Avatar f tn Hello first of thanks for the help this site rocks :) So i have been having some really bad knee pain for about 3 years i just had a baby and it hurts so bad when I'm carrying him up and down our stairs. he is only 4 months old, but it fills like my legs are going to buckle from underneath me. they usually always hurt but more when I'm walking up and down the stairs. at night i drench my knees in icy hot.
Avatar f tn At first, it was just a little sore when I bent it--like to bike or go up and down stairs. By this morning, even just walking around caused pain. I feel it along either side of my knee and around the back, not really in/around my kneecap. It's a dull ache that turns sharp when the knee is bent a certain way. I've found that bending it at a 90 degree angle (like to sit down) doesn't hurt as much as bending it to say, a 45 degree angle (like to go up and down the stairs).
Avatar f tn now that ive lost 82 lbs, im having more knee pain than before the surgery. I would occasionally have knee pain when I was extremely overweight whenever going up & down stairs. Now that I ve lost the weight, my knees hurt more often & I have to be careful when stepping up or down stairs, or bending over to pick something up off the floor. Is this because im not working out at all? Im not physically active at all & im wodering if this knee pain is because ive lost a lot of muscle?
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks or so ago I got up outta my chair to go upstairs and thought i was just sitting wrong because it hurt a little going up the stairs, but coming down the stairs it felt like the inside of my knee was just on fire and immediately swollen. i ended up dropping everything and almost falling down the stairs, being a mother with very limited transportation i just loaded up on tylenol and rode it out hoping i just pulled something...
Avatar m tn You know I might have noticed some really minor lock up. I'll pay closer attention. I started feeling it when going down stairs about 10 days ago, but that only lasted a few days. I don't feel it when going down stairs now. No recent twisting injury. How urgently do you think I need to see an orthopedist? Could I wait a month until I'm not on vacation? Is there anything I can do in the meanwhile?

Avatar m tn Most of the time when I am walking around it feels like normal, however there are times that I feel excruiating pain in and around the knee. I have noticed most times it occurs is when i am bending deep with my knee I.e. getting into my car, going down stairs fast, bending down to pick something off the ground. However it does not always happen when I am doing these activities. When the pain starts the only way I have seen to relief the pain is to straighten out my leg.
Avatar f tn t done anything (knowingly) to injure it. The pain is below my knee cap where it meets the shin bone. It only hurts when in motion...walking or using stairs, or anytime I have my weight on it. I have to limp because the pain hurts so much. Some days are worse than others; some times there is very little pain. When sitting down there is no pain, and I can move my leg around with no pain while sitting. My knee pops occasionally but nothing new.
Avatar n tn your dilema sounds very similar to mine. I also loose my knee quite frequenty. I haven't seen a doctor yet, though. it took a bit of searching to find anything that sounds similar to my situation. I only have one question. Does it cause you a lot of pain. it doesn't hurt when my knee goes out. I does feel really weird. Mostly I'm embarassed especially at work. My co workers are starting to mimic my little bob as i catch myself before i fall.
Avatar n tn Hi the best thing to do is have a talk to your Family Doctor he/she should do there best to help ease your pain , it may come to surgery , Please take care , x
Avatar n tn It seems to run along the edge of the knee cap. At first the pain was only when I walked up and down stairs and had to put all my weight on one knee but now I can hardly extend my knee without getting sharp pains on the inside of the knee. Also, not sure if this is relevant, but there is a painless bruise on the middle of my knee right below my knee cap and I have no idea where it came from. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn He is concerned when he takes his braces off of a swelling/bump on the lower outside part of his knee cap. Coming down the stairs Saturday his knee gave way and he fell the last couple of steps down the stairs, this is worrying him. If I understand you correctly my husband knee could have arthritis in it and his x-ray and MRI would not show anything. Then how can they diagnose this condition? What questions should we ask the doctor? I look forward to your answers.
