Avatar m tn Look for a good manual therapist. They typically treat not just the knee but also look at how your calf and hip are affecting your knee.
Avatar n tn My nine year old daughter, Irene, has presented with knee pain for the last three weeks. She has to use crutches to walk. She can bend her leg at the knee with no problem but she cannot straighten it without crying out in pain, she cannot put any weight on it because it hurts worse. She has had x-rays, an MRI and has appointments with physical therapy, orthopedics, and rheumatology. The xrays came back negative, the MRI showed no problems with her bones just slight inflamation.

Avatar f tn I have had pain in my left knee for about 2 years, (18 year old, female). I recently went skiing and the pain flared up. Initionally I wasn't going to make an appointment at the orthopedics, but after a week the pain didn't change. Today while running up the stairs I fell and landed on my left knee, it has three small bruises (inner side) about an inch from the knee cap, although the whole area hurts, it's not all bruised... is it something I should worry about?

Avatar n tn Calcification of the menisci, known as chondrocalcinosis, is not an uncommon problem. Once calcified the menisci are more britlle and are mote likely to tear with trivial activity. The condition can also lead to an acute inflamatory reaction within the joint, similar to gout, and aptly named "pseudogout. If you do have a large collection of fluid within your knee, your orthopedist may elect to aspirate (drain) the fluid, and send the fluid to the lab for analysis.
Avatar m tn First,"Moderate patellar chondrosis with deep cartilage fissuring, surface irregularity and subchondral marrow changes especially involving the inferior aspect" is not a diagnosis; it is an MRI report. What you have is known as either anterior knee pain syndrome, or patella femoral syndrome. In the past, it was called "runner's knee" Although there are some dr.
Avatar m tn The first step to any treatment is finding out what to treat! You need to see a Orthopedist, he/she will order xrays of your knee (normally 3-4 views AP/Lat/Oblique and possibly Sunrise). If these are inconclusive, a MRI should be performed. These are standard exceptable procedures. You said you are from Bangladesh, are you there now? The procedures there may be more difficult to obtain than here, but this is the only advice I know to give you. Good luck!
Avatar m tn ve felt a constant burning (sometimes stabbing) pain which is mainly behind my knee cap, and at the top of the knee cap (where the thigh meets the knee), it also clicks and somedays feels very stiff. this pain fluctuates every day, and some days it will feel almost fine, some days i will be in agony, both of which sometimes stick around for months. excercise is STILL extremely difficult due to pain levels and my knee sometimes locking up.
Avatar n tn My daughter, almost 4, has been complaining of left knee pain for a year and a half. First it was in the middle of the night. She would wake up hysterical. Then she started to complain during the day. We figured it was growing pains at first and then consulted with a pediatric rheumatologist. She ruled out systemic arthritis but did say she was reacting to her exam of her left knee and to keep an eye on it.
Avatar f tn I am now in a crepe bandage for a week. It is very pain and it really hurts on weight bearing. It is also painful at the back of my leg when I walk. Could you explain what a stress line is? and how long it will take to heal. I have bechets disease and I am on azathioprine treatment. I have also got surgical menopuase, I had my ovaries out 9 years back. I am on HRT.
Avatar m tn I had surgery over 10 months ago for a lateral meniscus tear in my knee. This is the second surgery I have had on this same knee. The previous surgery I had a medial meniscus tear about 5 years ago. I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm an 19 year old male and since the last week of August, I've had a sharp pain in my knee. It's occurs in my left knee, on the inside. It's very near to the platella, but I don't know if it's the tibia or the fibula. It's the bone that kind of slightly juts out. Anyways, it hurts to bend the knee and walking up and down stairs causes slight pain as well. Any insight on the problem is appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Avatar f tn When my leg is bent anywhere imbetween 90 degrees and total paralellness, and I rotate my foot slightly clockwise (heel left), something slips in my knee and it hurts like hell. Feels like a tendon on the right side of my right knee. But the pain is in the back. I'm guessing it's my MCL? Anyway, I force myself to painfully stretch my leg till its straight, and somewhere in there something pops. The majority of the pain goes as soon as it pops.
Avatar f tn I would suggest resting the knee till the pain and swelling settle. Ice-packs and NSAIDS may also be helpful for relief. After that I would advice seeing a physiotherapist for exercises that would strengthen you hamstrings. You may also consult with your doctor if you would be required to wear a knee brace. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar n tn I remember seeing a pediatrician for knee pain when I was 15 yrs old. The pain/swelling/stiffness/heaviness has progressively became worse over the years. Everyday I experience some type of joint pain, however, it is mostly in my legs/knees. I have seen orthopedics, neurologist, family physician, ER doctors all say I have some arthitis but nothing I take or do relieves the pain. I have missed alot of work due to the pain and not being able to walk.
