Avatar m tn I have constant knee pain, swelling and my knee gives away. The pain is primarily on the inner side of the knee. I have had several kneesurgeries, one in the last 6months that was supposed to fix all these issues. I have been told its just arthritis, however after surgery i was told no signs of arhritis. a physical therapist told me i have a loose mcl. what to do?
Avatar f tn My doctor has referred me to specialists (still waiting, UK hospitals take a long time) due to something showing up on my knee X-rays that they done in the hospital while I was treated.
Avatar f tn Never did he give me any painkillers just told me to rest an gave me some time off work and told me to take paracetamol (yeah cause that works). but the pain has spread to my arms and legs, mainly wrists and knee. The doctor did a blood test an noticed my vitamin d was very low at 17. He gave me 20k tablets and had to take 5 a day for 3 days. Hes sending me for an x-ray on my knee as he suspects a hair line fracture.
Avatar f tn A couple weeks ago I was cleaning and I got down on my knees to clean up a spill and when I was getting up I heard a pop that sounded like a gun going off and it hurt now if I bend my knee it catches and I have to force it to straighten when it straightens it makes a thunk kinda sound and the knee looks like it shifts. I hope this makes sense I have no insurance right now but hope to have it in the next 30 to 60 days but if anyone can give me a hint on what could be wrong I would be so greatful.
Avatar m tn The other leg is perfectly fine in those positions, suffering from neither the stiffness nor the pain in those positions. There is never any swelling in the problem knee. I have some crepitis in both knees but have had this for 10 years with no pain (basically some crackling noise when going up stairs).
Avatar m tn Hi. Thanks for the advice. My knee pain has subsided since my bi-lateral release, but the pain above the knee upto my hip continues. I have been directed down the route of 'snapping hip syndrome' - with IT Band / TFL catching the greater trochanter during the gait cycle of walking / running. I have a new programme this week to strengthen specific muscle groups to try and prevent this happening. Will take a few months to know results.
Avatar f tn I never know where the pain is going to be when I wake up. It has been so sever in my arm that I couldn't move it, had to take cortisone. Has been in my neck, foot, knee, eyes and finger so far. The finger was the only spot that showed obvious inflammation. I am 63 and I do have arthritis. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn The doctor may decide whether you may need to have the bad knee xrayed to see what is going on in the knee. He may prescribe you with a different pain relief medication and/or an anti-inflammatory. Not everyone is suited to Ibuprofen and this can cause swelling with oedema also needs to be taken with food or with a medication to protect the stomach. I do hope that you are managing to keep your sugar levels under control. It is important so that you do not get any further nerve damage.
Avatar n tn I read your note to josh 344 and I think that you may have helped me with my knee pain. Since total knee replacement of left knee 2 and a half years ago I have suffered chroniv knee pain worse than before surgery also not being able to flex more than 65 as the knee becomes so tight and the pain extremley bad. On x-ray shows a slighyly tilted knee cap with some bone on metal.
575947 tn?1220742187 I think you should see another doctor no matter what. In that much pain, you definately need some sort of pain management and hopefully, you can find it without opiates. Good luck...
634733 tn?1316625992 In the meantime I pay privately to see a sports physiotherapist who tells me I have a torn cartilage in my left knee and micro tears in the right knee, agreeing with the GP about overuse. She informs me that the surgeon will do nothing for at least 6 months because of my age. After 4 months they both agree to refer me.
7486852 tn?1410352184 When I was around 18 I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my left knee, but now I'm almost 25 and I am having a lot more bone pain but the most extreme is my knees but now I have the same pain, popping, cracking in my hips, ankles, wrists, lower ribcages with a bump on the right, shoulder blades, neck, spine, and my tailbone hurts pretty bad as well, oh and the bone in the side of my foot.. i haven't been back to a specialists since the diagnosis and I have no insurance.
Avatar m tn My symptoms are numbness and pins and needles that run on the outside thigh down to the knee, and a lot of groin pain. The more I stand and walk, the worse it gets. I find the only way to relieve it is to lie down. Sometimes I will bend my back (like touching the toes) to relieve the pressure. You do not get (as far as I know) pain on the inner thigh from meralgia parasthetica. I have never experienced it from this condition.
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
Avatar n tn Hello sarabear and welcome to the Pain Forum: I think what you're experiencing is called Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome) The knee is a complex joint. It includes the articulation between the tibia and femur (leg and thigh) and the patella (knee cap) and femur. The most common knee problems in running relate to what is called the "patellofemoral complex". This consists of the quadriceps, knee cap and patellar tendon.
Avatar n tn SO I AM HAVING PRETTY EXTREME PAIN ONLY WHEN KNEEING ON LEFT KNEE--USUALLY DOMINATE KNEE THAT I ALWAYS KNEE ON WITH ALL MY WIEGHT ON FIRST. DOESNT HURT TO WALK ON OR BEND OR ANY OTHER MOTION. RECENTLY I CAN FEEL SENSATIONS FROM A LITTLE BELOW MY KNEE LIKE "PINS AND NEEDLES" BUT VERY SLIGHT. I CAN LIGHTLY TOUCH BELOW CENTER OF KNEE AND FEEL SAME PAIN WITH VERY LITTLE PRESSURE LIKE A SLIGHT RUB.
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
634733 tn?1316625992 Since that relapse and the arthroscopy I had on the arthritic knee, I have pain, stiffness and all sorts of sx in both my legs and now pain in both knee joints, one hip and my back also gets involved sometimes, this is my main concern currently as I cannot work out what is causing what!!! Avatar m tn I had knee pain in outer side of knee while playing soccer. I took serratiopeptidase + diclofenac potassium capsule by doctors advice. I took rest for 2 weeks but when I started playing it started again. Please advice.
Avatar f tn If the pain comes on bending the knee, then it could be due to Patellofemoral syndrome or runners knee. This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained while playing), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint.
Avatar m tn When you are, then you could figure out the perfect suitable treatment method by just going through adequate knee joint prognosis. Knee pain can be due to various situations and might result in serious soreness inside the knee if not treated. The soreness won't only have an effect on your body, but it might also affect your way of life. Knee pain is caused by many reasons, including the aging process, pain through a car crash, and intensive athletic activities.
