Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain mri

Avatar f tn However from the past few months I am experiencing pain in my knee whenever I bend it. It is not a continuous pain but its like a shooting pain when I bend my leg (like in the bathroom or climbing stairs etc). I mentioned this to my Dr and she checked and said the ligaments are perfect and there is no swelling. But I want to know what this pain is if everything is perfect. I am 32 yrs old and it is getting hard for me to sit on the floor or get up. This is obviously not normal.
Avatar f tn I recently had an MRI of my left knee due to pain. I have the results of the MRI but I don't have an appointment until the 29th of April. Chondromalacia patella and chondral thinning along the medial femoral condyle. I was wondering if anyone might know what this result means. I can't get a sooner appointment and I'm really wanting to know what's causing my pain. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Avatar f tn I have knee pain and swelling that comes and goes. I have been to an Orthopedic and have had x-rays and MRI. Nothing specific was noted in the x-ray and scan. The Dr suggested orthoscopic surgery to see what he might be able to do. I have not had the surgery. He also suggested I may have osteoarthritis. The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all.
Avatar f tn Last year all I did was swing my legs out of bed and stand up when extreme pain shot through my knee. For the next 2 weeks I was limping and the pain was pretty severe. It started 5 years ago with pain going up and down the stairs. I saw an orthopedic and he told me it was overuse. Just 5 months ago I went to see him again and he ran an MRI and an X-ray. The X-ray showed nothing and the MRI showed thinning of the cartilage.
Avatar f tn Well, you've landed on the multiple sclerosis board, but having recently dislocated my knee, I've also had a knee mri and a visit with an orthopedic surgeon and physiotherapists. I would think this is a relatively normal knee (depending on your age). I imagine they were evaluating you for a torn ACL/PCL/meniscus? I expect there is another board with members who will be more helpful :).
Avatar n tn I have for the last month developed inner knee pain. Feels like an electrical jolt at times. Is not a constant pain but wakes my up at night.

1571284 tn?1295706102 I have pain that gerenates from the side of my knee and increases when it is bent but has no weight on it...what is the cause?
Avatar m tn If MRI is normal then the pain can be due to Patellofemoral syndrome. This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor.
Avatar m tn He has had many blood test ans scans done with nothing showing up that can explain the amount of pain. He says that his pain is centered at the middle of is knee ( the point that you would come to if you drilled from the top of the knee and the side of the knee). He is unable to walk with out a knee brace and crutches. None of the heavy narcotics he is on even dull the pain. He is at a loss and no one is able to do anything for him. Any help is appreciated.
Avatar m tn Once I got the cortisone shot the rib cage pain and stiffness went away as well as the leg pain and stiffness. I still had the knee pain and pain and stiffness in both shoulder, to the point where I still have difficulty putting on a shirt.
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been having pain mainly in my left knee above and to the left of my left knee cap. I have had X-Rays and a MRI to see if any problems can be found. The doctors said they have found nothing wrong. I went a physical therapist around April of last year during spring track. He said I didn't have enough thigh strength. I do the exercises daily he instructed and they seem to not work anymore. Right now I am running winter track.

1744364 tn?1311780484 I would like to ask an expert if he/she would recommend/perform knee arthroscopy on me based on the following information. I have had chronic knee pain for the last 16 or so months. My knees lock up and "pop" back out often and it is painful. An MRI of my left knee in June 2010 showed no evidence of a meniscal tear, which the doctor, upon examining it was quite certain was the case. The MRI just showed some inflammation. I got my first cortisone shot the same day.
Avatar f tn I have had both an X-Ray and MRI of it, they said it was Normal, but the pain is getting worse and the swelling also, you can hardly tell where my knee cap is anymore. I recently got copies of the MRI and x-ray on a dvd and on one of the images of the MRI it shows what looks like a rip on one side and like black watery image on the other. I have looked at Images of other MRI's of knees and cant find any that look the same.
Avatar n tn m now 32). The pain started below my knee, and is now accompanied with pain shooting down my shin. It also now feels as if something from the top of my knee is pulling as well. I am hurting, and I don't know what else to do. I am also taking Naperson (sp?), which is not helping. I can't take anything more than that, because pain meds knock me on my butt & I don't want that. Please help with other suggestions while I await my doctors appointment.
Avatar f tn He did an ultrasound and drew off some more fluid and gave him another cortizone shot. The first doctor drew the fluid from under his knee and the second drew it from his knee cap. It has been several weeks now and his pain is back he still has a little swelling but now both his knees hurt. He wears a brace on both his knees now. He has trouble getting up if he has to get down on the ground for something. We are not sure what to do now because both doctors has told him all his test look fine.
