Hi! I have had right knee pain and swelling and tenderness on inside of knee below the kneecap to the shinbone. It is tender in one spot to touch and makes me jump. If I walk very far it aches afterward. I had MRI and ortho doc said just meniscus fraying and old MCL sprain and inflammation under kneecap.
Bill once again, in the last year i've had knee pains, 1 year ago my left knee started hurting a lot when bending it and especially when i was waking up, 5 months ago my right knee started hurting less and my right started hurting. Now only my right knee hurts but i keep feeling my left knee as somewhat vurnelable cause almost everytime i squat and come up both my knees make a cracking sound (especially my right).
Hi, How are you feeling? Your symptom of pain behind the knee cap suggests that your pain can be due to either a ligament weakness or meniscus issue. When any patient complains of “knee pain,” the initial differential diagnosis in most of the cases includes: Osteoarthritis, Ligament damage, Meniscus damage or Patello-femoral disorder. If you give little detail regarding your symptomatology it will helpful in discussing further.
Hi, I have pain in the tibia of my left leg, which I think is below the knee cap. The pain started when I was 18, after I got an injury during a basketball game. Now I'm 20 and I still feel the pain only when I engage in physical activity. What's wrong with me. Could these by osgood schlatters disease?
I just went back the other day for my follow up because my knee pain has gotten worse and he thinks i have damaged cartilage in my knee and if i do he said i need surgery. So if i do have to have surgery how long is the recovery and will i have to wear knee braces if i play these sports from now on?
It throbbs when I am sat down, and if i move my knee left or right whilst my foot is on the floor I get a very sharp shooting pain which makes me jump. also if i raise my leg out straight and then bring it towards me the sharp pain happens when my leg is at a 90 degree angle or less. The only history I have with joint problems was when I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis 5 years ago, which I experienced Arthritis pain in all my joints. I have tried using a support band on it but hasn't helped.
I have had both knees replaced several years ago In March I fell on a tiled floor striking my left knee which became swollen and painfu At the ER was told i had a bad contusion My knee is still swollen and tender with a burning The ortho dr can't seen to find what's wrong but the workman comp dr suggest i may have fluid pressing on a nerve...........

This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained it in past), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint. All these aspects will have to be investigated by your doctor. Other possibilities are bursitis (inflammation of fluid filled sac over joints), tendonitis (inflammation of cords joining muscles to bones) or due to weakness of patellar bone.
started out with a knee injury when i was forteen with vicodin the first five years i increased very slwoly by 19 i was taking 15 750 vicodin twice a day then i swsitched to as many perc tens as i could afford a day till i was 22 and then it turned into the OC's which i ended up taking 300 mgs 3 times a day for like 2 years or so and then came the morphine and thats when i deicided to quit about a month after i started taking morphine been clean almost 50 days or so Does your son know?
hello, I play volleyball, which is hard on the knees from diving to jumping all the time... a few months ago I dove and hit my knee on the groung very hard. My knee pain went away and it recently has come back. It feels like a knife goes into my knee right below my knee cap every time i jump or put a lot of pressure on it like trying to stand up. I have been icing it, but it won't go away....Does anyone 1. Know what is wrong? or 2. Know how to fix it?
I have been having knee troubles since mid november of last year. The pain came up about two weeks after basketball had started and it hasn't gotten much better or worse to this day. The pain comes when I jump, squat, lunge, etc. which causes playing basketkball very difficult. The pain is worst directly on my kneecap.
A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain. I can still handle the back pain cause it stops after 30 minutes of training, and returnes after it (I don't care as long as I can play), but knee pain in my left knee is horrible. Yesterday I jumped and felt as like someone is stabbing me with a knife in my knee. I couldn't stand on my left leg for 10 minutes, and after that it still hurts a bit, but I can walk nicely today.
Wile in the service during training I felt a sharp pain in my outer left knee. It was intence for awile but then it went away so ofcourse being mr military i did not complain. Now I am out of the military and trying ot get back in shape. I have noticed that if i try and jump and pull my left heal to my butt and down. I get a shap pain on the left side of my left knee. I dont' know how to explain the pain as anything except a stabbing feeling. Any help would be great on this subject.
