Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain treatment walking

knee-pain

Avatar m tn Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. Pain worsens on walking. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint. You will need X-rays and MRIs of the knee to find the exact. Treatment will follow correct diagnosis. Do consult your orthopedic specialist at the earliest. Meanwhile do not bear weight on that leg, give it rest, apply ice pack, and take an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Take care!

Avatar f tn Older woman here, developed knee pain 2 months ago. It thankfully went away, but then about a week ago started hurting again, this time in different location, just to the left and medial of my knee cap. Every step is excruciating, only way to describe it. Guess I have meniscus tear? But has anyone experienced this type of horrible pain with Every Step? If so did you find a remedy?
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
Avatar f tn I would suggest you see a Dr and have x rays done because there may be a treatment to end the pain and ultimately treat the problem once and for all. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am having a similar knee pain problem. After walking a long distance 3 days in a row on a trip my knees began to kill me. Now nearly a month later my right knee is fine and left is still having pain. Like you I am only 24 and don't won't to have to spend money going to a doctor. Did your pain ever go away? Did you ever have your knees checked out?
Avatar n tn She complains for calf muscle pain and fatigue while walking expecially on rough terrain. Otherwise she does not have any issues. Can you please provide help?
Avatar f tn the past few weeks, i have developed knee buckling and the sensation that my knee is going to snap backwards while walking or standing with weight bearing down on my left leg. it also gives out every now and then, and now i also am experiencing a shooting pain that feels cold and radiates partly down to my upper calf bone, and after the shooting pain is over, the knee feels very cold and achy. (this pain i am describing is occurring inside the knee, and not on the exterior. any ideas?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have Knee pain after broken ankle.. Is it related to the injury of the tibia & fibulia? The knee cap was popping ..on the same side I have the plate. When I asked my doctor he said the drs at the insurance co would say it is hereditary & would have happened anyway.... He ordered therapy..The therapist said i have no arch on the foot. He put a pad in to help with my arch..It only pops occasionally now..I still have knee pain..Esp when it is stationary for a time..
Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
Avatar f tn Changing posture while sitting, using a good chair with back support, getting up and walking once in a while, etc helps. When in pain, RICE treatment helps (rest, ice, compression by wearing a knee cap and elevation of leg). Use of ultrasound waves also help bring relief. Other possibilities are vascular pathologies such as deep vein thrombosis and clots and will need a dopplar study. Please discuss these possibilities with your treating doctor. Take care!
5245618 tn?1365687749 So as you can see, arthritis can cause an overall knee pain. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured cause pain worsening on walking and result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint.

Avatar f tn anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy 2x week for 5 months, exercises at home (or bike or swim) and cortisone injection. PT was extensive but worsened the pain: I did taping, dry needling, and ultrasound with hot and cold but all those PT things really hurt and worsened the pain. I don’t do any heavy exercises like squats but pain occurs from walking, resting, stairs, driving. I am seeing a second opinion tomorrow who does specialize in lateral release.
Avatar f tn First you have to find out whether the muscle wasting was the cause or the effect of knee locking or knee pain. Generally weakness of the inner thigh muscles and tightness of the outer thigh muscles causes the knee cap to move from its place and cause knee pain and knee locking. This could have happened in your case if you have a localized muscle wasting only.
Avatar f tn Had RK microfracture & LK OATS. Somewhat able to do things with tolerable pain level. Started back with the floor pilaties & yoga. Too much stretching I guess. I started where you are with similiar discomforts. Then started to hurt behind the knee and on the lateral side. Now...I can't stand without both knee fatique and pain, i can't walk without pain. It has ruined me! I'm walking with braces and oh boy if i have to go up or down stairs, HELP~!
Avatar f tn I used to play a lot of soccer and have not in years, but I remember having knee and ankle pain quite often, enough so that I frequently wore knee braces and wrapped both ankles. I now play golf, and after playing one day I noticed some knee pain. There was no specific incident or sudden onset of pain - it just gradually appeared. I also started hearing more popping noises than usual, but now it hurt and I felt movement.
Avatar f tn I developed frontal thigh pain in both legs after I had a knee replacement in the right knee. I have had an EMG and it showed that the pain was not coming from my spine. The pain is relieved when I am sitting but upon standing or walking, the pain is so severe that I cannot walk. I am only 62 years old and too young to be wheel chair bound. I take meds for fibromyalgia without success and strong pain relievers are not effective.
Avatar n tn I have pain in the back of my knee when it's bent. I have no pain when it's straight and I'm walking. What could be causing it?
Avatar n tn I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee almost 3 months ago. The medial and lateral meniscus were repaired along with scraping under patella for some arthritis. The medial was much more damaged than the lateral. Surgery seemed to go well. No pain at all. After some weeks with therapy the knee still feels unstable laterally. Front to back movement was very good, Pain developed on medial side of knee and the patella tendon when walking.
Avatar m tn also, i have no pain while walking, but experience instability while running, jogging or during any sudden activities. Thanks alot.
Avatar m tn If this works you can have another series and for your information viscosupplementation does not decrease the pain directly as it is not a pain killer it tries to treat your pathology and give your relief. You would still need pain killers intermittently for the pain till the synvisc acts. Take care!
