Avatar f tn So im debating on what i should do, i know i need the surgery but if im gonna have it and then have to have it again im gonna be really upset, and on top of all of this i have hip problems that i have to keep waiting on because of my knee, and i start college in August and i really dont want to have to go there with all these problems, it's just way to much for me to handle. I already suffer from depression and at this point its getting alot worst.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm an 19 year old male and since the last week of August, I've had a sharp pain in my knee. It's occurs in my left knee, on the inside. It's very near to the platella, but I don't know if it's the tibia or the fibula. It's the bone that kind of slightly juts out. Anyways, it hurts to bend the knee and walking up and down stairs causes slight pain as well. Any insight on the problem is appreciated. Thanks for your time!
Avatar f tn whenever i sit down and bend my knees, there is a cracking sound and its so loud that people arond me start looking at me and i feel quite embarassed...though i dont feel any pain. plz tell me how to stop this sound.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with arthritis in my Right knee. I am 34 years old and was wondering if there is anything I can do for it and my back. A Doctor I saw in PA said they will not do anything for my knee because I am to young. I was told to just quit walking up or down hills and steps.(at the time I lived in the Mountains of PA in a Cape cod style house. So that was a little hard. Plus I have 2 kids. 12 and 8.) I have just moved to a 1 floor house in FL and the pain is worse sometimes.
Avatar m tn Hello Dear, Knee replacement is usually not recommended in the young age group. Young physically active people are more likely to wear out their new knee prematurely. A continuous non surgical therapy is more recommended. What has been your age? What is the indication / cause for knee damage? What has been the other associated knee damage and pathology?
Avatar m tn When I started reading your message I imagined that you were a fat old lady. What a shock when I got to the bottom to find that you are only 15 years of age. The crunching and popping that you hear is called crepitus. I agree with the others that you do need to go and see your doctor, possibly he may send your for xrays to find what is going on with your knees.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago I got bucked off a young horse and somehow injured my knee. It has pain on the I side mcl area and I am unable to bend it past 90° and I am unable to completely straightin it out. It feels pretty stable.

Avatar f tn s so i have no idea how it happened. Then i started having pain in my right knee which felt the same way as my left knee when the pain started, it turned out to be that i also developed a plica in that knee to and tore something i forgot what it was called, and my recent surgery was in november and i tore the same thing from before, i dont remember the name of it, i know it started with an L though.
Avatar f tn That you still have swelling, pain and a burning sensation in this joint three MONTHS post your fall is totally unacceptable. Since none of these symptoms have resolved in that time period, the only conclusion is that there is damage in the joint. That even your ortho, who I will assume was your surgeon, can't figure out what is wrong is pretty damn alarming!
Avatar m tn And i am surprised of few facts that makes people totally helpless. Knee pain, back pain these are very common today but what is the proper medication of this problem? Thanks for the answers in advance.
Avatar m tn HELP I HAD A TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT ON 2009. I AM IN INCREDIBLE PAIN SO MIUCH THAT I CAN'T FUNCTION. MY KNEE HEATS UP AND FEELS LIKE IT'S ON FIRE. IT IS SWELLED UP BAD AND I GET PINCHING PAIN ON THE INSIDE OF MY KNEE. DOCTORS CLAIM THE XRAY IS NORMAL BUT I FALL ALL THE TIME AND I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING LOOSE OR VERY WRONG. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS???????? I FEEL ALLL ALONE AND DON'T FEEL THAT ANYONE UNDERSTANDS. I AM 36 YRS.
Avatar m tn Taping can give immediate pain relief and also helps in correcting abnormal positioning of the patella. You can continue this until proper stretching is achieved and till patella balances. Soft tissue therapy and stretching help loosen tight structures. The exact stretch depends upon which muscles are tight. Once pain has resolved then strengthening exercises can be started to prevent the condition from returning. Surgery is also an option.
Avatar f tn This would be a difficult question to answer without the relevant clinical details. A knee replacement is not preferred in young patients as the life of a knee replacement around 10-20 years (the newer devices last longer than the older ones). Though knee replacements are usually successful and help in regaining movements around the joint conservative management is preferred due to the risk associated with the replacement surgery and a possible re-replacement surgery.
523100 tn?1213724854 said I am to young for a repl. so he is going to cut some bone below my knee kinda like a reverse shim.
Avatar n tn I am 21 years old, and I play volleyball for about 10 years. Semi-pro, but very intensive trainings, also at summer beach volley... What also might be good to say, since I was a child I could (and still can) jump very high about a meter vertically. A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain.
Avatar m tn Since then I have still been in pain, knee is catching and locking, and and limp all the time. My right knee is now hurting from compensating for the left knee. I went for another MRI last Wed. and it showas as I said another ter of the posterior horn medial meniscus at the inferior meniscal surface, and says "unchanged from the 4/21/10 MRI" Does this mean they missed a tear then or is this a retear?? The conservative treatment hasn't worked.
Avatar f tn I'm a 30 something yr. old woman and for the past month I have having chronic pain in my left thigh and knee. I don't recall falling down when the pain started occuring everyday. OTC pain meds aren't helping. There isn't any unexplained bruises.
Avatar f tn However from the past few months I am experiencing pain in my knee whenever I bend it. It is not a continuous pain but its like a shooting pain when I bend my leg (like in the bathroom or climbing stairs etc). I mentioned this to my Dr and she checked and said the ligaments are perfect and there is no swelling. But I want to know what this pain is if everything is perfect. I am 32 yrs old and it is getting hard for me to sit on the floor or get up. This is obviously not normal.
Avatar m tn The knee itself can get a problem and have osteoarthritis - an xray or other imaging would confirm any deterioration in the knee and the joints around it. Pain in the knee and leg can also be referred from degeneration in the lower spine and hips. A doctor may refer you for imaging done of those areas. You may already know that you have a degenerative disease, especially if you suffer from lower back pain.
Avatar f tn I found out yesterday that I have almost no cartilidge left in my left knee and there are also spurs. The MRI report contained several big words I can't remember right now but my doctor actually said to me "You're a little young for a knee replacement but........". I am scared to death. In the last six years, I have had the tendons in my right ankle reconstructed and 4 screws and two pins placed in my left hand and wrist.
892665 tn?1259171714 We have had a series of small little storm symptoms coming in and out. I have so much OA knee pain. I was dx with OA in my knees at 17 years old. I have been dealing with it for 32 years! I have tried years of meds, heating pads, cortisone shots, weight loss, aqua aerobics, physical therapy, Synvisc etc... I have limited mobility. I can get only about a 90 degree bend in my right knee on bad days, about 95-100 degrees on good days and I can’t straighten it to save my life.
