I damaged my medial ligaments(slight) 4 to 5 months ago felt fine after a couple of weeks but have just recently been experiencing a severe sharp pain mainly i would say towards the outside and in the back of my right knee but only when i bring my heal to my bum ( no pain at all until it nearly at it fullest ). Not really experienced any other pain ect on the odd occasion knee felt like giving way when fully locked out . I have no problem running gym ect .
I have been having bad knee pain recently. I injured it 20 years ago and when it rains i have always had mild pain, but recently its been almost unbearable. Do you think i've injured something or Is there something I can take for the pain. I've tried Tylenol and Ibuprofen and neither work. Please advise.
Over the past 4 days I have been experiencing pain/Throbbing in my right knee. I do not recall doing any activities which may have damaged it in anyway. The pain feels like it comes from underneath my knee cap, slightly to the right. It throbbs when I am sat down, and if i move my knee left or right whilst my foot is on the floor I get a very sharp shooting pain which makes me jump.
I think it is just from wear and tear of playing sports and dancing when I was a kid (I'm now 32). The pain started below my knee, and is now accompanied with pain shooting down my shin. It also now feels as if something from the top of my knee is pulling as well. I am hurting, and I don't know what else to do. I am also taking Naperson (sp?), which is not helping. I can't take anything more than that, because pain meds knock me on my butt & I don't want that.
I did not go back for another cotizone shot but when the cold weather gets here this year and the knee pain starts up again I will be going for the Synvesc. - Good luck.
All my knee pain started when i was in gymnastics with the cracking and swelling. So when i was 14 that's when i had my first knee surgery i had a plica i think that's how you spell it, and some cartilage damage.
I left it on for about 1 hour and when I removed everything, I did a ‘test walk’…not only was my knee not stiff, and the swelling was 95% GONE…all within the 1 hour treatment!!!!! I could walk with 100% less discomfort and this was 10x more effective than the Cortisone or three Hydraluronic Acid injections I had received in a two months period.
I have resigned that I will just have this pain and need to manage it with ibuprofen. In the last three months I have however been having a new more severe pain in my left knee. It hurts pretty much constantly, but worse during physical activity, and hurts like a bruise when pushed on. I decided to see my pcp to get some answers because the left knee has really been holding me back and too painful to ignore.
Four weeks later, I am constantly getting a sharp (knife stabbing pain) on the inside of my knee with a constant cold feeling in side the knee even though my skin feels warm. I have been taking alleve and pain medication as instructed by the doctor. The pain does not go away and the doc seems to think that I just need to go to physical therapy. I went to therapy and after a minute and a half on a recombant bike, i was in tears in pain and asked to stop.
When my knee cap and elbow joint get cold they hurt a lot, like i fell hard on them. ibprofen just dulls it for a bit. any ideas?
Did you double the dose because you were not getting pain relief? If so I think most of us have taken a larger dose at times when our pain was bad. When I did that and of course told my physician she increased my dose. But your circumstances may be completely different that mine. I am so sorry you are in such pain. Will this pain last for a long time??? Or is this a healing injury. I don't mean to be nosey. I'm just trying to suggest other ideas if needed. Cold turkey is tough!!!
Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
My knees pop all the time and if I don't pop them they hurt, it's like I relieve pressure when I do. They are extremely sensitive, I cannot get on them due to the pain it causes. If I bump them into something sometimes that can sit me down. Going up and down stairs is a chore, especially going down and when its cold, rainy or any bad weather its even worse. Could you give me some inclination of what I may be looking at?
Also, I also experienced a sharp pain during my injury. I do not know if this applies to you however you can tell when your knee buckles that the sharp pain is due to the tearing of the ACL. This does not only happen in sports but it can happen in normal daily activities. Why? Because it takes a certain position and a certain amount of strength, and the criteria for it doesn't necessarily just apply to sports.
If I sit on a chair for a few minutes, then attempt to move my right knee, or stand up, I will experience excruciating pain all along my joint. It's mostly under my kneecap. My left knee is perfectly fine. The thing is, though, that it isn't because of long periods of inactivity. If I wake up in the morning and sit on a chair for only a few minutes, the pain will be just as bad as it would be during the rest of the day.
Although the pain doesn't show up when I poke or touch my knee, I can duplicate the pain when my knee is slightly bent and I press below the knee cap and rub to the painward side while still pressing. I almost thought it was a chipped bone at first, but now (because of the above) I think it is a collection of fluid and the pain is from the fluid trying to migrate to an area of muscle or tissue that doesn't want to separate. Some of you may be aware of how powerful hydraulic pressure can be.
I have a fusion at L5-S1 that failed to fix my pain problem. I was unable to walk, sit, or stand when it started. My legs just ache something terrible most of the time. Last night was unbearable. I just finished a steroid pack yesterday. I had to get up in the middle of the night to take pain meds and adjust my stimulator. It is cold so my arthritis is acting up in my knees, as well. Lately my toes have been not getting blood flow and turning white.
I had total knee replacement surgery 10 weeks ago and am still experiencing significant knee pain, consisting of stiffness and alot of pain in the knee. The pain wakes me up at night. I am going to Physical Therapy 3 times a week and I still do alot of therapy myself at home. I walk, and try to go about my daily routine, but the pain is still there,, some days worse than others. I also had a three disc fusion done in January,, 2007.
I've had every sensation from water dripping to water splashing, like when you feel the light spray from the hose, cold sensation, crawling and tingling, burning, cold etc..They are very disturbing. I've had them from head to toe. I never could tell whether there was really water there or not. Most of the time it was just paresthesias.
Taking potassium or eating bananas should help with knee pain and muscle cramps. My tail bone hurts too but I found if I change position or chairs frequently then it isn't as bad. Walking also helps me.
When I dove, I noticed I was going to land on my shoulder so I swung my knee under so all my weight transfered directly down on my knee. It didn't hurt until the next day when I tried to get out and run. My whole knee feels like someone is hitting it with a bat and now whenever I twist it I get a sharp pain along the inside of my knee. Any help?
It seems to happen if I have been kneeling, even in church. I never know when it will occur. Sometimes I get a strange mild cold sensation in the knee or occasionally, a quick sharp pain. I am not having any trouble walking, and I do not have constant pain when it happens.
Prepatellar bursitis, patellar subluxation, knee cap dislocation all can lead to pain directly over the knee cap.Rest, antiinflammatory medications, application of ice to the knee all are very important for reducing the symptoms. If the symptoms persist or are severe it is best to see an orthopaedician.I hope it helps. Best luck and kind regards!
Monday night I was sleeping and I guess I went to readjust, I was rolling to my right side, when my right knee popped out of place, my hip to femur where normal position but my knee to my foot where angeled to the right. I lifted my lower leg and my knee slowly rolled back into place. I usually have this issue with my hips and elbows popping out of place or locking up but that never hurts or immobilizes me like this did.
This is essentially a region that should de dealt collectively by you orthopedician, a pain management specialist and a physiotherapist. Meanwhile cold sponging and NSAIDS may help relieve pain in most cases. Take care!
I can take a day or so and stay off my leg and only get up when needed. That does not seem to help. I have used cold packs and taken soaks in a tub of warm water. Nothing seems to work. After a couple days of the pain, it will go away. Then all of a sudden it comes back. I even have swelling around the knee cap when I get these issues. Do you have any possible idea of what might be wrong? What can I do to make it easier to walk on? I work a 40 hour week.
