Avatar f tn I stand (even for a long time) or walk. It only hurts when bent and the pain gets worse if I am sitting with my legs bent for a long time. I can also hear/feel a quiet click sound when bending the knee. There has been no swelling, redness, heat and other signs of inflammation. At my job I stand for 8 hours and walk and after working two days the pain and discomfort were lessened.
Avatar m tn Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post. The knee is a complex joint. There are numerous conditions including structural issues that effect the knee. Your pain could be from arthritis or a patella problem. Some imagining will probably be required to determine the source of your pain. I am sorry I cannot be more specific. If you offer more information we may be able to provide you with additional information.
Avatar f tn Hello, I've just started having pain on the outside of my right knee I was playing boo with my son when I first felt a sharp pain, over the week each time I kneel down I feel a hard throbbing pain, when rubbed it throbs and also when bent, when the leg is straight it's fine! My knee clicks now and again and when I feel the knee cap it feels like it's grinding, does anyone have any ideas what this could be, my partner seems to think it could be my cartilage!
Avatar f tn I have the same problem and its only my right knee as well. Like if im sleeping and its been bent for too long it hurts like hell when i straighten my leg. Anytime i sit for too long with it bent it starts hurting soooo bad. Ive been putting icy hot on it and it definitely helps. Hope yours feels better soon!
Avatar m tn This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor. Other possibilities are bursitis (inflammation of fluid filled sac over joints), tendonitis (inflammation of cords joining muscles to bones) or due to weakness of patellar bone.
Avatar n tn If I leave my knee bent too long It starts to ache. then I try to straighten it out it hurts a bit then I feel and hear a pop. Then the pain and ache goes away. What could this be?
Avatar n tn I have pain in the back of my knee when it's bent. I have no pain when it's straight and I'm walking. What could be causing it?
Avatar m tn Actually this began with my weird habit that I start pacing up and down my room when I have to learn something. For my exams that ended yesterday, I have prepping for a long time and that meant slow walking inside my house for hours everyday for over a month. But from yesterday I am having sharp pain in the outside portion of my left knee cap. It is fine if the knee is at rest or folded, but everytime I try to straighten my leg or walk, I feel the pain in the knee.
Avatar f tn But a few days later, my left knee started to hurt. At first, it was just a little sore when I bent it--like to bike or go up and down stairs. By this morning, even just walking around caused pain. I feel it along either side of my knee and around the back, not really in/around my kneecap. It's a dull ache that turns sharp when the knee is bent a certain way.
Avatar n tn It is still sore and a little swollen. The pain is on the top left (inside) where the quad connects to the knee (when bent it feels like the top of the bone to the inside of the knee). It hurts to bend my knee after sitting for a long period of time and sometimes need to help it bend. To straighten out the knee doesn't hurt but when I tighten my quad, it is a little sore. There is some bruising on the inner part of the quad. I am hoping it is just a bad bruise and nothing serious.
1748105 tn?1314473206 I have to kinda drag my leg from the hip and the inside of my big toe slides on the floor as my knee turns out. When I try to put my weight on it to step with my right leg it pulls and hurts like the musckes in the back of my calf and thigh are ripping. I haven't been able to come up with a name for this. I read about flexor spasticity and foot drop in the health pages. Could this be some combination?
Avatar m tn For the past few months i have been experiencing slight calf pain when having my leg bent when sitting down for long periods. The more bent they are the more niggling the pain. When i straighten my leg its fine. The last couple of days though the vein in both my calfs going from my achilles to my knee has been showing as if its a bruise but its in the exact same place on either leg. Could this be DVP or do you think its scieta (please excuse the spelling!) Your help would be appreciated.
1317473 tn?1329245903 hey, thank you for replying, it started out of nowhere about 8months ago, it locked when it was bent when i was asleep, i woke up with dreadful pain and couldnt straighten it, after about 30mins of massage and wiggling my toes i managed to straighten it and since then it always happens if my leg is bent for too long, when walking it feels like its going to give way and if its straight and i go to turn onto my side it feels like something is going snap and peirce my skin, about 3months after my k
1571284 tn?1295706102 I have pain that gerenates from the side of my knee and increases when it is bent but has no weight on it...what is the cause?
Avatar m tn And for the record it seems my knee-area problem has 95% gone away. I am no longer aware of any stiffness and only notice a very slight twinge when squatting down. Yay, the body is a wonderful thing, but it didn't half take its time to heal.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I force myself to painfully stretch my leg till its straight, and somewhere in there something pops. The majority of the pain goes as soon as it pops. But it still has some residual pain for a few minutes after. This has been happening at the least one time a day, and at the most 4 times a day. Even happens at night when I flop the wrong way. :( It's been going on for two weeks now. I didn't really have a significant injury to cause it.
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar f tn I am 17 years old and when I was 14 I had ACL, MCL & LCL reconstructive surgery, along with a torn artery. So painful it took forever to heal. I went to physio blah blah blah then I had to get a second surgery to remove a calcium build up and remove scar tissue to help my knee bend. My surgeon said I will always have a bad knee but i didn't think it'd get this bad. It just aches and aches and it clicks when I go up stairs. And I can't bend it all the way.
Avatar n tn The combination of a direct blow to the patella (kneecap) and the symptoms of stair pain and pain when sitting for long periods of time are classic. This is sometimes called "dashboard knee", it occurs in motor vehicle accidents when the knee hits against the dashboard. It's unclear whether this is related to your current problems, even though the symptoms are the same.
Avatar f tn My daughter has been complaining of pain behind her knee it is when she has her knee bent for some time, if she rides on my shoulders, when I lift her down she can't walk and cries with pain, can anyone give me me some advise on what this could be
Avatar n tn So this second injury only made matters worse. The burning, when the knee is bent, like when your sitting in a chair burns so bad my eyes starts to tear. I think you got the idea. Please tell me what the injury is and what is injured within the knee up towards thigh but Not that far up. Please advise.
Avatar f tn but i think it will show more on x ray if my knee was bent coz it feels like it hides when my knee is straight.. and sometimes i can also hear and feel like a snap, like a " tick" sound. I hope someone can explain to me what you think it is?? I would appreciate it... thanks for the time and I apologize with my grammar coz im an asian not so fluent in English lol.... I'll be waiting for you explanations, thank you...
Avatar n tn I do not but am a physical therapist that had a patient experiencing this recently. She had a 2 year history of chronic headaches with no diagnosis despite multiple scans. She was sent to me for thigh muscle strain that appeared the morning after sitting crosslegged on the floor painting. Pain initially was in her left thigh and groin then progressed to involve the right thigh and groin.
