Knee pain when flexing quad

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain when flexing quad

knee-pain

Avatar f tn There was no pop or immediate/major swelling, but there was pain on the inside of the knee. I had a few episodes of the knee giving out and swelling eventually increased so 2 days after I went to an orthopedic doctor. He confirmed my suspicion that I had an MCL sprain, but said I may have also injured my ACL and meniscus.
Avatar n tn I was showing someone how hard I hit something and not thinking hit my Vastus Medialis Quad muscle (the inner quad muscle to the inside of the knee) pretty hard. Over the next few days I didn't have much pain or discomfort but by the 3rd day I began to have pain in the Pes anserine Bursa below the knee. Then over the next week the knee started to get tighter and I started to to hear more popping and swelling around the knee.
Avatar m tn I took it easy for a couple of days and the swelling subsided, but now I have extreme knifing pain radiating up from my knee through my quadricep muscle when I bend my knee while sitting/squatting or lowering my body (to sit in a chair, for example) What is wrong? Anybody?
Avatar n tn It is still sore and a little swollen. The pain is on the top left (inside) where the quad connects to the knee (when bent it feels like the top of the bone to the inside of the knee). It hurts to bend my knee after sitting for a long period of time and sometimes need to help it bend. To straighten out the knee doesn't hurt but when I tighten my quad, it is a little sore. There is some bruising on the inner part of the quad. I am hoping it is just a bad bruise and nothing serious.
Avatar n tn when I do straight leg raises and contract my knee I sometimes encounter that sharp knife pain in knee. Also my knee locks up after doing quad sets and leg raises, Ive been told cause of the weak quadricep that is why? Anyone else out there with this?
Avatar m tn Now pain located vicinity of lateral collateral ligament and behind knee. Sharp pain behind knee upon straightening/standing. Also pain behind knee hen bending (I.e. Getting in an out of car, drivers side). Flexing foot to put shoe on cause sharpe pain around lateral collateral ligament. Knee slightly swollen an somewhat warm. Any ideas.
Avatar m tn Just making sure, when you say "flexing the knee and hip to the 90/90 position and rotating the hip internally produces pain and popping," do you mean lifting the knee up and bringing it towards the chest and rotating it inward? Do you think the wrap eliminating the pain eliminates the chance of a labral tear?
Avatar m tn My second problem is pain above the knee cap, on the very lower part of the quads. I assume this to be the quad tendon. I feel alot of pain here when i squat down more than 45 degrees. It is a sharp pain, and makes crouching down almost impossible For a couple days the symptoms will not be as severe. But the next day they may be terrible. both problems are slightly better with stretching and the exercises, but only temporarily (like 10 - 20 mins).
Avatar n tn I have had a MRI on my knee and Quad both coming out negative and not even showing fluid. I have seen 2 doctors and neither knows what is going on. I know something isn't right as this hurts constantly. I have tried physical therapy for 4 weeks and strengthening and not doing anything as well and nothing has worked. Always is the same constant dull pain whether sitting or standing. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
Avatar m tn Hi Rob - Great - I can't wait to hear from a dr that "everything looks fine" when the shooting pain from the ankle to the knee tells me it's not. The pain level varies but most of the time it's a 10. My right tibial plateau was fractured 9-4-2004. After the external fixator was removed, a plate & 2 screws were put on (into?) my knee.
Avatar n tn He is 15. Dr Says the pain is from the quad being weak. We are hoping the pain will go away when the quad gains more strength.
Avatar m tn And for the record it seems my knee-area problem has 95% gone away. I am no longer aware of any stiffness and only notice a very slight twinge when squatting down. Yay, the body is a wonderful thing, but it didn't half take its time to heal.
Avatar n tn I have seen 2 doctors and gotten an 2 MRI, one on my knee and one on my quad (both negative) and also have been doing physical therapy. Therapy isn't helping at all. I know I just need to get the swelling out of there but can't and don't know what this is. Everything I try to do whether it be rest it or use it more it is the same. I would have thought a bone bruse or something would have shown on the mri but nothing showed.
2115734 tn?1334546847 For X number of months (where X can be 3, or 4, or 5 or maybe even 6), I have no physical pain in the RIGHT knee. When OA (osteoarthritis) physical pain starts under the kneecap of the RIGHT knee, I do quad sets for Y number of consecutive days (where Y can be 4, or 5, or 6 or 7 consecutive days) and the physical pain ends again for X number of months. I'd like to swim but know that with no external support around the RIGHT knee there's physical pain while swimming.
Avatar m tn After doing some research I found that the closest thing to what I am experiencing is jumpers knee except I am not feeling a lot of pain right below the knee cap just mild pain and discomfort. I am sixteen and play a lot of basketball. I dont know if the pain will worsen or even if I have it. Just some input would help. Also I sprained my knee 5 months ago. Don't know of that has anything to do with it but just tell me what you think.
Avatar f tn About a month later my wrists started to feel better, but I started getting the same pain in my ankles, and my left knee. It really hurts alot when I walk or have to lift my knee. My knee almost feels swollen. I have never heard of a joint pain that moves around I am so lost. I am tired of taking Ibprofin and sleeping on a heating pad! I went to my primary DR. He took blood, x-rays and urine, but they all came back normal.
Avatar m tn Still experiencing quad pain laterally and across the mid quad.. Possibly lingering tourniquet pain? I am doing all kinds of stretches including IT band stretches, calf stretches etc. and all my other PT everyday a couple of times each day . Thanks for your help and opinion Dr. Mathur.
Avatar n tn The problem is I feel severe pain at the back of my knee any time I try to walk. Can any medication help alleviate or stop this pain. What can help me wriggle my right toes again?
Avatar f tn No not like I should. It goes as far as my knee, but most of the time , the pain is in my upper thigh. It just started 2 days ago. Thank you so much for responding. I went to seethe doctor about it , and they think that I pulled a muscle. But I am not sure if it is a pulled muscle or not. It kept me awake last night.

Avatar n tn I recently had an MRI on my knee due to pain and swelling increasing over several months. It shows a complex tear of the medial meniscus involving the posterior horn, body and anterior junction. It also shows 2 ganglions 1 is small, described as-- a peritendinous involving the proximal popliteus musculotendinous junction, the other is described as -- extensive septated lobulated pericruciate ganglion measuring 3.7 cm along the posterior border of the PCL.
Avatar f tn Still experiencing dull and occasional sharp pain in knee and quad area from a fractured femur 2yrs ago Just came from my surgeon in tears cause he basically called me a liar - told me wasn't normal for me to still be experiencing pain. Bone had healed so no reason for me to still hurt. I do pretty much on a daily basis, not unbearable pain but it's there - am just tired and frustrated.
