knee-pain

Avatar m tn Since two years i am having pain in my both legs ,specially in left leg. Pain starts from above the knee and goes till calf. pain is more near knee. pain increases when i stand for a long time or do some intense physical work. i have gone through all medical tests like X-ray, MRI of knee and spine, Arthristis profile, diabetes , but nothing is there in these tests. it is more of a muscular pain. and it keeps on increasing. Doctor doesn't said anything. gave some muscles relaxants.
Avatar n tn When I get on my left knee I have a severe pain on the outside of the leg just below the knee.
Avatar f tn The commonest cause of pain in the calf is DVT or deep vein thrombosis and clots and post exercise. Pain in the calf area can also be due to pinched spinal nerves in the lumbo-sacral area or a pinched nerve at the knee joint. A nerve conduction study should be done. A MRI of the lumbar spine should also be able to throw some light. A deep vein thrombophlebitis or intermittent claudication (spontaneous spasm and relaxation of arteries) can also cause similar symptoms.
1607742 tn?1297984935 The various causes of leg pain are atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis - leg pain on walking (A blood clot in a deep vein), Leriche syndrome (block in abdominal aorta and/or main leg artery), limb ischaemia (low oxygen to limbs), sciatica, spondylitis of lower vertebrae and peripheral vascular disease (arteries of limbs are involved). A color Doppler test will rule out the possibility of involvement of an artery or vein and its blockage by a clot.
2040443 tn?1329848376 i have been getting popping at the back of my left knee and then pain afterwards.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees, and suffer from joint pain in my left hip ever since my last knee surgery(lft) . I think this is partly because after my left knee surgery, the joint now hypo-extends about 15 degrees. I think that is the correct term, it bends backwards,,lol. anyhow, this causes my hip alignment to be off. My question is this, how do I approach my Primary care Doctor about refering me to a pain management program?
Avatar f tn This has masked it, when ever i am not taking medication for other probs, this pain is always there. Just a very dull pain, somtimes making me light sensative and very tired. Could it be to do with the menapause?
Avatar n tn Since then there has been very little back pain, just a bit of tightness but none of the constant dull pain. Perhaps my knee had thrown my back out. The knee joint was uncomfortable but nothing like the pack pain and I didn't relate the two. thanks again for your input, Dr Kaul.
Avatar f tn Hello, Every so often, if I slightly turn my body in one direction but my leg doesnt follow quick enough and even just slightly puts a twist on my knee, I get this stabbing right in the center of my knee cap if I try to put my weight on the leg. I have to keep it slightly bent and no pressure on it at all. If I have no pressure on it, the stabbing isnt there, just with pressure. And sore if I try to straighten the knee.
Avatar f tn t hurt too bad but flex the knee and it has sharp pain like i have walking up and down stairs because of the knee caps. I sit in a normal position but lifting foot causing lots of pain around knee cap. I'm guessing I probably pulled something. Have put ice on it and taken ibu. I don't know that there is much a dr. would do but just wonder what I could have pulled.
Avatar f tn I would advise you to consult your primary care physician for evaluation of pain. In the meantime avoid exercise as this could aggravate the pain and take OTC Naproxen for pain relief. Regards.
Avatar f tn I have had runners knee and had a few falls on my knee in my life. It does not hurt that bad unless I stand or walk for a while. Im assuming its loose bodies/cartilage but im not sure if you can have those by the surface of your skin above the kneecap? What do you think this is and should I see a doctor for treatment? I hope this makes sense!
Avatar f tn Torn meniscus cartilage, 2 knee scopes (arthroscopic surgeries), and finally a total knee replacement. If your knee is swelling, especially in the morning after sleeping, it may be a torn meniscus cartilage. The older we get, the more brittle our cartilage becomes and the more prone it is to damage from impact, etc... I have had lots of injuries over the years but the knee had the worst pain of all.
2200368 tn?1345848512 I also had back pain before that. Than again a month ago I started to feel a bit pain in the lower side of back then the left side started to hurt from the mid of the back to somewhere above the knee.It turned out it was sciatica. But when I'm lying down I have a feeling like the right side of my back is above the left side, and when I'm doin some exercise I feel like left side doesn't participate at all.
Avatar f tn Generally weakness of the inner thigh muscles and tightness of the outer thigh muscles causes the knee cap to move from its place and cause knee pain and knee locking. This could have happened in your case if you have a localized muscle wasting only. Alternatively locking of knee (say due to torn piece of cartilage or bone figments) and knee pain could have caused a localized muscle atrophy in the thigh due to less use of the muscles.
Avatar f tn I've had leg aches for six months now, non stop. The pain is below my knee in the front, all the way down to my ankle. When it's really bad the pain is above my knee up to my thigh. I get it it in both legs.. Its very achy. Increases with exercise and walking. I'm not overweight, my xray's came out normal, blood work is fine. I'm at a loss and my Dr. is stumped. I'm on Oxycontin and Norco, but it's getting to the point that those don't even work anymore.
Avatar m tn It would be best to have this evaluated by a primary care physician or an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Meanwhile I would suggest resting the knee and limiting weight bearing. If the pain is more than mild, Tylenol may be helpful for pain relief. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
487070 tn?1313665952 having pain behind both knees I asumed I might be getting varacose veins. My primary says no, but suspects I have Artritis in both knees. X-Ray tomorrow, awaiting insurance pre-cert for MRI. Well, since yesterday, the left knee has been having constant sharp, shooting, extremely painful "stab" like feelings now come from the front. Walking, sitting ,doesn't matter.
4671444 tn?1357794171 Hi! In all probability you have injured the menisci in the knee—either the medial or the lateral depending on the site of pain. Meniscii if torn or injured, result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint. Since you had tendon injury 4 years back, this time too it could be a tendon troubling you.
Avatar m tn Green tea is unlikely to be related to knee/ ankle pain. Possibilities that may need to be considered include infections, inflammations, degenerations, neuro-muscular issues, muscle fatigue, growths/ masses etc. You may consider an initial evaluation by a primary care physician and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn run in my family and many of us have experienced knee pain in our twenties. I have fistulas on the underside of my patellas (knee caps). You could have the same or have an inflammatory process going on in them It bears seeing your PCP for a clinical examination. Are you taking any OTC NSAID's? It may be beneficial. You hand pain sounds like you may have a tendonitis or carpel tunnel syndrome. Repetitive use of your hands can aggravate both.
1573930 tn?1295917640 I am using a pain management doctor to help me manage the pain (with the primary option being narcotic pain meds). Is there a reason that the pain is this severe?
1855569 tn?1319669473 but the bump has seperated into teenie tiny bumps and hav over 7 YEARS relocated to beneath my knee cap my left knee has began process over the past 2 years im a 19 year old female and this began in the 6th grade for me and my doctor said it would go away in 6 months - 1 year its began to be VERRY painful in my right knee and all around my knee up to about my mid thigh down to above my calf it shoot through my knee when i lift my leg.
3147730 tn?1343154021 Did you do your PT after surgery? I had surgery back in Mar 2012 for this. I had intense thearpy 2 x weekly for about 2 months. I have my full range of motion BUT like you my knee cap gets off track & I have to jerk my knee back in a quick motion or try to maunevere it until I can hear the pop. It is called an unstable knee cap. Look on line for knee excersices you can do to strengthen your knee muscles & ligaments & even the knee cap. You need thearpy, not pain management.