1187071 tn?1279369698 Hello everyone I hope your doing well and had a good weekend. We moved into our first house at the end of December so we haven't been here that long, I LOVE everything about this house and I love having a home of our own that we don't have to ask if we can do this and that. But I HATE the stairs, I don't mind walking up and down them but it does cause more pain to my face but I am use to that.
Avatar m tn Hello, the last few months, ive had pain above my knee cap, if i press on the muscle or tendor that seems to attach to the top of the knee cap, it is quite sore right where it connects to the knee cap, and when walking its ok, but stairs it really is sore, sitting down and getting up, kneeling. Ive tried applying heat to it, then stretching, then applying ice going for walks, stretching, seems to give temporary releif.
Avatar f tn I began experiencing pain in my left outer knee when climbing stairs. About every other day for about a year, I was climbing up and down stairs,2 to 4 times each, equivalant to about three stories.I fell about 2 feet off a platform at work and was jarred quite a bit, it hurt for awhile then the pain went away. I now have left groin pain that radiates to the outer left knee. The groin pain is constant with a burning sensation. No problems when lifting leg straight up.
Avatar f tn Lateral knee pain and after walking awhile the back of knee hurts. Pain worst when bend knee or go up and down stairs. Pain always there just worst when bend it. Pain has woke me up at night if sleep with knee bent. Xray snd MRI normal so orthopedic said PT and if pain continues come back in a month. PT has me in tears. Should I get second opinion could MRI been read wrong. Help me i feel crazy and feel that the pain is in my head.
Avatar f tn I plan on attending a Physical Therapist this summer once I can afford it. Anyways this brings me to my knee. Sometimes when I step down on it, like on stairs or even getting up from a chair too fast or just walking normally, I will feel a sharp (almost like electrocution) pain throughout the entire kneecap area. It is enough to make it buckle before I catch myself. After the chiropractor, it has been happening around 2 or so times a week which is way more than it used to.
Avatar f tn For the next 2 weeks I was limping and the pain was pretty severe. It started 5 years ago with pain going up and down the stairs. I saw an orthopedic and he told me it was overuse. Just 5 months ago I went to see him again and he ran an MRI and an X-ray. The X-ray showed nothing and the MRI showed thinning of the cartilage. It somtimes feels like something gets in the way in the front of my knee and then stepping down on it is extremely painful.
Avatar f tn Ever since then it grinds and pops like a car going over gravel, sore aches when idle, pain when bearing weight (going up/down stairs etc) and when lying down and bending the knee. Is this really all just down to ‘slight wear to the meniscus’? How should I go about it now as I really need to do something as I can’t progress in my job if it remains like this? For that reason, I really am open for any treatment options. Thank you so much and I hope I’ve posted in the right place!
Avatar f tn Had RK microfracture & LK OATS. Somewhat able to do things with tolerable pain level. Started back with the floor pilaties & yoga. Too much stretching I guess. I started where you are with similiar discomforts. Then started to hurt behind the knee and on the lateral side. Now...I can't stand without both knee fatique and pain, i can't walk without pain. It has ruined me! I'm walking with braces and oh boy if i have to go up or down stairs, HELP~!
Avatar n tn It occasionally hurts when decelerating, and definitely when going down stairs. I got an MRI today and am waiting the results, but does this sound like a tear? I know it's not large since the knee hasn't locked, but I do feel a small pop on that side of my knee when I straighten it. Thanks for any thoughts!
Avatar n tn Sorry, I just felt a super sharp pain in the back left of my knee, and something kind of gave away maybe an hour ago. I can't put any pressure on my knee or straighten it, and am elevating and icing it. Before when my knee has locked, there hasn't been pain. It's been almost eight weeks since my original injury. I can't get a hold of my doctor right now.
Avatar m tn I was putting in padded flooring in my home gym for about 4 hours. Since then I've had pain in my right knee only when kneeling on my right knee (like when tying shoes). It's to the side of the knee and feels like something is being stretched laterally at first, before I get a sharp pain that feels like it's stinging/tingly. It is not completely on the side of my knee, but in the softer area to the side of my knee cap.
