelto for 3 months, the day after I finished this course I was sent back into A & E, where I was diagnosed with Dvt again. I was told to stay on the Xarelto until my check up in 3 weeks. When my check up came, they admitted me into hospital and took me off Xarelto and put me on Innohep injections for another 3 months. I felt these were working great but in last week I can feel a twinge behind my knee again.
