Avatar m tn Just wanted to point out that fractures in pediatric patients can sometimes present differently than fractures in adult patients. Pediatric bones tend to be more soft and malleable. Rather than breaking into separate parts, the bones may only bend or buckle; these are known as buckle fractures.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 8 years old and has had popping in her knee for a few years. When it first started it was very random and not often. We thought maybe growing pains, but it was not really an issue. She didn’t have any pain or swelling associated with it and was keeping to her regular activities. Then we noticed that not only did it not go away it was becoming more frequent (still no pain) so we went to see the doctor who said everything was fine. We came home after and kept an eye on it.
Avatar n tn He referrs alot for shoe inserts with a hugenpercentage getting relief og knee and leg pain --all children. No child needs to suffer in pain. Give a good multi v and drink milk.
Avatar n tn My daughter, almost 4, has been complaining of left knee pain for a year and a half. First it was i the middle of the night. She would wake up hysterical. Then she started to complain during the day. We figured it was growing pains at first and then consulted with a pediatric rheumatologist. She ruled out systemic arthritis but did say she was reacting to her exam of her left knee and to keep an eye on it.
Avatar n tn My daughter has suffered from Psorisis for years then last summer (AUG 2007) she woke to severe knee pain and was very tired and weak. I thought that she hurt herself but she did not recall any injury. Later that same day she was still unablr to walk so I took her th the E.R. where we were told she sprained her knee somehow. The pain and swelling persisted and I took her to the Pediatrician who thought she might have arthritis. We saw a sports doctor first just to rule-out any knee injury.

Avatar m tn My son has pain in his knees and feet, and the knees are Osgood-Schlaters, which requires that if he is having pain, he must stop what he is doing. The result of not stopping results in bone changes to the knee.
Avatar f tn Get a second opinion from a pediatric RA neuro or ortho doctor. I would not wait around since she is young. Something sounds odd.
Avatar f tn This doesnt feel half as supportive as my knee keeps moving in the splint as i cant keep it straight as my knee keeps swelling up alot. I'm also getting a lot of knee and leg pain aswell as knee spasms and pins and needles. I'm worried i should still be in a cast as the specialist was so adament about it. Should i be worried and ask for another opinion?? Im still waiting for another hospital appointment.

Avatar f tn The pain spread over the week to his left knee (which he sprained in January and healed). The knee became swollen and tender to the touch. He spiked a slight fever on the third day. X-rays are normal. But his CBC came back and the hospital said his normal blood count should be 14 and it is 14.8. This is the 3rd time in 8 months his count is elevated, and the first time it was double the normal amount.
Avatar n tn He commented that I should not alarmed even though it is not common in children this age. He recommended that I return in 8 weeks for an additional sonogram in order to see if there is any change. I asked what the implications are to this calcification at his age, but did not get an answer. This tactic of not answering questions seems to be a common strategy. Anyway if you have any information it would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn The pain you are experiencing on your right knee could be degenerative in nature. Patients with arthritis can experience such kind of pain. Nerve involvement can produce neuropathic pain that is similar to what you described. I agree with the previous post. You should have it checked so that appropriate treatment can be started. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Throughout the day she continuously complained of pain in her lower right abdomen but my husband said that it would be worse if it was her appendix. By 7pm she was vomiting bloody foam so I took her to the urgent care where they advised I take her to the pediatric ER at the hospital. I took her in and they said it was most likely the flu but they were going to do a CT just to be sure.
Avatar f tn no other problem I go for check up regularly no any other problem every thing is good only pain in Knees also MRI done no problem found pain in knees and muscle pain in legs it's really hard to bend over.
Avatar n tn I'm very worried about my 5 yr. old who had the "stomach flu" over a month ago, as the whole family did. Since then she as had continuous puralent diarrhea and vomitting 2-3 times a week, usually 1-2 AM in her sleep. She became dehydrated and had IV's. Her pediatrician thinks it will get better. Finally they took stool, blood and urine samples. Her blood was normal, urine showed dehydration and ketosis, no salmonella in stool, but waiting for parasite results.
1850203 tn?1325253608 This is caused by fluid built up under pressure within the knee cavity in response to an inflammatory problem within the knee. Usually no treatment is given if there are no symptoms. If anti-inflammatory medications are not able to take care of the pain, then draining the fluid is an option. Often corticosteroid injections are given at the same time. Patients remain symptoms free for varying periods of time ranging from few days to year or more.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees, and suffer from joint pain in my left hip ever since my last knee surgery(lft) . I think this is partly because after my left knee surgery, the joint now hypo-extends about 15 degrees. I think that is the correct term, it bends backwards,,lol. anyhow, this causes my hip alignment to be off. My question is this, how do I approach my Primary care Doctor about refering me to a pain management program?
Avatar f tn She then began experiencing intermittent sharp burning pains which would come on suddenly in different parts of her body- they have occurred in left eye, inside her head in forehead, feet, neck, spine and the back of left knee. Lasts about 15 minutes then go away. She had one complex partial seizure last yr. She then began having intermittent double vision and sudden episodes of blurred vision. She also has times where her left eye closes and she can't open it for up to two days.
Avatar m tn I need to be sure that you know there are NO Doctors on this Forum. We are ALL CP (Chronic Pain) Patients. We help each other through our expertise with our OWN Pain experiences. I'm VERY sorry to hear of your fall!! I'm just happy that you weren't hit by a car! You REALLY need to go to your Doctor and have them do an x-ray OR an ultra sound and find out what damage you have done to your knees.
Avatar f tn Has anyone developed or had fluid in joints with psoratic arthritis? I have had m knee drained twice, about two cupsof fluid..
Avatar m tn Thank you Doctors for your valuable inputs. My pain in the knee is manageable and just inconvenience while walking . I am still in my late 30's and no other complaints so far. I am keen to follow non surgical ways but Doctor here told me that if I delay in surgery, there is a huge risk of ortheritis. its concerning me a lot as I had never been to any surgery so far in my life.
Avatar f tn ve had it in my left knee for over 2 years now and i want it gone. The doctor referred me to go to the physio, which i did for a while. He would massage my calf muscles and told me to do yoga to loosen my hip and calf muscles. I stopped going to him only because he said the yoga was the only thing that could help it. I have been doing yoga now for almost 2 years and there has been no improvement in the slightest!
Avatar f tn Dear Paula, Although pain can be seen in some patients as a conversion disorder, in which it is more of a psychiatric cause, sharp chest pain is frequently seen in adolescents, and can be seen in some younger children, as well. Of note, the heart is the least likely cause of chest pain in the pediatric and adolescent population. I don’t have enough information to say for sure if your son’s chest pain is benign, or not.
