Children experience different symptoms and generally have a more favorable prognosis. Childhood arthritis is called juvenile arthritis. It can also be referred to as JRA, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, JIA, juvenile chronic arthritis, and Still's disease.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm an 19 year old male and since the last week of August, I've had a sharp pain in my knee. It's occurs in my left knee, on the inside. It's very near to the platella, but I don't know if it's the tibia or the fibula. It's the bone that kind of slightly juts out. Anyways, it hurts to bend the knee and walking up and down stairs causes slight pain as well. Any insight on the problem is appreciated. Thanks for your time!
Avatar f tn How old is your son? Are these baby teeth or adult teeth? I wouldn't pull any adult teeth unless absolutely necessary. Yes, the wisdom teeth could potentially fill in that space but there are complications with that. As the wisdom teeth come in, they don't move sideways into the space but rather, they tilt in and lean in sideways which causes problems with the jaw bone.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago I got bucked off a young horse and somehow injured my knee. It has pain on the I side mcl area and I am unable to bend it past 90° and I am unable to completely straightin it out. It feels pretty stable.

1134417 tn?1263270150 both my knees' on separate occasions (mostly) have a weird feel about them, and start to go red and hot at the joint it feels like something has slipped in my knee and it's pushing on the wrong part or something, After a while the inflammation and redness settles down, and my knee feels fine again, I'm only 14- why is this I'm confused as to what this could be and as far as I see it could be arthritis but I have no Idea, I've yet to consult a doctor- not thinking it a proble
Avatar f tn So im debating on what i should do, i know i need the surgery but if im gonna have it and then have to have it again im gonna be really upset, and on top of all of this i have hip problems that i have to keep waiting on because of my knee, and i start college in August and i really dont want to have to go there with all these problems, it's just way to much for me to handle. I already suffer from depression and at this point its getting alot worst.
Avatar n tn Sitting for long periods also kills whereas I get shooting pains down my leg into my foot. The pain is worse than labor but it is in spirts and not in one area. the back of my knee is sore but around my knee on the sides get shooting pains as well as the top of my knee. Sleeping is extremely uncomfortable. The doctor has given me a cortizone shot as well as a 6 day steroid pack which seemed to help on the 6th day because I could drive without pain for about 4 days after.

Avatar n tn I experience constant headache pain with significant pain happening in my extremities. The pain seems to navigate through my body and manifests for several days in one spot such as a shoulder or knee. My hands are swollen and ache. I have a constant ringing in my ears that has never stopped. My faith in my doctors is dwindling fast, I have been on a gammat of drugs through the years and have not been on any narcotics in over 1 year.
Avatar f tn s so i have no idea how it happened. Then i started having pain in my right knee which felt the same way as my left knee when the pain started, it turned out to be that i also developed a plica in that knee to and tore something i forgot what it was called, and my recent surgery was in november and i tore the same thing from before, i dont remember the name of it, i know it started with an L though.
Avatar f tn A couple yrs later I had another herniation in my back (above the fusion) and one in my neck which leaves my arms, leg in constant pain as well (nerve pain). The best advise I can give you is to explore other therapies and give them a chance to work. Hopefully a combination of these things can help alleviate your pain. Swimming, acupuncture, warm moist heating pad, physicial therapy are a few off the top of my head.
Avatar f tn They are kind of like Occupational Therapists that see the child weekly in all different environments, they use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy type methods for children, but they also are great support to the family aswell, acting as advocates and can refer to other people if necessary. My step son has mental health issues and we got the support above through the Paediatrician.
Avatar n tn in JRA, no matter how hard you try, you cannot get a child to say the pain he/she feels is anywhere other than in a joint. Growing pains are located in muscle areas of the body, not in the joints. We went through this with our daughter at the age of three; it took two years for the doctors to finally figure out that she has JRA. I would not be so easily dismissing this as simple growing pains. See if you can get in to see a Pediatric Rhuematologist.
5739095 tn?1374690666 Hey ladies i hav a question an it may be a silly one but im a first time mom so im just curious if you been told the same thing... They have told me NOT to carry young children now that im pregnant... Anyone else???
Avatar m tn Taping can give immediate pain relief and also helps in correcting abnormal positioning of the patella. You can continue this until proper stretching is achieved and till patella balances. Soft tissue therapy and stretching help loosen tight structures. The exact stretch depends upon which muscles are tight. Once pain has resolved then strengthening exercises can be started to prevent the condition from returning. Surgery is also an option.
Avatar f tn I was injured at work almost 15 years ago. Was told that I had blown out my knee and the only thing that would begin to fix the damage was a total knee replacement. They knew that on day one. They also said that no insurance company/doctors would consider a Total knee without first exhausting more "conservative measures" because at 37 I was too young. A new knee has a life span of about 15 years, less if overweight. At 37 that leaves time for too many knees.
Avatar m tn Okay, I may have found out what was causing the initial pain in the back of the knee. Sometimes I have a tendency in my sleep to pop my ankle - and to do this, I pull my toes up toward the front of my leg... VERY hard to achieve the pop. I've woken up several times while doing this. I woke up while doing it a couple nights after my previous post and then when I got out of the bed in the morning my calf was really aching. Or, it could be a sciatic nerve problem.
