knee-pain

Avatar n tn Hello, About 6 months ago I started to do some running and after the first month or so started getting pain above my knee, so I stopped. Since then the pain hasn't gone away and I'm getting desperate now as nothing seems to work. The pain is at its worst when going down stairs, steep hills, or when I put weight on it such as in a lunge or squat. It's had periods of getting better then when I think I'm going to be pain free it always gets worse.
Avatar m tn ive stopped that for a while also running up hills or trails. it ***** my knee still crackles and pops. when bending moving i had it feeling like it cured but its like permanent now. i don't know. so i guess i will be permanent stuck with this stupid knee problem. if i work it hard enough it feels pain like its loose. sounds like i will have this permeant crackling. i hope i can cure i will go to the doctor soon but i have no insurance.
Avatar m tn The bump is on the outside and almost below the knee. There is absolutely no pain, or discomfort, and I can run and walk fine with no limp. The bump is almost like a bone or a ligament, is hard in texture and does not give way when felt. Although now that I am aware of the bump, I can almost feel it?! Also since I noticed it, it has not changed. Here are some picutres: http://imgur.com/a/r5uBd What do you think this could be? Thanks!
1470596 tn?1286713970 I had this problem and realised thanks to my physio, that I overpronated when running. This can cause knee problems which is why I needed to buy shoes with arch support which stops the foot rolling inwards. For walking you can buy orthotic insoles but I would not recommend running with these. I use Adistar Salvations to run. A good running shop will check you for pronation before you buy. Also this might seem obvious but are you stretching before and after running.
Avatar m tn I was playing volleyball and jumped and landed on my knee, the first few days my knee hurt too bad to walk on. It has been about a month now and I can walk with no problem but if I turn or back up or go down or up hills it still hurts sometimes. It also feels like something is moving when I turn sometime .Could this be serious? Should I see a doctor?
1773330 tn?1314171331 i ve been running on threadmill for 2 weeks..i ve got a knee pain...any solution to decrease the pain?
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar n tn And have tried everything he has asked me too. The only thing that has worked for my knee pain that allows me to be pain free ,is pain pills, but I am afraid to ask him for them because of the immediate labeling(which even you are having as you read this) that comes from someone asking for a strong pain medication. Stay off the knee! I can’t, I have no desire to be stationary until I am dead.Limit your activities> I already do, no running, jumping, or hard impact sports.
Avatar f tn IN june i took part in a 100 mile cycle race, the 90th mile i had the most horrendous pain running down the side of my calf from my knee, at the end of the race i couldnt walk. i iced/ heated etc.. by the 2nd day of resting i could walk again.
Avatar m tn ve been running with no knee pain. I run on the dirt/grass, where others run on the hard cement. Time after again they would get knee injuries. I quit running in races because I could feel the difference in the hard surface on my legs running verus the dirt/grass. If it was me, since I love running, I would stay off the hard cement. Our joints aren't made for that hard pounding.
Avatar f tn s almost enough to put anyone off running for good. Do you attribute that to the running surface, the distance, poor footwear? Was that training for fitness or anything in particular? Multiple ultra marathons may have me letting out a sigh of relief. That is probably more understandable than say training for a marathon, etc. Having a brain tumor removed must have been quite frightening. At least going to the gym, while an expense and possible inconvenience, can be good for socializing.
Avatar n tn I have looked for patterns to try to self-diagnose, such as hydration levels, with no success. The pain often begins in my knee as a dull ache that can be temporarily alleviated by putting pressure on the patellar tendon, but then will radiate into either my hip or ankle. NSAID's seem to help sometimes. However, today I woke up with excruciating pain in my quad. It is not a cramp because there are no knots on palpation and stretching does not help.
Avatar f tn My dog has a bad knee in the back left. Our vet says he needs surgery. But We can't afford it.I am on disablity and my son is my cargiver. And the state doesn't pay much. But he is sick with liver and kidney trouble. And he can't do regular work right now. Our vet gave us rimdyl but it puts him to sleep all the time and he wouldn't eat or drink. She said we could get more if we wanted at 5 pills for $8.00. Is there anything we can give him that isn't by prescripcion?
Avatar n tn It includes the articulation between the tibia and femur (leg and thigh) and the patella (knee cap) and femur. The most common knee problems in running relate to what is called the "patellofemoral complex". This consists of the quadriceps, knee cap and patellar tendon. What is now called patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) has also been called runner's knee, anterior knee pain, or chondromalacia of the patella.
Avatar f tn I'm 7 weeks. I work hard and most days my knee flares pain. Never had it before anyone else?
Avatar f tn A Doctor I saw in PA said they will not do anything for my knee because I am to young. I was told to just quit walking up or down hills and steps.(at the time I lived in the Mountains of PA in a Cape cod style house. So that was a little hard. Plus I have 2 kids. 12 and 8.) I have just moved to a 1 floor house in FL and the pain is worse sometimes. Celebrex is not working. Knee grinds. Now the other one is doing it and my Lower back is killing me.
Avatar f tn t walk up or down stairs or hills without more pain. There is also pain when I inadvertently twist my knee (if I turn while walking) or if I try to get up from a sitting position by placing most of my weight on that leg. My confusion lies in the usual symptoms of meniscal injuries - I've had no swelling, my knee doesn't lock completely. Is this a meniscal tear? Could it be that an old injury is starting to cause this years later?
Avatar n tn I like to stay active so I try to go walking and running in town. Halfway back from my walk it hurt unbelievably bad. My hips would not stop popping. I noticed that if I even push down on my hips it feels extremely painful. This only happens when I walk, run, or even ride horse. I don't have any clue of whats causing it and can't decide if I need to go to the doctor for it. Please help!
Avatar f tn Hello, I have had constant knee pain for 17 years, currently I'm 24 years old. I have had all kinds of tests done since I first started getting knee pain and all of them said I had healthy knees and NO problem was ever detected. All I want to know is if my knees are healthy then why do my knees constantly hurt (I mean 24/7). I had an MRI done a few weeks ago when my knee pain got out of control but that also came out "normal.
Avatar n tn After that, running and jumping has caused much pain in my knee. I went to an athletic trainer and they told me I had tendinitis and to ice and take ibuprofen. It continues to be very painful during practice. I can feel rubbing and clicking in my knee when I walk. What is wrong with my knee? Should I still be playing basketball or will it make it worse?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been having pain mainly in my left knee above and to the left of my left knee cap. I have had X-Rays and a MRI to see if any problems can be found. The doctors said they have found nothing wrong. I went a physical therapist around April of last year during spring track. He said I didn't have enough thigh strength. I do the exercises daily he instructed and they seem to not work anymore. Right now I am running winter track.
Avatar n tn It started out of no where and ever since, if I go on a run for longer than .75 mile, I get the same sharp pain again. If I continue running with the pain, I'll feel it in the same spot for the next 24-48 hours, especially when going downstairs/upstairs and of course when running. I've stopped running for a long time in hopes this would solve the issue, but after going for a run again recently it came right back.
Avatar m tn Maybe you should take him to his doctor if you can. They may refer him to a neurologist or maybe even an orthopaedic doctor. I'm not sure. Besides the running, he never has issues with walking up stairs or up hills or any issues like that?
Avatar f tn I have been running 3 miles a day fro 3x a week, until recently because i have been experiencing really aching pain in my knee and if i keep running it becomes really painful like i have torn something, and sometimes my knee gives way too, if i stop running and walk the pain wears off for a while, i have had an 6-8 week rest, but it still hurts when i try to bend my knee, it pulls really tight and hurts, haven`t tried running fully yet, sometimes the knee hurts really bad , it hurts in the back
