Knee pain squats

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain squats

pain

Avatar m tn About 5 weeks ago I was trying to do rapid-squats without any warm up (yes, stupid, I know), and got this really sharp pain in my right knee, kind of under the kneecap - in the muscle area of my right leg I've been trying to not run at all to aggravate it, and trying to keep it straight, but I'm still taking walks on it. The pain has gotten a lot better, and it's only painful when I squat, kneel or bend my legs (the least painful).
Avatar f tn But then up and pain subsided. Possibly knee cap moved back in place. Now then in morning knee lil swollen, pain when walking, no bending or squatting which would lead my proffessional opinion to be you over streched tendons, possibly a slight tear. Use an ice pack for 2 days twice a day 30 mins each. No more weights till Friday. If everything returns to normal leave the squats out for an additional week. However by this Friday if knee is still the same, go see family doctor.
Avatar n tn I am just wondering how long it could take for a quad muscle to heal from a direct blow but with no bruising and if the weakness in the VMO muscle could cause my knee to pop and IT band to snap at times and cause pain in my pes anserine bursa. I did see a orthopedic who said he is not sure. X-rays were negative but I have a high deductable insurance so I am trying not to get an MRI.
Avatar m tn Foam rolling and wearing a knee sleeve helps me a lot when lifting heavy weights, as it makes me feel almost no pain even when doing, for example, squats or similar exercises. In the last week or so, I noticed that my left knee got a bit swollen. It feels tender to touch, as if it's filled with a liquid. (This is not the first time that this has happened) I feel no pain in the knee however, and I have full range of motion.
Avatar m tn When I landed, i felt a sharp pain in the middle of my left knee. I did not feel any popping, just a very sharp pain right behidn the patella. I didn't think anything of it that day, and it never bruised or swelled. I laid off the knee for the remainder of the week, but when i started lifting the next week, anything that put stress on the knee hurt. Squats, Legpress, Deadlifts, they all hurt right at the middle of the knee behind the patella.
2063301 tn?1343833074 I started going to the gym around 2 months back and my trainer got me started on a high intensity of squats, steppers and abdomen related exercise such as squats and sit ups. And after about 2 months I developed a back and knee ache. My left knee hurts whenever I climb stairs or stand up from a sitting position but that pain is much more better than before.

Avatar f tn anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy 2x week for 5 months, exercises at home (or bike or swim) and cortisone injection. PT was extensive but worsened the pain: I did taping, dry needling, and ultrasound with hot and cold but all those PT things really hurt and worsened the pain. I don’t do any heavy exercises like squats but pain occurs from walking, resting, stairs, driving. I am seeing a second opinion tomorrow who does specialize in lateral release.

Avatar n tn Do you mean doing squats relieved you sciatica pain? It didn't hurt to tighten your glutes? Was your pain in the glute area?
Avatar f tn I have no idea what to do about my knee pain, i went for lifeguard training today and i cant even push myself because my knee give out even with swimming :( im sick of this pain :(((
Avatar f tn First, there's a limit to how much you can change the basic shape nature gave you. Some of us just have bigger body parts than others. So the question is whether the size issue is due to fat, in which case you'd probably have excess fat in other places as well, especially the belly and thighs, or just due to your anatomy.
Avatar f tn Im experiencing a sore left leg! Runs from my butt cheek to my knee! Idk if it because of all the cleaning we did last night, cause my right arm is sore as well!
Avatar m tn I have had knee pain since I was a kid. I am 20, and I have been a swimmer up until last year. I believe it may come down to more than one cause, but I will leave that up to the professionals to decide. Bascially, I have alot of pain around my pattella when squatting past 30 degrees. I believe it is in part due to patellar mistracking. I have been working on flexibility in my hamstrings and quads, as well as strengthening my VMO, since it is weaker than the outer quad muscles.
1855569 tn?1319669473 its been over a year now and the pain right below the kneecap feels like a big bruise or knot is there and i have to crawl on my knees carefully ifi want to with just the top of my knee. i run a lot do squats im an amatuer bodybuilder if you will cuz i train a lot mainly for the military but here is the other strange thing. whenever i do these exercise there is no pain my knee feels perfectly fine. only whem i put pressure on it. no popping or anything or grinding.
Avatar m tn ve had some giving way, going up stairs is rough and coming down them are a nightmare, I now have more general pain all throughout my knee (some even on the outside now) at about a 6 on a scale of 1-10, just walking is a chore and I definitely cannot even think about running or walking fast for that matter, I can't put too much weight on it while at the gym - squats hurt - even 10lb leg presses on the knee hurts, and I have never fully regained a 'locked out' position in the knee lik
Avatar n tn Have a day of rest in between each one so that your glute muscles get to fully heal. Include squats, split squats and step-ups into your weight-training workout, as each are effective at targeting your major butt muscle. Perform three to five sets of eight to 20 reps of each glute exercise you include in your workout. This type of exercise will help size gains because it is effective at overloading your muscle fibers. Rest 30 to 90 seconds in between each set.
Avatar m tn Few weeks ago I did deep squats with weights and my knee started popping and cracking. After that every step I walk into the staircase I hear loud cracking sound in me knee. So I thing it is 90% torn meniscus. Is there other solution than surgery? May physical therapy?
Avatar f tn Lateral lunges, front lunges, half squats, leg press, lateral step ups, knee extension (90-40 degrees), hamstring curls, hip adduction and abduction, hip flexion and extension, toe raises, try all of these under an instructor. I would suggest you to apply ice packs regularly to decrease the pain and inflammation and take intermittent pain killers and go for an MRI and also a second opinion. Take care!
Avatar f tn s helped me quite a bit. Jumping jacks to get you started, squats, leg lifts, lunges and quick feet for thighs; planks, v-ups and bicycle crunches for belly and love handles. Then jog if the weather's nice and my mood agrees.
Avatar n tn m having pain on the outside of my quads, which I only feel when i get up, or do certain exercises, like squats. The pain is similar to pain you get from a good workout, but its all of the time and is definitely been causing some weakness in my legs. I've been diagnosed with the following, but they say this is not the cause of the pain: L5/S1 disc bulge, a very mild and broad based disc bulge just barely touching the traversing S1 nerve root. Doctors do not seem to have any idea.

Avatar n tn Hello, About 6 months ago I started to do some running and after the first month or so started getting pain above my knee, so I stopped. Since then the pain hasn't gone away and I'm getting desperate now as nothing seems to work. The pain is at its worst when going down stairs, steep hills, or when I put weight on it such as in a lunge or squat. It's had periods of getting better then when I think I'm going to be pain free it always gets worse.
Avatar f tn Ive heard nipple stimulation really helps.
Avatar n tn Do you have access to a gym? Or is this for at home exercises without any equipment?