However, I have terrible joints but especially knee pain. My right knee gives me more trouble than the left. IThe pain that I am experiencing is strange to me in that it is not always there. Currently, it is full force, but not all the time, only in certain situations. For example, if I am just standing straight up, there is no pain. My right knee feels a bit funny, but nothing in the form of pain.
My 14 yr old daughter has had knee pain for a couple of years, Dr's have said muscles around her knee joint needed strengthening and she has been going to physical therapy. the 1st therapist she went to said the range of motion in her hip/knee was minimal and had her do a stretching routine. I decided not to continue with the therapy since she could do these stretches at home. To my regret she didn't continue with the stretches and about a year later her knee/hip pain worsened.
But then in the following days if felt like something inside my leg was almost, pealing up or tearing and it hurt a lot to have it just barley touched like when my legs cross or if i roll onto my stomach while sleeping. Its a horrible pain and its only in one spot of my right knee. And its not just for a second, after it gets touched i feel this horrible after shock of pain.
I also have trouble sitting Indian style (my knee gets very sore and it's painful to straighten my knee back out -- sometimes my other knee -- the right -- hurts VERY little, but nothing like the left). I do not generally have any swelling. My therapist has become increasingly concerned about my knee and thinks I may need very minor arthroscopic surgery to correct the issue. Has anyone else had anything like this happen?
You don't have any of these symptoms which signify you are not having advanced stage of disease. You don't have hip pain or knee pain that rules out any nerve involvement. I think it might be due to result of a collateral ligament or meniscus problem (or both) until proven otherwise. I recommend you to see an orthopaedician at earliest and get imaging studies done for further evaluation. X-rays study including AP weight-bearing, AP in 45° extension, lateral, and sunrise views.
I have no pain in my knee though
It only clicks/pops if i sit down, if i stand up it doesnt make anysound. I dont feel any pain at all even if i bend my knee quickly i could bear weigh, jump, run without any problem i could stretch my leg. But then i could feel stiffness and a quick sharp pain not really a pain more likely a mild pinch if i stand in a long period of time.
Hey i'm 14 and randomly, but often, whenever i suddenly bend my knees my right knee gets a sudden uncomfortable pain that makes me shoot right up because it feels that if i would have stayed in that kneeling position any longer my knee cap would've snapped. Its only in my right leg used to be both legs but now my left leg is fine.
I am in my mid-twenties and have been having knee pain for nearly 2 years now and have been to quite a few doctors, physical therapy for several months, had an MRI on my knee, 2 blood tests, a chest xray, and bought custom orthotic shoes, but nobody can find anything abnormal so they can’t tell me how to fix it. I have had my fair share of athletic injuries before (never my knees) so I know what it’s like to be hurt.
on or about the site of my left ovary, which she felt, along with crampy feelings and lower back pain. I also mention that my left hip, thigh, and knee are almost constantly in pain, and sometimes my right hip and right side of my pelvis hurt. She felt the bump was similar to other pea-like bumps I have here and there that are harmless. I am 55, reached menopause at 46, have 2 children.
I'm also getting a lot of knee and leg pain aswell as knee spasms and pins and needles. I'm worried i should still be in a cast as the specialist was so adament about it. Should i be worried and ask for another opinion?? Im still waiting for another hospital appointment.
They gave me a brace thing when I was pregnant the first time but my bump was too big to be comfortable wearing it and it was hard to sit down. I just have to be careful with myself and try not to let myself overstretch. It goes back to normal pretty quickly after delivery.
He said my gait has progressed the arthritis in my left knee. He will be sending me to a rheumatologist. I am in so much pain. I have been doing swim aerobics for the last 2 months, and have really trying to become healthier and lose weight. I know that is a factor as well. I am just really down, discouraged and depressed right now. Tears are flowing, and the cough continues. I know lots of my emotions are from lack of sleep, fever, and sickness.
